This charming 115-year-old home has just been renovated from floors to ceilings and is better than ever!
The gorgeous new Kitchen features a large marble island with seating area, white Shaker cabinets with quartz counter tops, Bosch whisper-quiet dishwasher, convection oven, garbage disposal, stainless appliances and plenty of kitchen gadgets and supplies for the chef of the family to cook and bake up a feast! (But if you'd rather not cook, it's only 2 blocks to the nearest restaurants!) The Kitchen is open-plan to the Dining Room, with a table that expands to seat up to 12 if you'll be entertaining.
Upstairs, you'll find the 3 bedrooms, all with newly refinished floors and freshly painted walls: the roomy Master, with sunny east and south windows, Art Deco furnishings (but new mattress!) and European linens on the double bed. Bedroom 2 offers a double bed with antique furnishings, and Bedroom 3 is perfect for children, complete with bunk beds.
The upstairs bathroom includes a tub and shower, updated lighting and storage, and linen closet with plenty of towels, hotel-style soaps and shampoos, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and more.
On the main floor, relax in the Living Room with its TV/DVD, Wi-Fi (throughout the house), games, books and puzzles. The full sized sofa-bed also provides a sleeping option without climbing the stairs, if that's easier for you. Just off the living room, the semi-enclosed, east-facing front porch is perfect for your morning coffee or tea.
The beautiful, brand new main floor bathroom features Kohler fixtures and a barrier-free shower. (Although not fully ADA compliant, it is wheelchair-friendly.)
If you have laundry to do, you're welcome to use our brand new Whirlpool front-loading washer and dryer, located in the basement.
Outside, the spacious yard with its southern exposure and colorful maple trees will invite you to linger at the outdoor table. In the winter, there's plenty of room for building snow forts and snowmen, too! In summer, try out the grill and enjoy dining outdoors.
The 2-car garage with electric door openers is available for your use and there is also plenty of additional off-street parking.
We will do anything we can to make your stay wonderful and memorable -- and hope you'll come back soon!
The three of us grew up in very different parts of the world, but we all love mountains, nature, the arts, ethnic foods and skiing! The Berkshires are rich in all those, and Great Barrington is in the heart of it all. After years of coming here, we finally have a place of our own, and look forward to sharing it with you.
Kendra St. John purchased this house in 2013
This lovely old house had the perfect location, lots of character and 'good bones' hidden beneath layers of linoleum, fake-wood paneling and 1960s carpeting! It was crying out for attention and we fell in love with it! If you'd like to see the 'before and after' photos, we're proud to show off the transformation.
My family and I spent a lovely week in the house for a ski/Berkshires vacation. The house is very warm and welcoming (thank you for the lovely goodie basket). The kitchen was fun to cook in ad the open space of the kitchen and the dining room allowed to a family atmosphere. There were plenty of activities for the children in the house (including the bunk beds with plenty of stuffed animals, toys, books, games). The house was very clean and well-kept. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bedding, towels, etc. The owners were very responsive to any concerns. It was a short distance to all the things that we needed - very convenient. It was everything we hoped for. Thank you!
My family celebrated Thanksgiving at the charming, well appointed home in Great Barrington. The house is well located, convenient to downtown restaurants and shopping (less than 15 minute walk to Main Street). Close to Butternut and Catamount Ski Areas as well as towns of Stockbridge, South Egremont, Lenox. An easy drive to Hudson, NY (40 minutes). Owners have nicely updated this home ~ terrific and spacious kitchen and dining area, compact but comfortable living room/parlor, and bathrooms.
This was a wonderful house in a beautiful location! We comfortably fit 5 adults and 2 children. We were greeted with a welcome basket, tips on things to do, and toys and puzzles for the kids. Very responsive hosts. 5 stars!
We loved this wonderful house - beautifully restored with fantastic amenities, including a wonderful kitchen, back yard and new shower room.
The house was perfect for six of us - my parents and our two kids. The kids loved the bunk beds, and the neighborhood was perfect -close to Main Street, and quiet and peaceful. Thanks for making our stay so special - all the personal details meant so much, including a welcome hamper and fridge that was already well stocked. A pleasure!
My husband, kids and another couple stayed at the house on a fall weekend. The home is beautifully renovated and incredibly clean and tidy. The owners put a lot of thought into making the home comfortable for guests. There was even a gift basket of snacks when we arrived which was very appreciated, especially by our kids! We enjoyed being in a cute, quiet neighborhood so close to the town of Great Barrington. I would rent the house again since it's so difficult to find such a nicely renovated home to rent at a reasonable price in the Berkshires.
The house perfect for our family (three kids, two parents and one grandparent). The street was lovely and quiet. The location near town was great. The house was very nice, and in particular the kitchen was excellent and perfectly met our needs. Laundry worked, showers were good, etc. Kendra could not have been more helpful, with notes, books, and lots of other helpful hints. She also left a basket of goodies that won the hearts of my kids. The only possible (and very small) complaint would be for more WiFi horsepower and that the circuits didn't break (had to reset breakers for some of the lights). It was terrific - thanks!
Nature and culture are both abundant in the Berkshires and Great Barrington is in the center of it all! Hiking on the Appalachian Trail, or many other trails...nearby Tanglewood for world class summer music; Berkshires Jazz, Berkshire Bach, as well as a variety of dance and theater year round. The Norman Rockwell Museum (a must-see!) and Daniel Chester French's Chesterwood are just 15 minutes away. If you like Impressionism, Old Masters and more, The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown is outstanding.
If antiques and collectibles are your passion, Great Barrington has many options...and Route 7 thru the Berkshires is lined with charming antique shops, too.
When winter's here, Ski Butternut offers 22 trails on 110 acres, just 2.5 miles from our house! The best in Massachusetts, snow-making on all trails, affordable and family friendly...check it out!
There is always something interesting happening, outdoors or indoors, in the Berkshires!
