Overview

About the property

This home has all the features a vacation rental should have: location, comfort, cleanliness and convenience all rolled into one!

For starters, the home is located right by Tunnel Park, one of Holland's most popular beaches and parks. In addition to the beach, Tunnel Park has a large play area for kids, sand volleyball courts, grills, a huge grassy area for games and a big look-out area for lounging atop the dune while enjoying the scenery of Lake Michigan. Our home is located just past the Tunnel Park free parking on the north side of Perry Street. The park is about 2 tenths of a mile - or about a 5 minute walk.

Now, about our home. The home is light, bright airy and big. There is lots of room to roam for the kids both inside and out.

You first enter the home into the great room. This is a large room with a vaulted ceiling that features a large fireplace at the head of the room. Just above the fireplace is the large, flat-screen television with built-in speakers (which the house has throughout for the stereo system). There is a couch, loveseat, two large armchairs with ottomans, and a coffee table. Lots of windows make the room bright and cheery.

At the other end of the room is the gathering table and island. Which are both right by the kitchen. The kitchen features a microwave, full-size oven/range, dishwasher and refrigerator. The entire kitchen is updated and all the appliances work great and are relatively new. The kitchen is stocked with plates, coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils and everything you need in a kitchen. The kitchen, dining area and great room are all together so the entire group can spend time together.

Just down the hall from the great room is the first bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom features a double bed. The full-bath has a tub/shower combo, toilet and sink. The fun thing is the shower surround (at the top) is made of wine bottle corks. :)

Then, just around the corner is the master bedroom that features a comfortable queen bed and two twin beds. There is a large master bath and walk-in closet in this room. The bathroom has a double-sink vanity, large shower, and linen closet. What's kind of fun is that the master bath has a 15 foot ceiling too!

The hall from the great room also has the stairs that lead to the lower level. When you first come down to the lower level there is a play room/area. If you keep heading straight you'll come to the large third bedroom. This bedroom is huge and has a full-size dresser and a large, flatscreen television as well. It has one queen and one double bed. Another sleeping area just beyond the large lower level bedroom has three twin beds. This area is combined with the laundry area. It's well lit and very clean.

The lower level also features a large new full-bath. This bathroom has a cute vanity, toilet and large shower stall.

Just past the lower level bathroom is a laundry area with a full-size washer and dryer you are welcome to use during your stay (this area also has the three single beds).

For the outside of the home, there are several areas to enjoy. At the front entrance there is a covered porch with wicker furniture. The perfect place to enjoy that morning cup of coffee or tea while the sun comes up to start the new day.

Then, on the opposite side of the home there is a huge deck that wraps around the back and west side of the home. Lot's of room to pull up a chair and enjoy the sun or the shade (take your pick) and catch a quick catnap. There's also a huge picnic table out on the deck to enjoy outdoor eating together.

Just off the back deck is a large sitting area with several chairs around a little fire pit station and just beyond that is a fun little playhouse for the kids.

Lastly, there is also a screen porch on the back deck that can sit four to five people. The screen porch is outside the back door from the kitchen to the deck.

The home is situated back from the street so there is a private feel even in the front. The back yard is very private. In fact there are no neighbors to the west of the property...just woods and then Tunnel Park.

Although Tunnel Park beach is an easy walk, the home is still very convenient to the Ottawa Beach area, also known as Holland State Park. Holland State Park features the general store, boardwalk along Lake Macatawa, and huge state park beach. There are also hiking trails through the Mt. Pisgah area and Mt. Pisgah stairs lead you up to the top of the dune with an amazingly beautiful view of Lake Macatawa on one side, and Lake Michigan on the other. You also get a good little work out on the way up the stairs.

Downtown Holland, with it's Saturday and Wednesday Farmer's Market is about a 10-minute drive.

You also have easy access to the system of paved bicycle/walking/running trails which pass just a block away - either way you go!

The home will easily accommodate 11 people in beds. If you have a blow-up mattress, the front area in the lower level could be used as an additional bedroom. The living space in and outside of the home provide plenty of room for the whole group to enjoy.

A little surprise in Holland Mich

  • 5 of 5

it is always an adventure to rent a house for a family vacation by only looking at descriptions and pictures on line. in this case we were pleasantly surprised with the amount of space, privacy, and cleanliness of the house. it is a great find for a larger group. the backyard fire pit was a big hit for late night talks and family times. the proximity to the lake was great. thanks for the memory making week.

Great experience

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home with another family in June and had a great experience! The owner went above and beyond to be helpful and prompt in answering questions. Our kids loved the close beach, playground and bike paths. Definitely a great family house!

A great beach/family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We were traveling from the Netherlands for a family vaction having lived in Holland years ago. This house helped make our vaction perfect. It is only a 5 minute walk to beautiful Tunnel Park on a safe bike path. But if you don't want to go to the beach, (although who wouldn't) you can spend some quality time on the dek which wraps around the house. Or in the screened-in porch off the dek, or on the front porch. Even with a large group plenty of room for everyone to fit. We used the grill outside and had many meals on the picnic table. The little house is more of a garden house, and has to be cleaned first before children can play there. Then the inside...., a beautiful living room with a corner couch, a large T.V, and a (fake)fireplace for the cool evenings. The open kitchen has everything you need, and otherwise Mark will bring it to you in 10 minutes. Actually when Mark heard that our children would be joining us for our stay, he brought games, books and more chairs for everyone. We stayed with 8 adults and 4 children. The master bedroom is large with its own walk-in closet and full bathroom. The upstaires bedroom with a double bed had room for the baby bed. The upstairs bathroom is also a full bathroom with a shower/tub. The door to the downstairs is a dutch double door so you can open the top, but leave the bottom closed so that the children can not fall down the steps. Downstaires is first a large extra room which is perfect to use for the children to play. One bedroom has two double beds. The last bedroom has three twin beds. Here is the extra-large washer and dryer. (another plus for large groups). Here you also find the third full bathroom. It could be a problem to use this bedroom if you need to use the washer/dryer and someone needs to take a nap in the bedroom. (like our grand-baby had to do) Everything was so clean, with soap, toilet paper and etc. to get started which is great if you are coming in by plane, as we were. We stayed here for 3 weeks and hated to have to leave. Thank-you so much Mark, for being such a gracious host and letting us feel so welcome. We would love to come out again.

Lovely little home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this house for the winter as we were searching to buy our own house here in Michigan after relocating from Hawaii.

I instantly felt at ease upon on arrival. The property was super clean, very quiet and had a warm feel to it.

The landlord/owner is super nice and easy to do business with. We highly recommend renting this home for short/long term.
