Guestbook comments from the manager

It was so nice to come back to this great place after a long day of sight seeing. It is so comfy and cozy. I loved having a kitchen where we could cook our own meals, everything was in the cupboard just like home. It is close to shopping and fun family activities. It was nice a spacious and in a quiet neighborhood. This was just like having your own cabin in Yellowstone. I'm ready planning to come back next year.

Great location, very functional with plenty of room for a family of 4 visiting Yellowstone.

  • 3 of 5

Just over a mile from West Gate, the Cabanna is well placed and functional. Has all the tools we needed to cook in and relax after a great day in the park. We consistently had 4+ items on line, the wifi was great. An older grill (need a new one) and a bed that is past its prime prevents a top rating. Laundry just down the street, and The Running Bear (breakfast is right up the road...awesome) are both close. Overall solid stay.

Clean, adequate, great location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Alpine West Cabana. It was clean, adequate apartment for 5 people, with cute picture decor on the walls. The kitchenette was well supplied. The bedrooms were nice. Plenty of blankets were available. Good instructions told us how to gain access and what to do upon our departure.

Great location, great for a family of 4

  • 4 of 5

Great property. Convenient to amenities in West Yellowstone and to Yellowstone park. There are two separate bedrooms, which was perfect for our family. The landlords are very responsive. All the appliances and wifi work. There is a cute side patio for grilling and playing games. The bathroom includes a bath tub which is great for kids!

The only downside is that this property is listed as having laundry facilities. My son is 5 years old and still wets the bed. There is no diaper that exists that can hold the amount he can pee in a night, so we have to get up 3-4 times per night to wake him to go to the bathroom. Even so there are still often accidents. I specifically selected this property because we knew we would be washing sheets. We only found out upon arrival that there was no laundry. Luckily, we were able to get him up frequently enough during the night to avoid an accident.

Average, nothing special

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here two nights. The place is clean and adequate. However, for the price I expected much more. It was quite dated - they know how to stage the pictures to make it look much nicer. In my opinion it was not worth the price they charge for it.

Cozy, Good location

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was located far enough away from the noise of West Yellowstone's touristy area but still within walking distance of it. The rusticly decorated two bedroom, one bath home fit our family of five (three kids 13 and under) quite well. The kitchen has most of what you need to cook small meals.

Good, but pricey for what it is.

  • 3 of 5

We payed a lot for two nights here, the most expensive nights we booked on our roundtrip (and probably ever), and this place was by far the least of all the places we stayed.

Let's start with the good stuff: it's close to Yellowstone park! Also a lot of restaurants and shops nearby, and it's very quiet at night. Beds are fairly comfy, and all the basics are met (kitchenware, heating, hairdryer, etc...), and there's a grill and table and chairs outside.

However, some things annoyed us. Upon entering the home, we noticed a smell, kinda like indian food or something, and we couldn't get rid of it for the rest of our stay. Secondly, we never had access to wi-fi, which was a bummer because we use it to plan our trips, need it for work-emails and such. We understand it's not the fault of the owners, but we left them a message about it and they never got back to us. Thirdly, while everything needed was provided, it all felt a bit flimsy and old, not what we'd expected to get for the price we payed.

Well, i guess the only reason one would stay here is to explore Yellowstone, and for that it's good if you have the money and just need a place to rest your head, wash up and cook dinner. But if you're looking far enough in advance, you can surely find better for less (try Gardiner for example). This, to us, just felt a lot like the rental company doesn't really care about the property unfortunately.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the reviewer taking the time to give feedback on the Cabana. However, there are a number of things that are worth knowing before letting this review influence your decision. Firstly, while we understand the sticker shock of lodging prices during the summer in West Yellowstone and all of the Yellowstone Park gateway communities (Gardiner included), it''s unfortunate that the reviewer didn't mention or didn't know that they stayed in one of the most reasonably priced places in West Yellowstone. So, while it may have seemed expensive relative to other places they stayed, relative to $357 single rooms at the Holiday Inn and other local hotels, this 2-bed with kitchen, living room, outdoor patio, BBQ, off street parking in a quiet neighborhood house is really an exceptional deal. Unfortunately, things are pricey around the Park, in large part because mortgages are due 12 months a year but the season for paying the bills (summer) is only 4-5 months long. So, relatively speaking, this cabin is a bargain! As the reviewer mentioned, it's unfortunate that the internet provider was performing maintenance on the system while they were here, and it's something we have no control over. However, if we get a message on our office line or our emergency/after hours line, the message is always returned ASAP. The after hours number is available 24 hours a day. I'm sorry that they felt like we were unresponsive, but if a message had been left we would have returned the call. We take great pride in what we do and do everything we can to ensure that out guests are comfortable. As to the smell in the apartment, again, we do a thorough cleaning after each rental to ensure that the Cabana is clean and sanitary. However, this cabin has guests staying back to back all summer long, and most are renting a place like this so that they can cook their own meals. We do everything we can to get things as clean as possible and eliminate odors! However, we wish the renters would have let us know so we could provide them with whatever help we could to make them comfortable. We are a small, locally based and locally run company that takes great pride in what we do and great pride in pleasing our many guests! Thanks for taking a look at the Cabana, and we look forward to having you stay with us!
