I'm shear we woold go baaaaack to the sheep farm!

The Shepherd's Cottage on the Delk Sheep Farm was terrific! Seven of us stayed there for my son's wedding, and it was great! Close to major roads but far enough away so that you feel you're in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of space in the cottage. Great view near the pond. We strolled down to see the sheep, accompanied by our English sheepdog guide Drover. Wish we had more time to just relax on the grounds. We didn't bring our dog, but pets are welcome, and there were many paw prints in the guest book. Highly recommend it!

Gorgeous and peaceful property, with sheep and horses and ducks and it was amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in their beautiful cottage which was so cozy and had this amazing covered porch which was like having another room. It overlooked the pond and it was so beautiful! Kay and Les were the best hosts. They were available but knew just when to give space. They are fantastic! Our dogs enjoyed roaming the property and feeling like real country dogs. We are so grateful for the perfect vacation! Thanks Kay and Les.

Wonderful location and quaint cottage.

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is located next to a beautiful pond and the bedrooms are situated so that you wake up to a wonderful view. The deck/patio is the place to be at this cottage. It's large and comfy. It's only 16 miles in to Asheboro and the ride is quite nice and worth it (20 minutes). Les is very friendly and accommodating. (I didn't meet Kay) They have friendly dogs on site and one in particular came up to the cottage every day to play with my dog. They were very entertaining. The one and only downside to this cottage was that it needs to be cleaned up a bit more. Maybe I have high standards, but it could use some cleaning.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your suggestion. We work very hard to keep the cottage clean. We do have items that are located up high above cabinets and doors that are not cleaned but 4 times a year. As are the windows. I personally clean the cottage myself after every guest.I vacuum, dust, mop and clean the bathrooms with cloriox clean up top to bottom. I will try to do a better job. Thank you for your input. A fabulous and restful time with family in a lovely and welcoming cottage.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been coming to the shepherd's cottage each summer for the past 3 years, and sometimes at Christmas. We are always greeted by Les, who is most welcoming and kind. I can always see the pride he and Kay take in providing a clean and inviting home, as he shows me the new updates and homey touches. We always enjoy our visits so much and are sad to see them come to an end. When I arrive at the shepherds cottage, I feel like I have come home (without the responsibilities of home). Thank you Kay and Les. See you next summer! Sandy

A Wonderful Find

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our two day stay. We had a party of six: my husband and I in the master bedroom, two daughters shared a room, and the boyfriends each had their own bedroom. (all bedding, linens and towels were provided)

. . I brought some pork chops to fix on the grill for our first evening. A couple packages of frozen corn and mashed potatoes rounded out the meal. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the plates and utensils we needed, and I was glad to have a dishwasher for cleanup.

. . We were staying during the "hottest days of the summer in the Triad" - according to local weather forecast. It WAS a hot day at the zoo for us, but the cottage stayed comfortable thanks to window AC units. Each bedroom was able to be cooled to the liking of the inhabitant. :D The living room/kitchen has its own unit as well.

. . The television sufficed for evening entertainment. We were able to find the local channels and watch some local news, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and our favorite was some 'classic' programs on one channel (MASH, Happy Days, All in the Family, Hogan's Heroes, even old Johnny Carson Tonight Show re-runs).

. . My husband enjoyed chatting with Les (one of the homeowners) one evening. The kids (actually all 20-somethings) loved going down to the main house to visit with the litter of pups corralled on the lawn. The pond swing was utilized a bit, but honestly the 93-95 degree days kept us inside much of the time.

. . The kids found a board game that they enjoyed and we popped some microwave popcorn and had some game-time around the kitchen bar one afternoon. Wi-fi was not necessary; anyone of them briefly needing something online just used their phone service.

. . I hope to return during some cooler weather when we can spend more time on the porch and down at the pond. This trip was to 'go to the zoo one more time' at the request of our almost grown-and-flown daughters, and staying in this cottage was less expensive and much more pleasurable than the option of two hotel rooms.

. . If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you'll love the privacy and quiet here. Plus, it's just a short, easy drive to shopping, dining, and tourist attractions if that's what you're looking to do as well.
