About Rudy and Nicole Vorkapic

My wife Nicole is a New Orleans native and I'm originally from Chicago. We have two beautiful daughters Irene (8) and Saya (4). I'm a writer and my wife is in medical device sales. We're from two great food cities so of course we love to cook and entertain. We've lived in the Touro Bouligny neighborhood since 2002 having fully renovated our first and much smaller home on Peniston Street. With our first daughter Irene on the way in 2007, we found this beautiful home and have poured our heart, soul and pocket book into the renovation, one project at a time!

Rudy and Nicole Vorkapic purchased this house in 2007

Why Rudy and Nicole Vorkapic chose New Orleans

Impromtu dinner nights are common in our house which has lead to our kitchen and dining becoming a favorite for friends, neighbors and family. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

Our home is just 2 blocks from the Magazine Street #11 bus which takes you directly to Audubon Zoo or right to Canal Street at base of the French Quarter. The St. Charles Avenue Streetcar is just a 5 block walk, making our home very convenient to use public transportation. Magazine Street has thrived since Hurricane Katrina and is now the most visited tourist destination in the city. From Shopping, Dining and live music venues, you have it all just a walking distance from our home.

A wonderful house! Thank you so much. Our family enjoyed our stay over Christmas and was so thrilled that you had even decorated it for the holidays. Our kids thank you! You have a wonderful home and so close to everything we wanted to do.

One of the best vacation experiences

  • 5 of 5

The location of the house is awesome. 100 yards away from the happening Magazine street with a convenient bus line to the French Quarters. The surrounding Garden district is very pretty with quaint shops, nice historic buildings and great architecture. The house is amazing. Is much bigger than it looks in the pictures. Very tastefully decorated and was very comfortable for our group of 12 (3 families). We had a great time sipping the morning tea in the backyard, having breakfast by the big dining area, catching the TV in the living room, seeing the St. Patricks's day parade on Magazine street etc.. Very very enjoyable stay. One of the best house rentals we have ever done. Nicole was super helpful in getting us oriented and replied to our texts promptly when we enquired about additional blankets. Overall, I would rate this 5+ stars. Cant go wrong with this one. The combination of the house location - the actual house - and the owner made it the perfect stay 10/10.

Great house. There were 9 of us and we all had plenty of room. The owners were easy to work with.

The house was perfect for us. There was plenty of room downstairs to hang out and all the bedrooms were upstairs. The house was very clean and I would stay here again.

Fantastic house!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family had a terrific stay at this house over New Year's. We were eight people (two couples plus four college-aged kids), and the accommodations were spacious and very comfortable for all of us. The living areas are large enough and spread out enough for everyone to find their own place as needed. The kitchen is spacious and very well supplied. We even had a few additional people over for a drink on New Year's night, and everyone was impressed with how gracious a host we could be in our temporary set-up. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and well-located for all NOLA activities. Nicole and Rudy were very helpful, always available if needed, and couldn't have been friendlier! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We'll be back for sure!

Great home in great location

  • 5 of 5

This property had it all. It was spacious and comfortable for 10 of us to spend Thanksgiving and spread out and watch all of the football games. The location was great - just a short walk to Magazine St. or St. Charles for great shopping and restaurants. The home was beautifully decorated and owners were easy to work with. So charming!
