About the property

Relax and rejuvenate in this amazing 2bdm, 2 bath a mile from town yet worlds aw

Nestled among two acres of pinons, at the foot of the sacred Sun Mountain, your private home awaits you. Sunrises and Sunsets greet you daily. At Maddie's Place, Sun Mountain is right out your back door. It is 30 minute easy hike to the summit. One mile away is Museum Hill and the botanical gardens. Just a few blocks from there are art galleries, restaurants, and the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Georgia spent her final years just a couple blocks from your Sun Mountain abode, and you'll understand why. It is the perfect place to watch the skies change across the horizon from Sandia Mountains, the Jemez Mountains, to the Colorado border. Step out of your jetted tub, grill some salmon, and enjoy a glass of wine while the last of the light lingers on your private portal. There is a year round additional queen bed if you feel like sleeping there...or curl up with a book, or simply watch the birds drink from the koi pond. The sunsets are spectacular. Enjoy the sounds of coyotes as the lights begin to twinkle before you. The perfect retreat after the days activities, your home at Sun Mountain will beckon you to return.

About Nancy or George Roberts

George is from Zimbabwe, Nancy, New Jersey. They met white water river rafting in 1981 in California. After raising kids in the Pacific Northwest, Santa Fe beckoned, and became home.

Nancy or George Roberts purchased this house in 2001

Why Nancy or George Roberts chose New Mexico

This property has the best of all worlds in its location, and ambiance. Built in 1930, it has all the charm Santa Fe is known for, with huge beams, hardwood floors, and 18' siding...a rarity in these parts. So private, yet so close to everything Santa Fe has to offer, it allows you to decide at a moments notice to go hiking, or to many cultural offerings.

What makes this house unique

Well, privacy and views are simply outstanding. Sleeping outside six months a year is a treat that most never get to enjoy. Watching the sunsets daily is now a priority in our lives. Our art collection of over 30 years of traveling surrounds each room. The rustic elegance and soul of this home make it unique. It never disappoints us.

Can't wait to return!

This amazing home far exceeded our expectations! The views are incredible, especially when the sun is rising and setting, and the home itself is warm, welcoming, and filled with beautiful artwork. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the surroundings but also the ability to get to the Plaza and Canyon Road quickly. The owners were helpful and quickly responded to all of our questions. Thank you, George and Nancy, for a place that truly allowed us to relax and to reenergize. We will be back!

WOW!! My stay at this home exceeded my expectations in every possible way.

  • 5 of 5

Renting this home is truly a privilege!!! It was a fun, peaceful, inspiring explosion of joy to experience my month of days in this home. Photos fail to convey the feel of this property and the unspeakable natural beauty of it's setting. George and Nancy are incredibly generous to share this uniquely stunning home with those they've never met. Sparkling clean, well stocked and so very comfortable, I felt like an honored guest. The property is perfectly located to provide total privacy and is yet minutes away to any and all activities, restaurants, shopping, airport and major highways. Without a doubt, the memories of the month I spent here will live with me forever. A most grateful thank you to Nancy and George Roberts for offering their beautiful home on HomeAway!!!

A wonderful home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for four days earlier this month. The pictures of the home and views from the patios reminded us of our

former home in Oaxaca, Mexico and from the minute that we arrived we felt like we were transported back in time. The house is full of beautiful art and folk art. It is warm, inviting and truly a joy to be in. Sitting outside on the patio at the end of the day watching the sun set over the valley was beautiful. Everything in the house was terrific. We stayed here to see if we'd like to come back for a longer stay and we are already looking at dates for next year and a longer stay. It was a magical experience.

Beautiful view house

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 3 nights in August at the sun mountain house.

Beautiful views and great location to Museum Hill.

Kitchen was well appointed, had every spice to you could want.

My husband and I slept in the outside bed every night.

The house and garden looked like they needed a good once over for the place to be given 5 stars.

There are no pictures of the second bathroom/washer dryer room. It is small, but everything worked.

I would recommend this place for longer stays, since a service fee of $89 is now charged along with the $79 non refundable damage fee.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review...Yes, because of the new vrbo arrangement with booking fees, longer stays are less expensive. We also took to heart your note about the garden needing tending. We got right over there and put in new plants. We hope you will come and see them ! Thank you so much for your visit! Just gorgeous.

  • 5 of 5

The property/house was better than I imagined. Very private and quiet. Extremely clean and comfortable. Amazing decor, paintings, funky stuff to look at all over the house. There's a great trail just down the road from the house and it's maybe 15 minutes to downtown. Great location - I hope to rent it again sometime.
