Great stay in Aix!

  • 5 of 5

A spacious and comfortable apartment in a quiet residential area outside of the town centre. On the 3rd floor, the balcony was the perfect place to relax mornings and evenings in the company of the cigales.

The apartment feels very safe and secure and our car was safely parked off-street in the courtyard below our windows.

If you are fit and enjoy walking you will love the 15 - 20 minute walk uphill from the town centre. Otherwise there is a bus stop near the apartment.

Aix is a lovely place to visit but we found that, because we had our car, this apartment was also a great base for us to explore Marseille, Cassis and Arles.

Bright, clean apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is just as it appears in the pictures. It is very big with more than enough space for my family of 5. It was spotlessly clean and prepared perfectly for our arrival. The kitchen was well-stocked with supplies and the linens and bedding were clean and ready for us. The wi-fi was fast and having a key in a lock-box made access very easy.

It is a good 20-30 minute walk uphill from Aix to the apartment. Still, it is much easier to walk than drive into town. Parking at the apartment is tight, but we always found a spot. The apartment itself was a bit tricky to find - the apartment block is set back from the road down some steps. Don't trust GPS directions. Once we located it, we had no problems getting in or out. There is a small supermarket and bakery less than a 10 minute walk.

Overall, I highly recommend staying here. Jean-Louis was very good about communicating with us and the apartment is lovely.

A lovely flat in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We loved the flat which is just as it looks on the website, except that the view from the balcony is now rather obscured by trees. There were only 2 of us and it was wonderful to have so much space to spread out in. The flat was very clean and the furnishings made it feel like home. Being on the 3rd floor and up a hill also made it feel very light and airy. Even though it was September it was still about 30 deg. but the bedrooms are on the north and east of the flat which made them a bit cooler at night. The balcony, off the living room, is on the sunny side so perfect for eating breakfast and supper outside. The kitchen is very well provided with crockery, glasses, cutlery, rubbish bags etc. - though there weren't any instructions on where to put rubbish/recyling, ( We asked a helpful neighbour - answer 100 metres down Chemin Brunet to first turning on right). The walk into Aix is perhaps a bit longer than 15 mins but after you've done it once it gets quicker. If you're used to walking on the flat, be warned - it's downhill all the way into town and uphill all the way back but don't be tempted to take the car. It might save you 10 mins on the walk but it will take you twice as long to find somewhere to park and even longer if you miss your turning. Aix is a maze of one-way streets. There is a pharmacy, boulangerie and local supermarket with everything you're likely to need about 5 mins walking (uphill) or 1 min by car, from the door. Jean-Louis was very helpful in giving information. It was very convenient to get into the flat using codes rather than keys and it was great to be able to park just below the flat. The only snag we encountered - and this is nothing to do with the flat - was finding our way back once we had left the city. Wherever we went we always made it but never quite by the route envisaged.

Exactly what I expected

  • 5 of 5

Overall a great stay!! Loved the big tub in the bathroom and the spacious balcony with a nice view. There were plenty of towels to use which I loved as we did not bring any towels whatsoever. Situated in a quiet area very near the center of town with many things to do. We rented a car and sometimes it can be a hassle to find parking on certain hours, but really, we just needed to park a bit far when needed, that's all. And this is a great town to walk around in anyway. The washing machine was of great use and efficient while the kitchen was well stocked with different plates, pots, pans and cooking utensils.

If you have a question during your stay, message the owner, he will reply. The owner made it very easy and efficient to get us into the property which I LOVED. No hassles. Highly recommended.
