The Hideaway Log Cabin is in a forest setting just south of Old Town Bandon.
You will enjoy the peace and quiet of this remote 2 bedroom/1 bath log cabin that sleeps 6, but still be able to play golf at world class Bandon Dunes or Bandon Crossings and dine in wonderful restaurants.
If fishing is more up your alley, Bandon boasts some of the best fishing anywhere be it Chinook Salmon, Steelhead, Halibut, Tuna or rock fish and Dungeness Crab.
Maybe you just want to relax, read a book or go for a hike you can do that too.
Construction of this cabin began with fir logs from nearby forests and neighboring property. It was after thousands of hours of hand work - the dream of a couple from the east coast who met, lost contact and reconnected after 20 years became a reality.
Neither of them had construction experience, but they drew plans for the cabin, took the bark off the logs by hand, wrestled them into place and notched them to fit with a saw, an ax, and an adz, and filled the chinks with caulking. The logs sit on piers of rocks found locally.
After the cabin was erected, each log was cleaned, bleached, sanded, and sealed with urethane. The homeowners built the cabinetry throughout as well as the desk and myrtle wood dining table and benches.
The work of bark beetle larvae, who made attractive tunnel designs in the wood as they ate it, is showcased in logs above the kitchen and entry.
Colorful wood ducks, who nest nearby, are frequent visitors on the pond. Wild geese come and go, and a pair of eagles has a home in the area and occasionally land on a snag visible out the living room window. The pond is not owned by the cabin and is not accessible to guests, but we invite you to enjoy the peaceful view of quiet water and the majesty of tall trees.
This cabin is a very special home and is entirely handmade.

We loved it! The rustic log cabin instantly put us in "get away" mood. Because the cabin was pet friendly, we were truly able to relax with our four-legged child as well. Morning coffee on the back porch with a view of the pond was so satisfying. We knocked off the morning chill with a small fire in the wood stove and fixed breakfast in the cast iron. It was comfortable and cozy. The kids (all young adults) took advantage of the games available, just like when we were a young family. Close enough to town, we visited Bandon's Cranberry Festival, checking out Old Town, Face Rock Creamery, and the beach. We flew kites and looked for cool rocks and shells. It was heavenly to return to the Hideaway Log Cabin at the end of the busy day! As we usually always forget something... it was so nice of the property manager to call right away so that we could pick it up before leaving town. Great weekend and very affordable! I would recommend this to friends and family as a wonderful vacation haven.
