About the property

2 bedroom/one bath home in historic part of Downtown Fort Lauderdale

Lovely historic home with two bedrooms and one bath. The house has its old charm with some modern renovations. The house was built in 1912 from beautiful old growth pine. Wood floors are throughout the house. We have a beautiful dining room to entertain or to just enjoy each other. The living room has two comfy Moroccan daybeds to hang out or sleep on. The kitchen is renovated with an artsy mosaic floor and sitting nook. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and closet space with a little room attached that can be an office or sleep a child. The second bedroom has a full sized bed and closet space. The house sleeps six. There are sitting areas in both front and back porches. The backyard is fenced and has a spacious entertaining area with deck, bar, and outdoor dining table. In addition, we have a beautiful outside shower and antique cast iron tub to enjoy the outdoors. We also have a lush active nursery. Throughout the yard enjoy mango, mulberry, sour orange, papaya, and of course plenty of bananas trees.

About Chana Grafals

We've been living in South Florida most of our lives. We love the weather, the culture, and the community.

Chana Grafals purchased this house in 2010

Why Chana Grafals chose Fort Lauderdale

We love living Downtown for all the conveniences of living near the beach, cultural events, and nearby dining!!!!

What makes this house unique

This house is a historic home built by the family of Fort Lauderdale's first lady mayor. It has the charm of being an old house with some simple upgrades. The dade-county wood floors and 11 foot high ceilings gave it a roomy spacious feel. We fell in love.

Nice house close to river

  • 4 of 5

House is very convenient for beach, airport and walking distance to river walk. The house was clean and the owners were very attentive. The house is old and needs a few repairs/renovations but suited our needs adequately. Prices are a little high compared to some houses I have rented with more facilities however it is an expensive area to stay so was a lot cheaper than 2 hotel rooms.

Very lovely house!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a great time in this lovely house. It is close to Las Olas street and beach, but it's very quiet at night time. The daybeds in the living room are super comfortable and the artistic decor makes us relaxed. We have almost all the supplies during our stay, and the host kept in touch just in case we need anything, which is very nice. The garden is beautiful that my 1 year old daughter loves so much. I would highly recommend this house.

Charming place

  • 4 of 5

The house itself looks exactly like the photos. It's an older home in a great location. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, museums, etc. the two bedrooms were very comfortable. It's not as child friendly as we needed with two toddlers but we managed ok and they had a good time exploring the garden area. Overall it was very nice.

Hightly Recommend!!!

What a gem! The bungalow is situated in the historic district and immediately gives you the feel of what it must have been like to live in turn-of- the century Fort Lauderdale. The interior of the house is quite beautiful – with historic touches throughout the large living room and dining room. The two bedrooms are cozy and

both mattresses are quite comfortable. The kitchen has all that you need for making meals, including a new fridge and gas stove. The huge yard is wonderful – like being in your own private Floridian rainforest. A grill and outdoor chairs and table are situated beneath swaying papaya, banana, palm trees and other native Florida

plants. It’s a beautiful oasis to relax in. A really cute outdoor shower is also included. The location is great as well – we walked around the neighborhood looking at some of the other unique homes in the area. We were minutes from the downtown bars and restaurants as well as the area beaches. Being New Yorker city type people, we didn't mind the 10-15 minute walk to downtown or the easy 15-20 minute drive to the beach. Whole Foods and a wonderful beer craft store was also not too far of a drive away. We have traveled a lot and stayed in many air b&b's and this place is definitely one of our favorites. It's great when you can show up to a place and have the amenities and caring service of a good hotel but more cozy, intimate and private like staying at a good friend's home. We would definitely return and recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the Fort Lauderdale area that wants the feeling of a home and accommodating caring hosts.
