This historic home, built by a well-known German architect in the late 1920’s, was fully restored in October of 2013 by a talented interior designer and artist.
This Patrimonial property has lots of charm with French doors and romantic balconies above the street, hand tooled plaster 12 foot ceilings, beautiful solid hardwood floors and doors throughout, sweeping windows and/or French doors in every room, three large living rooms, a study, guest bedroom and bath, and custom kitchen. It is filled with fine, lovingly collected antiques, rugs and original art from around the world, and designer furniture; the interiors are beautiful, eclectic and classy, reflecting a calm peace and beauty that is truly unique in the desirable El Centro area of Cuenca. Additionally, it rests one of the quietest streets in historic El Centro.

You will rest deeply and enjoy your respite from the animated city, cocooned on the second story above one of the quietest streets in the historic downtown area. The house is quiet and tranquil, with very little traffic noise even outside on the open balconies.
Security is excellent. You must pass through three secured doors to enter, and the street door is locked at night and on weekends.
Rent is less than you would pay for one room in a fine hotel, and you will have a quiet, centrally located luxury accommodation with a comfortable imported memory foam bed, extra large rooms to relax in, plus a fully equipped American standard kitchen (of course, your personal food, toiletries and sundries are your responsibility).
The guest room is a lovely double room, with a cushy queen-size memory-foam mattress and 1000 thread-count sheets, abundant down-filed pillows and duvet, an antique desk, colorful art, and a full private bath.
The WIFI works throughout the house.
The kitchen includes disposal, US double-sided refrigerator with crushed ice in the door, gas cooktop and electric oven, microwave, instant hot water, granite countertops throughout and lovely antiqued hardwood cupboards, plus a cozy little balcony off the kitchen for coffee or tea breaks.
Your rent includes gas, water, electricity and maid service before your stay, plus Wi-Fi internet. There is a Blu-ray player with DVD movies for your viewing pleasure.
Cuenca’s climate is consistently pleasant, but we do provide a portable heater for your use.
• If you need a personal telephone while you are in Cuenca, (very handy for calling taxis, booking reservations and calling your property manager!) we can provide a 3GPS local phone for $20.00 a week. The phone is activated with a pre-paid plan and ready to use, and you can add additional minutes if needed in any tienda for $2.00.
• If your stay is an extended one and you need laundry service, we can provide W/D for a small additional fee. Contact the property manager if you require this service.
Check-in: Check-in is at 1PM, and check-out is at 1PM. Upon check-in, you will be asked to fill out a short form to comply with Ecuadorian tax law.
Car Parking: Inexpensive secure parking (approximately $5 per day; $35 per month) is available at parking lots within one block of the property.
Airport: The property is approximately 5-8 minutes from the Cuenca airport by taxi ($2.00 - $2.50 cab fare). Directions to the house will be provided upon confirmation.
House Rules & Exclusions: We apologize; our policy does not allow for children or pets, the minimum rental age is 30. Rentals are for 1-2 persons only. No additional guests will be authorized during the rental period. This is strictly a non-smoking environment. Stairs to the main entry mean this home is not suitable for handicap access.
Treat the Premises with Care: This private home is typically only available to friends or referrals. It is a truly spectacular and unique property for the discriminating, quiet, honest and responsible occupant—preferably one person or a couple. Please treat our beautiful home with the utmost care!
