About Leslie Brown

We are a family of five from Boulder, Colorado. We bought the property to provide us with a family vacation spot in one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado. We love the out of doors and wanted to create lasting family memories for ourselves and our children who are now grown.

Leslie Brown purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Leslie Brown chose Northwest

We bought the cabin because it was in excellent condition with the comforts of home, but also with the peace and tranquility that the mountains and forest offer. It feels secluded, but within a short distance of Steamboat Springs and many nearby activities.

What makes this cabin unique

'The Cabin' has great views of the Zirkel Wilderness and is within walking distance of Steamboat Lake. We listen to Sand Hill cranes in the evening and watch the antelope graze across the road. In summer, hummingbirds abound. Although, it is only 4 hrs. from our home in Boulder, we feel transported to another world when at our cabin.

Great stay away from the crowds!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin we stayed in has a rustic feel, and its tucked away from the crowds. You can go outside and not have neighbors in your view. We saw deer, and antelope come through the property. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you would need to cook, although I would recommend bringing your own oil. The coffee pot is a little difficult to use, but once you get the hang of it, it does its job. They have a great patio to hang out on, and a covered back patio that's nice if its raining. The bedrooms are cozy, and warm. If you would like a thicker pillow I would bring one.

We had a few kids and a dog with us and they had a blast around the place, and you didn't need to worry about them wandering onto a busy street. They have an outdoor fire place for the evenings. A grill outside that worked great, was nice to enjoy a beer and grill some burgers and brats. It's a tad dated, but that gives this place its appeal. I would stay here again!

One complaint: the bird clock on the wall... but that's nothing, not a deal breaker, just an annoyance. :)

Family Cabin

  • 5 of 5

There is more than meets the eye with this fun and comfortable cabin. The cabin and property is very roomy and modern. Everything is here at the cabin and the Steamboat Lake area is one mile away. Great hiking and biking trails. We kayaked on Steamboat Lake and Hahn Lake. Both of these lakes are fully accessible and the main attraction is fishing.

We spent 4 nights here and I do wished we had planned for more time. The property is well maintained and has everything you will need as advertised. This cabin is a must stay!

Stop by Clark and Hahn's Restaurant for a good meal. The Visitors Center at Steamboat Lake has all the permits and information you will need.

Refreshing peaceful cabin in the aspens

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a perfect spot for a writing retreat or a family get-away. It's 7 miles down a gravel road and perfectly nestled into the aspen trees where distant neighboring houses cannot be seen. It feels very private and in nature. The kitchen is updated with nice appliances, the rooms are clean, and the whole house has amazing natural light. We hiked to the top of the hill where there is a little trail with magnificent views. We will definitely be back!
