Guestbook comments from the manager

The Guesthouse was a spectacular place to stay. A paradise only 15 minutes to the main square in Boquete. The landscaping is perfection, as is the general setting of the property in the mountains. Colorful birds and insects abound. The sky provides the perfect panorama of shifting colors and night time stars. The house itself is well built and up to western standards. Very comfy beds and living room sitting area. On top of all this the host Mary Ellen is a sweetheart. Full of energy and enthusiasm for her Panama lifestyle. I really cant say enough good things about the Alba Verde Guesthouse. It was the best part of my 17 day trip to Panama! I will be back!!! Todd

The Best Rental in Boquette!

  • 5 of 5

The house is fully equipped and nothing additional was needed. The juicer was used every morning with fresh picked oranges from Mary Ellen's trees outside the door.

We loved the house and sitting on the decks watching the clouds and birds. Very relaxing. The location is great to access the hikes.

Mary Ellen's knowledge of the area is great.

Lovely Out of the Way Guest House

  • 5 of 5

Mary Ellen has a lovely guest house that is very spacious and comfortable. Mary Ellen is very attentive and will help with any question or concern. Her neighbour Randy, is a wonderful source of information about the area as well and has a boutique coffee plantation. A tip to know here, is that you are located out of town about 20 min + so will need a rental car or use of a taxi. We used taxi's but if were staying a bit longer would have for sure rented a vehicle for flexibility. We only had 2 1/2 days in Boquete and there is lots to do so wish we had more time. Beautiful area!

Owner's Response: So glad you took Randy's coffee tour. It is wonderful to have it right here and so convenient. The major road construction project will be finished soon and the trip to town will be back to it's 10 minute maximum. The fact that no matter where one stays in Boquete, the things you will want to see are all in need of either a taxi or a rental car to access. The downside to staying closer to town is the noise. Up here on the mountain, the only thing to wake you up in the morning are the sweet birds. I truly enjoyed meeting you both and hope it proved to be a wonderful Anniversary!

Beautiful mountain retreat in a spectacular setting

  • 5 of 5

When I first saw this property on VRBO, I knew I wanted to stay there. In fact, it was one of the reasons my husband and I went to Panama. We arrived there after a long bus ride from Almirante to David, then a car trip to Boquete. Mary Ellen's directions were easy to follow, and she was there when we arrived. The house is about 10 minutes' drive from Boquete town. She showed us around the beautiful home that would be ours for 4 nights. The guest house is a fully equipped home, with lovely clerestory windows letting in natural light, and plenty of space. Everything is spotless, interior design is artfully well done, and bed linens and other amenities are upscale. The home has two lovely patios, one off of each bedroom. This would be a great space for two couples, though we liked having it to ourselves.

There is good wireless service and satellite TV, should you be able to pull yourself away from the hypnotic effect of the beauty from the windows and outdoors. We were glad to have good service because we were following Hurricane Irma, which ultimately caused us to reroute the part of our trip that went through Miami. It was nice to use Skype to call the airlines rather than running up a huge bill on our cell phones.

The grounds are filled with multicolored flowers, all seeming perfectly manicured. There are fruit trees and avocado trees. There is a meditation spot with rocking chairs surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers, with a view of the valley and volcano. The home could definitely be a destination itself, but there are may places to hike, and the town of Boquete has a number of good restaurants, and grocery stores if you want to cook in.

Mary Ellen was a wonderful host. She was helpful in myriad ways, and even went to dinner with us our first night, which we really appreciated and enjoyed. The Rock, the restaurant we went to, by the way, was on the river, and the food was excellent. She also helped us arrange a whale watching trip out of Boca Chica--a highlight of our trip. When I travel I rarely engage with the host very much, but Mary Ellen's warmth and friendliness was definitely a bonus at this wonderful house. We feel that we made a friend. And Sadie and Boone were welcoming as well. We miss our own dogs when we travel.

If you are planning a trip to Boquete, you will be fortunate if you can stay here.

This property is a destination.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had plans to do many things during our eight days here. We were going to rent a car and do day trips. We thought this property would be the perfect jumping off point. Once we arrived, we realized this was, instead, a destination. We were warmly welcomed at the David Airport by Mary Ellen. She took us to a new grocery store in Boquette on the way to Alba Verde. The property is an oasis of flowers, birds and butterflies. The view of Volcan Baru from the front porch was amazing. By the next day, we decided not to rent a car as we wanted to spend as much time here as possible. We hitched rides with Mary Ellen when she went into town to buy fresh meats, fruits and vegetables to prepare in our well equipped kitchen. When it would rain, the sound of it hitting the roof was so relaxing. Anne was able to get massages from a neighbor. We loved the visits from her two dogs Boone and Sadie. Mary Ellen brought us freshly picked bananas from her yard. They were so good! Never have we felt so relaxed and welcomed. We are coming back in the spring. When we finally had to leave, we knew we had gained a friend we will have for life in Mary Ellen.

Thank you for making our trip a lifetime memory. See you soon!

Great place with a great owner!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with my family and this is a great place for that. Nice and peaceful with lots of birds. The gardens are absolutely amazing, and there was a great spot with a look out over the mountains with a view of Volcan Baru. The house had everything you need. Mary Ellen is one of the most helpful people I have met. Always there if you need something. She showed us around town and told us of all the good places to go! From the start of the trip she felt like family!!

Highly recommend.

Chris and family.
