About Andy Mosko

Chris and I grew up in Southern California. We learned to love the ocean and the sunshine. We have subsequently lived in several states but fell in love with Kauai after our first visit in 1972.

Andy Mosko purchased this condo in 2014

Why Andy Mosko chose South Shore

We purchased the Makahuena condominium in 2001 after visiting many beautiful properties in the Poipu/Koloa community.

What makes this condo unique

The inspiring moment came when we saw the spectacular ocean view from our living room and lanai. The sunsets and sunrises are special memories we have shared together. Our family and friends always look forward to staying with us in Kauai. Our grandchildren love the beaches and swimming pool nearby. Peace and comfort always greet and remain us during our stays. We extend these feelings of Aloha to our guests. Kauai is our Aloha. Andy and Chris Mosko

Terrific vacation property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed five weeks in this condo at Makahuena, and loved every minute of it. The floor plan is excellent, the view from the lanai was spectacular for the ocean, whales, and magnificent sunsets. The kitchen gear was just what we needed, and we made great use of it. For places where we stayed on past Kauai vacations, I needed a chiropractor and massage after a while, because the furniture was marginal. Not so with this vacation. Five weeks, including ten rounds of golf and lots of walking, and I had no aches or pains. All the furniture was wonderfully supportive. We have zero complaints/concerns. We definitely will return to this unit.

Views,stairs,and kids

  • 3 of 5

We liked the condo and the area of Poipu in Kauai. Being a senior couple we didn't like all the stairs. There are lots and lots of stairs.

It's a good property for a a young couple with kids. There were always lots of kids in the pool.

This property overlooks the pool which always had lots of kids.

What a great place to relax and get away

  • 5 of 5

Unit 2308 @ The Makahuena is a fantastic place to get away from the crazies of every day life... it is a place in Poi' pu where you can relax on the lani (spectacular blue water views as far as the eye can see), take a quick walk down to the beach to watch honu swim, or a stroll to Brenneke's Beach Broiler for cocktails & pupu's!

Andy & Christina have appointed the condo with comfortable furniture and all the creature comforts of home. Just stop at the grocery story on the way in from the airport in Lihue then head to Poi'pu and start relaxing. There are many great places to eat at and loads of things to do all over Kaua'i, from seeing Wiamea Canyon to the west, a great craft brew restaurant in Port Allen to fantastic beaches along the coast line to Hanalei Bay on the North shore by Princeville... Oh yeah, don't forget the malasada's (Portageese donuts that you will crave for your entire trip)... you can get a dozen to go @ Kakui' Grove Shoping center along with groceries.

Enjoy yourselves @ 2308!

Mahalo to Andy & Christina for the great accommodations!

Very nice condo on a beautiful resort

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time to the Makahuena, and we were not disappointed. One of our favourite things to do is to start each day with breakfast on the lanai, and the view from this unit is beautiful! The condo is clean and well stocked with snorkel gear, a cooler, boogie boards, and an umbrella - the only suggestion would be to supply a couple of beach chairs. Evelyn, the property manager, was wonderful to deal with - always responding quickly to any questions we had. We are planning on returning to Kauai again, and would definitely stay in this unit again.

Mahalo Andy, Christina and Evelyn!

Beautiful condo, great location

  • 5 of 5

We're 2 couples who spent a week here in February 2017. The building is in an upscale development of residential homes and fine resorts. The property is impeccable, as is the unit. We were wowed when we walked in: large, bright, airy, well appointed; the cleaner had even placed hibiscus blooms throughout and left a pineapple on the dining table. 2 bedrooms with ensuite up, and a half bath with laundry down was very nice. The beds were comfortable and the air was great for sleeping. Liked having a safe in the master. Being top floor we had a fabulous view over the pool to the ocean where we could see humpbacks spouting regularly. We had all our meals on the lanai and were treated to some lovely sunsets. The pool was great and never crowded or noisy. The BBQ area was great and we met lots of nice folks there while cooking supper. Always lots of room in the parking lot.

Poipu Beach is only 3/4 mile / 700m away: short drive or easy walk; lots of parking across the street there. We got our best snorkeling of 3 islands at Poipu: great variety of fish in clear water inside the reef right off the shore in stand-up depth.

A walk the other way from the condo is Maha'ulepu Trail along the shore; definitely worth doing as the cliffs are quite special.

It was an easy drive for groceries up in Kaloa, though we did our big groceries at Costco (which has the best view of any Costco from their lunch area!). Just down the road across the roundabout is Kukui'ula Village Shopping Centre: quite a selection of shops and the day I went there was a market; scored some nice fresh fruit. On the Poipu Road just beyond the roundabout is another small grocery store that we didn't try out, but there is a fully equipped dive shop (Seaport Divers) where I was able to get leaky masks repaired.

This condo in Poipu is situated on Kaua'i such that nothing is far: Waimea Canyon one way, Lihue, Wailua, and all the way up to Hanalei the other. In addition to it's location, we chose Poipu because it was reported as the driest part of Kaua'i; this seemed to be so when we were there.

The owners, Andy and Christina Mosko, were great to deal with, and the information they sent ahead of time was super useful. I'd highly recommend staying here - I would were I to go back to Kaua'i!
