Guestbook comments from the manager

The Guesthouse was a spectacular place to stay. A paradise only 15 minutes to the main square in Boquete. The landscaping is perfection, as is the general setting of the property in the mountains. Colorful birds and insects abound. The sky provides the perfect panorama of shifting colors and night time stars. The house itself is well built and up to western standards. Very comfy beds and living room sitting area. On top of all this the host Mary Ellen is a sweetheart. Full of energy and enthusiasm for her Panama lifestyle. I really cant say enough good things about the Alba Verde Guesthouse. It was the best part of my 17 day trip to Panama! I will be back!!! Todd

This property is a destination.

My wife and I had plans to do many things during our eight days here. We were going to rent a car and do day trips. We thought this property would be the perfect jumping off point. Once we arrived, we realized this was, instead, a destination. We were warmly welcomed at the David Airport by Mary Ellen. She took us to a new grocery store in Boquette on the way to Alba Verde. The property is an oasis of flowers, birds and butterflies. The view of Volcan Baru from the front porch was amazing. By the next day, we decided not to rent a car as we wanted to spend as much time here as possible. We hitched rides with Mary Ellen when she went into town to buy fresh meats, fruits and vegetables to prepare in our well equipped kitchen. When it would rain, the sound of it hitting the roof was so relaxing. Anne was able to get massages from a neighbor. We loved the visits from her two dogs Boone and Sadie. Mary Ellen brought us freshly picked bananas from her yard. They were so good! Never have we felt so relaxed and welcomed. We are coming back in the spring. When we finally had to leave, we knew we had gained a friend we will have for life in Mary Ellen.

Thank you for making our trip a lifetime memory. See you soon!

Great place with a great owner!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with my family and this is a great place for that. Nice and peaceful with lots of birds. The gardens are absolutely amazing, and there was a great spot with a look out over the mountains with a view of Volcan Baru. The house had everything you need. Mary Ellen is one of the most helpful people I have met. Always there if you need something. She showed us around town and told us of all the good places to go! From the start of the trip she felt like family!!

Highly recommend.

Chris and family.

Owner's Response: Totally enjoyed your children, and the whole family. Felt like I was a part of the grandma role, even if just for a week. The dogs really miss having a little boy to play with. Please come back soon!!

Above and Beyond our Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself and 15 yr. old son had an experience I don't think could be improved upon. The house, the views, flowers, birds and overall tranquility were amazing. As if that isn't enough, the sincere care, knowledge and kindness of Mary Ellen can't be beat. We had all the comforts of home while exploring Boquete and surrounding areas. Horseback riding in Caldera, island hopping in Boca Chica, hanging bridge tour in Boquete, holding sloths and monkeys in Volcan as well as coffee tasting and Finca Ceriana nature reserve tour. Mary Ellen had great recommendations including restaurants, things to do/see, grocery shopping and getting around. She was more than happy to help in any way, is so talented and such a joy to converse with about the amazing things she has done and continues to do. Thanks so much Mary Ellen! We hope to see you again before too long!

The Best Place, the Best Host!

  • 5 of 5

All of these reviews are gushing and rightfully so, so I won't repeat. Just read and go!

Host Mary Ellen is a special person and gives her all to provide a special experience. When we initially read in her bio that she is an artist ( a good one!) and works to foster art teaching in the area I was very happy. My husband and I travel extensively and I have the goal of meeting and helping local people, generally through giving art workshops. Mary Ellen and I were a great match, and worked together to make arrangements and get the word out. We had about 16-18 people in the water marbling class I gave. It meant so much to me, Mary Ellen, and I believe to those who attended. I hope to return, teach a class, and have many more wonderful and interesting conversations with Mary Ellen.

The Guest House will be the location of the next class. Thank you for coming and bringing all your creative energy and friendship. It was much enjoyed. Hope to see you again sooner than later, Mary Ellen
