Overview

About the property

5BR/5.5BA family home on 120' waterfront. Boat lift, guest house, luxury!

Tranquil Cedars is an amazing, hand-crafted home that integrates the natural beauty of wood, stone and water into a unique 5 bedroom luxury home with guest house. Located between Bottle Bay and Contest Point and nestled by century old cedar trees, this home sleeps 12 — and is ideal for multiple families and friends as a Sandpoint getaway.

An original Asian meets Pacific Northwest design, Tranquil Cedars melds reclaimed wood beams, logs, glass and stone elements — with an artisan’s craftsmanship — throughout this 3 story home. Enter through a traditional red front door. Historic, hard wood floors originally from century old Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, beckon you into a living room of art and Lake Pend Oreille views. Slide open the glass doors and step out to a custom, 3 story cedar deck replete with built in benches, deck swings and lake views that stretch to the “7 Sister peaks” of Canada. Just below you is a gorgeous dry stack waterfall — symbolically interconnecting the house to an outdoor entertaining area, pebbled beach and private dock with boat lift.

The dining room table was handcrafted from Lewis and Clark gym benches. An old wood beam was preserved, meticulously distressed and used as a bar, overlooking the large kitchen with granite countertops and fully stocked amenities.

A fabulous master bedroom suite resides on the main level, offering a King bed, jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Upstairs you’ll find 2 Queen bedroom suites, each with a full bathroom and lake views. The lower level of the main home is designed for entertainment and relaxation. A cedar-lined ‘wet’ sauna will envelop and relax you, or enjoy a movie in the TV room, play a game of foosball, or enjoy board games and conversation in the secondary kitchen and bar.

A charming and secluded guest house invites extended family and friends to stay in comfort and privacy. Maple wood steps invite you up to another family room with kitchenette. Two additional private bedrooms (King bed, bunk bed twins respectively), plus a Queen futon, sleep an additional 6.

The concrete pathway meanders below a canopy of cedar trees to 120’ of private waterfront. Relax and enjoy appetizers lakeside as the kids paddle by in kayaks (provided). Firepit, croquet set, fishing poles all provided. Safely moor your boat on the Sunstream lift provided. Bottle Bay Resort and downtown Sandpoint are equidistance and just a few minutes away by boat or car. Hike Gold Mountain or Mineral Point trails - trailheads are just minutes from this home and great, family friendly hikes.

Tranquil Cedars is a home for families and friends to connect with the beauty and nature of the area inside and out.

Why Kellee Daugherty, Daugherty Management LLC chose Sagle

The owners wanted a home with privacy, waterfront and cedar trees surrounding them. This home, along with a separate guest house, connects them with the things they love: family, art, water and nature.

Century old Lewis & Clark High School gym floors were reclaimed and used throughout this home as a tribute to the owner's Father who went to school there. Cedar, reclaimed barn beams, stone and hand-crafted art surround you -- inside & out. Guest house is great for additional family and friends. Lower level is all about relaxation and restoration in the game room or sauna.

A Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

We rented this as a 6 day post holiday snow retreat for our 4 daughters, spouses and grandchildren. The accommodations were more than ample and we weren't disappointed in our decision. Every bedroom in the main house has their own bath room and the mother in law accommodations (fully equipped) above the detached garage was perfect for our youngest daughter and husband with a 2 yr. old and 3 mo. old. We arrived just after the beginning of 4 days of snow. The first 72 hours we had almost 24" of snow which was some of the heaviest snow fall in several decades.

Those that skied or snowboarded loved the close proximity to Schweitzer Basin and took advantage of it every day. Everyone enjoyed inner tubing. From the back of the house you can see the ski mountain and the city lights of Sandpoint which was beautiful and could be seen the last 2 evenings of our trip. Below the back of the house, the lake was semi frozen with an abundance of migratory birds. The first day, my wife counted 16 bald eagles in trees surrounding the house presumably looking to feast when so inclined.

The house provides a lot of space on three levels which came in handy for those that needed their own quiet area to escape to when needed. There was ample room for the adults to play games which we did every night as well as a separate movie/game room for the kids. Two gas fireplaces made the main living areas warm and inviting.

Even with new snow every day the roads to the house were well maintained. The drive way is fairly steep and with all the snow we were afraid we might be snow bound, but property management had the driveway plowed and sanded a couple of times. We had 4 vehicles (ample size parking can handle more) and everyone with all wheel drive or better had no problem navigating the driveway even with all the snow.

As we said our good byes, all of our children encouraged us to return in the summer to explore the magic this place looks like it would provide. For those that love water and the outdoors I don't think you'll be dissappointed.

Owner's Response: Hello Linda, Thank you again for staying with us. This home is no longer for sale, as the owners love it so and want to keep it in the family. I apologize, we did have a few small 'punch list' items to do from the summer busy season that we didn't get to before your stay, but the entire home has been completely gone through and is A+ now. Best wishes, -Kellee

Very Beautiful home, we enjoyed our stay.

  • 4 of 5

My only recommendation for future renters is you need to be in good shape to walk up and down stairs to the water. The home is beautiful but most of the square footage is up and down. Not a lot of people can fit in on the kitchen floor where you would most likely entertain. Kellee was very pleasant to deal with when it came to renting, thank you.

Owner's Response: Hello Kelly. Thank you so much for coming and staying with us. The home is a 3 level home and there are steps down to the water, so it's great for the calves and such, but not the perfect fit for those who don't do stairs well. I do love that the owners have such a nice lakefront entertaining area down below next to the dock. Thank you again for taking great care of the home. Best wishes, -Kellee

Magnificent - really it is magnificent - property that you won't want to leave

  • 5 of 5

You know that nagging feeling you have wondering if the expectations of a home you rent will live up to the feel you get from the pictures on the web... this is a home where it is more beautiful in actuality than the pictures can convey. It is wonderfully laid out, everything is top notch in the home, the views are spectacular everywhere and the management company is unbelievably friendly and helpful - the best group I have worked with in my experience.

You will need to stay for many days just to take in all its beauty from the many places, and decks, in the home you will want to sit and read and take in the lake. The tall cedars surrounding the home make it intimate, and catching a view of the bald eagles that alight from the trees makes for a great morning.

This is definitely the best home in Sandpoint in which we have stayed (been here 5 times now), and the experience makes us want to come back next week... or never leave. Thank you to the home owners and Daugherty Management - a wonderful stay and a great group to work with finding a rental home in Sandpoint. We will be back!
