About the property

Relax and rejuvenate in this amazing 2bdm, 2 bath a mile from town yet worlds aw

Nestled among two acres of pinons, at the foot of the sacred Sun Mountain, your private home awaits you. Sunrises and Sunsets greet you daily. At Maddie's Place, Sun Mountain is right out your back door. It is 30 minute easy hike to the summit. One mile away is Museum Hill and the botanical gardens. Just a few blocks from there are art galleries, restaurants, and the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Georgia spent her final years just a couple blocks from your Sun Mountain abode, and you'll understand why. It is the perfect place to watch the skies change across the horizon from Sandia Mountains, the Jemez Mountains, to the Colorado border. Step out of your jetted tub, grill some salmon, and enjoy a glass of wine while the last of the light lingers on your private portal. There is a year round additional queen bed if you feel like sleeping there...or curl up with a book, or simply watch the birds drink from the koi pond. The sunsets are spectacular. Enjoy the sounds of coyotes as the lights begin to twinkle before you. The perfect retreat after the days activities, your home at Sun Mountain will beckon you to return.

About Nancy or George Roberts

George is from Zimbabwe, Nancy, New Jersey. They met white water river rafting in 1981 in California. After raising kids in the Pacific Northwest, Santa Fe beckoned, and became home.

Nancy or George Roberts purchased this house in 2001

Why Nancy or George Roberts chose Santa Fe

This property has the best of all worlds in its location, and ambiance. Built in 1930, it has all the charm Santa Fe is known for, with huge beams, hardwood floors, and 18' siding...a rarity in these parts. So private, yet so close to everything Santa Fe has to offer, it allows you to decide at a moments notice to go hiking, or to many cultural offerings.

What makes this house unique

Well, privacy and views are simply outstanding. Sleeping outside six months a year is a treat that most never get to enjoy. Watching the sunsets daily is now a priority in our lives. Our art collection of over 30 years of traveling surrounds each room. The rustic elegance and soul of this home make it unique. It never disappoints us.

Relaxing and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Maddie's Place in 8 months. We love the beauty and artwork of the house and the view from the back porch. We spent a lot of time outside soaking it all in and listening to the little waterfall in the pond.

It's close to amazing Santa Fe restaurants and art galleries, but we felt secluded from any hustle and bustle. It was very relaxing and allowed for reflection and restoration.

We will be back!

A great week.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful week in the Santa Fe area. Maddie's Place is in a great location. The sunsets we watched from the back patio were unsurpassed. The eclectic collection of art in the house was very interesting - we saw something new every day. The kitchen was well stocked for our needs. Perhaps it would be better to have the one TV located in the common area rather than the master bedroom. Assuming that the water problem on the floor in the smaller bathroom has been addressed I would recommend this property to someone visiting the area.

Owner's Response: Robin, Thank you so much for your review...yes the water was dealt with immediately. We appreciated your patience...the home is nearly 100 years old, and occasionally there are mishpaps. We are glad you enjoyed your time there and hope to see you again in the future. This was my second stay at Maddie's Place. I loved it so much, I couldn't wait to go back! We enjoyed it just as much in March as we did in October. This home is a complete vacation retreat. Truly an authentic Santa Fe experience with stunning views, great amenities and captivating charm. I won't hesitate to return again and again. Thank you once again, George and Nancy, for sharing your beautiful home.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words, Donna. We so enjoy hearing when our guests appreciate our home as much as we do and are glad you plan on returning...we are feeling a bit homesick for it ourselves, as we are in Mexico (which we love) but plan to return there in April..with a couple new pieces of art, of course! words like yours warm our hearts and make all the effort worth it. Incredible Home, Experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay on this property and simply, this house does not disappoint. Beautiful locale situated on the side of a mountain overlooking Santa Fe. The house has an eclectic vibe to it with incredible and fanciful art, in addition to being spacious, and beautiful. We look forward to our next stay on this property. Truly Santa Fe at its finest; also it didn't hurt that we left with a fine piece of art that now proudly hangs in my home.
