A Spacious 5-Bedroom Getaway with Marsh to Ocean Views
Welcome to Marsh Haven, a spacious beach house with spectacular marsh to ocean views, for a relaxing and fun vacation. Perfect for large or multiple families, Marsh Haven is situated on a scenic cul-de-sac surrounded by live oaks and palmetto trees. The house is 4,500 square feet, has five bedrooms, and sleeps up to 12 people. Marsh Haven, located on private, gated Seabrook Island just 25 miles from historic Charleston, is recently painted and furnished, with vaulted ceilings, beautiful wood floors, large picture windows and a three-level winding staircase.
The first floor has four bedrooms: Two queen bedrooms, one with two twins, and one with two sets of Bunk Beds (sleeps four). The living rooms on this level feature a large-screen television with DirecTV and seating area and are stocked with family games, a game table and chairs, and a full-sized pool table near a fireplace. Step outside to a deck with built-in bench and hammock to watch the sunrise or the stars come out at night. Enjoy a southern cocktail or a good book in the first floor screened porch, or throw a frisbee around the back yard.
Head up the winding staircase to find a family room with circular leather sectional sofa overlooking the marsh, and a double-sided fireplace. The chef’s kitchen is a gourmet’s dream with granite counters, two sinks, and stainless steel appliances, including a six-burner Viking Professional stove with griddle and a double wall oven. There are two stools at the counter, and a kitchen table for four. The rosewood dining room table seats 10, ready for your holiday feasts and exploration into Lowcountry cooking. Just outside the kitchen is a second-floor deck overlooking the marsh, with another table for four and an outdoor Weber gas grill. The master suite is also on this level, featuring a king-sized bed, fireplace, and an en suite bathroom with double sinks, large shower and separate tub.
Continue up to the third floor, where your family will enjoy a movie room with large screen television, DirecTV, wireless access to Netflix and Roku and a DVD library.
At Marsh Haven you have access to the private Seabrook Island Club (amenity cards included). A quick bike ride or short drive takes you to the ocean and three swimming pools (seasonal), and Island restaurants. Or, try out the fitness center, equestrian center, or world-class golf and tennis clubs (additional activity fees apply).
You will likely see families of deer meandering through the trees and birds such as snowy egrets alighting on the marsh just outside the window. Other wildlife sightings on Seabrook might include dolphins in the ocean and Loggerhead turtles on the beach. The house is near a crabbing dock, where you can catch blue crabs for dinner or launch a kayak. Just outside the Seabrook Island gate is a small village with gourmet grocery and other stores, a marina for charter fishing, sailboat charter, kayak rental, and many great restaurants. Freshfields Village is also nearby, which features a grocery store, yoga studio, and many other shops and restaurants.
Marsh Haven offers 24-hour gated security and high-speed wireless Internet access. Housekeeping fees are included in the price (for 7-night guests), as is a "starter" supply of paper products and hand soaps, and linens and bath towels. Please bring your own beach towels. A large HE washer and dryer are in the house; please bring HE detergent.
Come enjoy the natural, peaceful beauty of Seabrook Island at Marsh Haven!

Our family has been vacationing in the area for many years and we are thrilled to share our home with you. We love it in all the seasons, especially when we escape our midwestern winter or bring the kids to enjoy the beaches, pools and summer sun. Some of our family's favorite activities are biking around the Island, taking long walks on the beach, cooking Lowcountry favorites at home, and touring the historic sites and spectacular restaurants in Charleston.

Spacious home for large group of friends
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Marsh Haven, where we enjoyed a lovely week of with a group of friends and families. The house was large enough to comfortably accommodate our mixed-ages group of 11, with plenty of room to spread out on the various levels. We used the back patio each day for breakfast, reading, grilling, cocktails and deer-spotting! The pool table was the most popular place in the house most days and evenings. Great addition for gathering together adults and kids alike.
We ate most dinners in - the kitchen was large and perfect for accommodating many of us at once as we cooked, with seating in the adjoining dining room for all 11 of us. Freshfields grocery store is just 10 minutes away by car, well-stocked and easy to reach for food needs and even beach gear.
Location was great, just 5 minutes by car to the main beach club where we spent several days lounging, swimming in ocean and pool, and enjoying ocean views from the Pelican's Nest bar/restaurant. Seabrook Island's amenities were great. We watched the sea turtles hatch one day at low tide, and enjoyed a spectacular sunrise walk on the beach at 6:00 AM. The beaches were happily not crowded in August. We made a few easy day-trips to Charleston, reaching it in about 45 minutes including parking - a must for all Seabrook Island vistors.
The home owner was easy to work with, very accessible and helpful, always replying to questions promptly. As others have noted, the house is nicer in person than the website photos reveal - lots of light, modern feel, simple and tasteful decor, and plenty of lounging areas.
We would happily recommend Marsh Haven to anyone looking for a fun, laid-back beach getaway in the Charleston area!
Thank you Jennifer! We love that you experienced the best of the natural beauty of Seabrook Island. It really is wonderful to be in the quiet paradise of Seabrook, while Charleston and all its culture and fun are just a short drive away! Please come back to Marsh Haven and visit us again.
Our family of twelve, ages 12-78, returned to this wonderful house for a second visit, our memories re-enforced. The owners have added two couches on the lower level near the billiard table, which became the teens' venue of choice when not at the beach or crab dock. We watched baby turtles scampering to the ocean, kayaked in the marsh and spent a day north of Mt. Pleasant at the Center for Birds of Prey (a not to be missed facility with excellent guides!)
As before, dinners every night around an ample table, a wonderful kitchen for meal prep, plenty of spaces for alone time and an owner who responds quickly. A really good experience in every way!
Welcome back, Victoria and family! We are so happy you've chosen Marsh Haven as a special spot for your vacations. Please come again!
Great spot for a family getaway
Our multi-generational group of 10 had a wonderful stay at Marsh Haven. There was plenty of room for family gatherings, plus space for quiet time to admire the beautiful marsh views.
The four kids in our crew (ages 9-11) took many trips to the Seabrook beaches, and their grandparents enjoyed several lunches at the Pelican's Nest restaurant overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed having access to Seabrook amenities such as swimming pools and a fitness center.
There's also a nice crabbing dock a short walk from the house (you can follow Rascal Run to get there and avoid walking along the main road).
Most evenings, we gathered in the home's spacious dining room for family dinners. The kitchen was very well-stocked with cookware and utensils.
The home is a short drive to both Bohicket Marina (try the fun kids fishing tournament!) and Freshfields Village, where you'll find shopping and outdoor entertainment including concerts and movies on the Village Green.
We wish we could have rented bikes to do more exploring around the island, but they were all sold out during 4th of July week. We'll plan ahead next time!
Thanks so much for writing such a great review with details for future guests! Our kids adore walking down to the crabbing dock and we also truly love gathering everyone at the house for family dinners. Please come again!
great home, great space
great home, spacious, lots of separate living spaces. my only complaint is that it's very close to the gate and far from the club, but given the island is only 6 miles, it still isn't far overall. We had a great stay and would rent again!
Hi Jenny, so glad to hear you and your family enjoyed Marsh Haven! While the house overlooks the marsh to the ocean, you do have to go around the marsh to get to the Beach Club. It is about two miles from the house to the Beach Club. Our family's favorite way to get there is by bicycle. If we have lots of stuff to bring--picnics, chairs, beach floats-we do drive and there is a parking lot there. We are about 1.5 miles from the Gate House. Hope you come back to Seabrook Island!
Spacious home with fabulous, stocked kitchen!
Marsh Haven slept our three families comfortably. We enjoyed spending time on the decks and screened in porch as well as dining in the large dining room. Shannon is an excellent communicator who responds to your inquiries quickly and thoroughly. I would definitely return to this lovely property on Seabrook.
Hi Emmie, We hope your family visits again and we are so happy you enjoyed all the indoor and outdoor places at Marsh Haven!
Perfect choice for family gatherings
My husband and I have rented on Seabrook, during the winter, for fifteen years. So, it was a natural choice for our annual summer gathering, but that meant we needed to find space for twelve people ages 11 - 77. This wonderful house on Marsh Haven was absolutely perfect!
Lots of space for togetherness and spaces for alone time. A wonderful kitchen, really well stocked and easy for several cooks at a time. A deck off the kitchen provides a marsh view and a gas grill.
We happened to choose one of the hottest weeks in Charleston's history, so plans in the city were cancelled in favor of beach breezes and water time.
We rented bikes which gave our "grands" some independence and despite the heat, they never complained about riding the shady roads.
The house is located about 100 yards from the crabbing dock, which was used daily. During the heat of the day, the billiard table was a favorite activity.
This house is beautifully maintained, contemporary in feel (open and light) with a lovely marsh view which changes endlessly with the tides. The decorating is spare, very tasteful and comfortable. The VRBO pictures do not do it justice!
It was a pleasure dealing with the owners, who reply promptly and obviously care about this house.
Our family loved our time here and all voted to return.
Hi Victoria, It's so gratifying to hear how much you loved the house! We also enjoy the proximity to the crabbing dock, and biking all around the Island. Seabrook is by far the most bike-friendly beach town we have ever experienced. Please come back and visit us again soon!
Seabrook Island is a naturally-preserved, private Island on the Atlantic Ocean, nearby to historic Charleston, SC.
