About Eric and Rebecca Ivy

We are a married couple who built our dream lake home just after marrying in 2007. We enjoy boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking and spending time with our family. We enjoy the area where our home is located, as there is the beautiful Mammoth Cave National Forest and Park just down the road. We hope you will love our lake home as much as we do.

Eric and Rebecca Ivy purchased this chalet in 2007

Very nice home.

Too bad we couldn't enjoy it to the fullest since remnants of Hurricane Harvey dumped tons of rain on us.

Large Lakehouse with Everything You Need

  • 5 of 5

I always find that writing reviews is more helpful when you address previously raised points by other reviewers to lend insight into problems / highlights. So, here are the things I was thinking about when reading other reviews, and my reactions after:

Previously Mentioned Qualms

1. Key Issue / Dirty House: While we did have a bit of a communication issue upon arrival, it was not a big deal at all. We hung out on the porch for a bit, tossed some frisbee, and took in the views. Not a trip-altering experience by any means. When we got in, the house was incredibly clean and tidy. No dog smell to speak of.

2. Lighting is a little dark: This is probably true, and could be a little irksome if you are there in winter. However, this only really applies to the basement and the kitchen. The main room has tons to natural light. And, in the summer this didnt detract at all. After all, if you are going to a lake house to sit inside, I think you're doing vacation wrong.

3. Wifi / Reception: It works. Just was a little confusing to figure out. Suggestion would be to rewrite the Wifi instructions either on the app (it says it doesn't exist at this property) or more clearly on the kitchen counter notecard. Cell reception is terrible out here. It doesn't change the experience, but its something to know and plan around (i.e. directions) ahead of arriving at the cabin.

large, quiet, fire pit, hammock, multiple decks, clean, beautiful views, sound system is amazing, grill outside, large kitchen, large dining room table, basement is amazing, close to Nolin State Park and Mammoth Cave, boat dock at the end of the street.

Would definitely stay here again.

The home and view are wonderful. It was dirty, the sleeper sofa is broken, and smells like dogs.

We had a misplaced key issue so we could not check in and waited several hours, it seemed as though the property had not been checked over before our arrival. Not sure what happened as the owner assured us it was supposed to be all prepared before we arrived. I feel the price of the rental did not match the quality it is advertised as.

Owner's Response: We apologize if your stay was not up to par with what you expected. As you can see, from previous reviews, that is not the norm for our guests. The missing key, while inconvenient for all, was literally an act of nature, as a squirrel had managed to take the key into a nearby tree. We raced to the house from Louisville as quickly as possible, and did offer you a free night in the future. We are unaware of the sleeper sofa being broken, and have since checked on it, and have found it to be in working condition. It seems there were plenty of other sleeping options, if you had the amount of guests that you reported. If you had more guests, we were not made aware of this fact. As far as the dog smell, our housekeeper came and rewashed everything. We were not made aware of, nor gave permission for, a previous guest to bring a dog, but we do apologize and hope we remedied the problem. We hope that you will take advantage of the free night we offered for your inconvenience, and look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Sincerely, Eric and Rebecca Ivy

Country Escape

We spent the Thanksgiving holiday at the Mammoth Cave Lake house. It was clean, in a scenic setting, well equipped, comfortable beds, and welcoming. We enjoyed our holiday and made some great memories. The only suggestion is the lighting is a little dark, but that could be the type of lights and a few replacements needed. It is an easy fix I think. We loved it.
