Small, but clean and nicely furnished
The apartment was very clean and you can tell that it has been cared for. The only issue was that if we had known it was that small, 3 adult men would've probably rented a bigger place. It's more of a couples type of stay but we were comfortable. It's in a nice neighborhood. I would definitely rent again, but with the wife not the fellas.
Nice affordable location in D. C. for running MCM . we walked to Metro and arrived at all destinations timely.
Had to call Derek and he replied promptly
Only complaint was the noise level of inhabitants above us. 4 am floor creaking over head Needs to be soundproofed and more cross ventilation. In our Suite.
In need of repair
We stayed the last two weeks in September. Derek is a nice guy but I don't know if he realizes how much work his apartment needs. The apartment is well stocked and adequate for two people. It is a good 45 minute bus ride to monuments. We knew it was a bit of a ride but were surprised how long it took. The bus stops were convenient. The neighborhood was ok. Yards were not maintained and didn't see much pride in properties.
Our concern was with the black mold in the shower. The shower wasn't built correctly and doesn't drain properly. The water leaks into the walls and has caused mold in the shower, water damage to the walls into the kitchen and bathroom. The woodwork is badly water damaged. My husband got sick from the black mold. The other problems were the spiders inside and outside. The apartment needed a good cleaning of cobwebs and bugs off walls. The washer/dryer combo is nice to have but again wasn't cleaned and mold was growing on the seal. The mattress was very thin and linens worn.
The outside landscape hadn't been trimmed in a very long time. The grass was tall and made bugs happy but not us. The front entrance was dirty and full of junk and large spiders.
I read about the noise from the apartment above but thought it would be ok. It is extremely loud. You hear the people walking and moving about from early morning until they go to bed. It's very difficult to sleep. We were lucky they were early risers but also went to bed early.
I hate giving bad reviews but wish the previous reviewers had been honest because we would not have rented this apartment had we known. I took lots of pictures of the shower area because it was so disgusting. Derek needs to go in and completely redo the shower, walls in kitchen and bath plus all the water damaged woodwork. This apartment should not be rented out again until the damage is repaired and the bugs fumigated. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because he's a nice guy and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that his cleaning people haven't told him how bad the damage is.
Nice place, a lot of facilities around, we enjoyed our stay
We appreciated our week there, the only inconvenient was the noise of the neighbors from above sometimes late at night.
Perfect for our family of 4
We stayed here for 3 nights in August 2017 and would stay again for sure! My husband & I, along with our boys, ages 7 & 10, stayed here for a family vacation. It was located in a nice neighborhood with a quick 5 minute walk to the Safeway Grocery store to load up on snacks, breakfast food and dinner food, saving us a lot of $ since we only ate out at lunch. We decided to take Lyft/Uber to the National Mall each day and it was inexpensive and convenient. We actually walked to the zoo and back, with a stop in between for lunch. The house has everything you need, including some extra cooking supplies (be sure to look in cupboard above stove before making your final grocery list). Having the washer/dryer combo was great, I was able to get 90% of our laundry done before we left! Derric, the owner, was quick to respond and check-in to make sure our stay was comfortable. There was noise from the home above us, as other reviews mentioned, but we didn't hear them until the morning hours and we were all so wiped from a day of walking and exploring that it really didn't bother us and certainly won't deter us from staying here again.
Good, but not great
My family (my wife and I plus two school-aged girls) had a great time in this apartment on our recent vacation to DC. It had everything we needed: close to public transportation, a full kitchen, and two beds. The apparent is tiny, but was clean and in good condition. The neighborhood is diverse and vibrant, we loved it. Plenty of parking with the included visitor parking pass. The owner was quickly responsive to emails and helpful throughout the stay. Overall, we had a great time and would stay there again, especially for the price.
A few of the reasons it was good, but not great. The bathroom is very small and had some water damage on the walls. Very low ceilings (I'm 6' and hit my head several times in the kitchen). Very noisy upstairs (we could hear every step from the above apartment). Wifi wasn't working for two out of the three days of our trip.
Overall, a great little apartment if you are looking to stay in DC. We didn't spend too much time there as we were off enjoying the rest of the city, but while we were there it worked for us.
Thanks for having us!
