About Leslie Brown

We are a family of five from Boulder, Colorado. We bought the property to provide us with a family vacation spot in one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado. We love the out of doors and wanted to create lasting family memories for ourselves and our children who are now grown.

Leslie Brown purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Leslie Brown chose Clark

We bought the cabin because it was in excellent condition with the comforts of home, but also with the peace and tranquility that the mountains and forest offer. It feels secluded, but within a short distance of Steamboat Springs and many nearby activities.

What makes this cabin unique

'The Cabin' has great views of the Zirkel Wilderness and is within walking distance of Steamboat Lake. We listen to Sand Hill cranes in the evening and watch the antelope graze across the road. In summer, hummingbirds abound. Although, it is only 4 hrs. from our home in Boulder, we feel transported to another world when at our cabin.

This property is so great. We just finished our second stay, which was so relaxiing.

  • 5 of 5

We accidentally got locked out of the vacation rental we were staying at the first night we were there, but the kind neighbors who own a cabin down the road assisted us to call the owner, who was very understanding and helped us to get back in. We hope to stay at this rental again.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Steamboat Lake area cabin. We cooked on the BBQ and spent many quiet hours reading on the deck. The wildlife parading by in the meadow included pronghorns, mule deer, and sandhill cranes (one of our favorite birds). We spent one lovely day driving the national forest roads. Biking by the cabin was a highlight as there was virtually no traffic. Highly recommended for the wildlife and relaxation. Special thanks!

Really nice for our family.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was really nice for our family: 4 adults and 3 children.

Positives: The size and layout was great. It was nice to have laundry available. The location was quiet, and we saw a lot of wildlife. Ideal in that regard! It was a great, safe place for our children to play outside. The deck was nice for evenings outdoors. There were lots of games and indoor activities when it rained.

Negatives: Cell phone coverage was a bit spotty, but no complaints because we did not go there to use our cell phones. The place suffers from a bit of deferred maintenance, so don't expect a spotless, pristine dwelling. That is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Great stay away from the crowds!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin we stayed in has a rustic feel, and its tucked away from the crowds. You can go outside and not have neighbors in your view. We saw deer, and antelope come through the property. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you would need to cook, although I would recommend bringing your own oil. The coffee pot is a little difficult to use, but once you get the hang of it, it does its job. They have a great patio to hang out on, and a covered back patio that's nice if its raining. The bedrooms are cozy, and warm. If you would like a thicker pillow I would bring one.

We had a few kids and a dog with us and they had a blast around the place, and you didn't need to worry about them wandering onto a busy street. They have an outdoor fire place for the evenings. A grill outside that worked great, was nice to enjoy a beer and grill some burgers and brats. It's a tad dated, but that gives this place its appeal. I would stay here again!

One complaint: the bird clock on the wall... but that's nothing, not a deal breaker, just an annoyance. :)
