Cozy, private retreat on top of a mountain

  • 5 of 5

I have so much to say about this beautiful place I don't know where to start. My husband and I rented the cabin for 6 days. We had no idea what to expect, especially from pictures. When we finally got to the top of the mountain, and I mean finally...more to come on that in a moment, and we opened the front door, we could not contain our excitement. The place was cozy, beautiful and super clean! We opened the sliding door to the rear deck and our mouths dropped open! It was the most beautiful view we have ever seen. So serene, private, lush and tranquil. The only noises we heard all week was one or two occasional cars and a lot of wildlife noises, especially owls in the distance. This place is magical! I talked alot about wanting to buy the cabin as our family retreat. Did I mention how clean this place was? We sat on the deck all the time, sunrise, sunset and in between. The hot tub was perfect and the views are amazing. Wish we could have posted the pictures my husband took (he is a semi pro photographer). Now, for the ride up the mountain. When Tom provided very detailed directions, we were in for a little surprise when we were climbing the mountain. From the bottom of the paved road to the top of the mountain, it took us approx. 25 mins. You cannot drive more than 10-15 mph the whole time. You need an AWD car for sure. We rented a Dodge Journey SUV and I know it needed shocks after we turned the car in! The roads up the mountain are stones, gravel and a few dips and bumps. We were practically the only car going up and down the mountain the entire week! Having said that, it is an adventure and was so exciting because we knew at the end of our journey, we would be back at our beautiful cabin. Some advice...get all your groceries at one time. You spend alot of time in the car going up and down the mountain. If it is a hot day, make sure you have some freezer bags in your car because your food will melt! If I have to say anything bad, that was pretty much it. The entire cabin is furnished with every amenity you need. Just bring your food and liquor and you are good to go. I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful place. We saw our first black bear on our way home one night...standing in the road. He just slowly walked away into the woods and wasn't bothered by us at all. Then we saw a couple of bobcats run across the road. It was amazing! After our trip, I decided no more hotels. This was the best decision we ever made for a cozy retreat in the mountains!

Adventurous and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is beautiful; everything is of the highest quality and the views are stunning. The road up to the cabin is scary, to say the least, but 3-4 times up and down, and you're a pro! We hiked the mountain around the cabin and had a blast. Chimney Rock is a short drive and worth it. Overall, this was an incredible stay; one that we will do again!

Cozy and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We came for a long weekend getaway and were sad to leave! The ride up the mountain made us a little nervous the first time but it was fine after that (we did not have a 4wd vehicle but we still made it!) We just loved relaxing by the fireplace with the cozy blankets and warm lighting provided by the lamps. The sunrise was breathtaking and the hot tub was perfectly situated outside the living room window so we could see the fireplace (and March Madness basketball on the TV, unfortunately. HAHA!) The homeowners were so thoughtful in what is provided in the cabin. All of the appliances and fixtures are top of the line. There are plenty of novels, books about the area, cookbooks (my favorite), blankets, binoculars, and even a corn hole board set out on the deck! This was truly an amazing vacation and a time I will never forget, I think my face still hurts from smiling. Thank you to Tom for being so helpful with directions and checking in on us after we got there.
