About Peter Colgan

Peter and Susan live in the Boston area. Susan is an elementary school literacy specialist, and Peter is an executive coach and medical device marketing leader. We have two adult sons, three dogs, and share our home with Susan's elderly mother. We love hiking, skiing and paddling.

Peter Colgan purchased this house in 2014

Why Peter Colgan chose Fayston

We recently purchased this property and intend to retire here in a few years. We chose the Mad River Valley because, well, the 'vibe' here is fantastic! We fell in love with this home's exquisite setting first, and the practical beauty of its award-winning architectural design sealed the deal for us. For our family, it is a place to escape, recharge, and share our love of the outdoors with family and friends.

What makes this house unique

Year-round brook music makes this place really special. You can catch brook trout right off the back patio when it's warm, and the happy babble of the water is a year-round delight!

Wonderful ski vacation in great house

  • 5 of 5

My family & I had a wonderful time at the house. The property is everything I want in a vacation rental. It was large, clean and well laid out. The children slept in their wing of the house while my wife & I enjoyed the beautiful master suite. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and I enjoyed cooking my family’s dinners. The house has plenty of property and our dog had a great time running around. The house is set back far from the street so I didn’t have to worry about the dog running out to the street. Sugarbush resort was only a short 20 minutes away. I will definitely return to this property.

This home and property was absolutely beautiful. Comfortable and welcoming in all ways. The stream rushing in the back yard, which a lovely deck over-looked, was gorgeous. Although we had rainy weather we were able to enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage through the plentiful windows.

The kitchen was well-equiped for family style cooking. We had eight including my in-laws who are both in their mid-eighties. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed.

Only wish we had it for a week to play the many board games offered, to read one of the many intruiging books on the shelves or to just sit and soak up the beauty. We were there for a short stay for a college parents weekend but soaked up what we could during our brief visit.

Also! Waitsfield was wonderful and right near by. We enjoyed dinding at the Hyde Away and the Blue Stone - both terrific.

Again, it was perfect!

A Fantastic Family Get Together in the Perfect Place

  • 5 of 5

Our children and grandchildren joined us for a Thanksgiving vacation stay. This property was our home for 3 days and I emphasize "home". Not only was this a picturesque spot in the woods and along a rippling brook, but the interior was warm and inviting. There was a room for the children, an 8, 9, and 13 year old to play and an adult family room which had plenty of comfortable seating. The kitchen was well equipped and open to the dining room and family room, so we could cook and socialize. The bedrooms were ample and those who slept to the rear could hear the brook. The master suite and bath were lovely and private. It was not so perfect that you constantly worried about this or that, but very, very comfortable, a great change and alternative from sterile hotel rooms. I would recommend this venue to families, skiers, vacationers, or as just a quiet get-a-way spot. We will cherish the memories we made there.

Week of Skiing

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for about a week in February to ski at Sugarbush, and had a great time. There's plenty of space, and our big family was able to spread out and each have some privacy. Location is conveniently close to Waitfield, Warren, etc., and it really is only about 20 minutes to the slopes. The owners were very warm and welcoming, and made us feel at home. Thanks for a great stay.

Great house, great owners

  • 5 of 5

7 of us, and 1 goldendoodle came up for a ski weekend and we had a great time. It was a short 10-15 minute drive to sugarbush and close to other towns like Waterbury. The house is great and very secluded. Peter and Susan were a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely be back.
