Heard every footstep from the renters above us. No sound proofing at all.
This little apt. was a perfect spot to launch our tour of the nation's capital. We very much enjoyed the convenience to the metro. Parking was a challenge to get a spot, but once we did we didn't need the car the rest of the weekend. Hoping to come back for more exploring.
The apartment was a good deal considering the amenities and the location to a metro which was about a 15 min. walk. We had trouble getting the sofa bed out but Derrick made sure to check on it for our 2nd night and he did! Was a little put off that the sheets for the sofa bed and towels were still in the dryer. No biggie but not very welcoming. The low ceiling comments are true but not a big deal and that's saying something since we are all tall in our family! The comments about the noise upstairs are also true but we were so tired by the end of evening and it was during the work week so it wasn't too annoying. Overall, it was a good stay.
We stayed at this property for 4 nights. It is warm and welcoming, close to Metro and a couple of grocery stores. The suite is very comfortable, impeccably clean, and had everything we needed from the Keurig to the wifi. The property was easy to book, and the owner answered all of our questions via email in a prompt and thorough way. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in DC.
Pros - Nice accommodations, felt like being at home. Close to many of the local historical monuments. (Take 14th NW South, easiest way). Washer/dryer was a huge help. Kitchen was very much like home.
Cons - Noise from upstairs rental was often very loud!!! Need blankets for pull out bed, (looked in bedroom closet and none were there).
Everything was great aside from having to finish drying the linens for the sofa bed upon arrival which was a bummer since we arrived late after a long days travel and we're ready to crash when we got there. The prior reviews concerning the noise from upstairs are no joke! I am pretty tolerant over that type of thing so took it with a grain of salt when booking, nobody was upstairs for the first half of our trip but once they arrived it was very obvious. I do believe there is not much that can be done to an extent due to the fact that it is row housing (got woke up the first morning by the upstairs neighbor singing who let the dogs out to his kids) which to me it the type of housing and more what I was expecting when I booked. If you book be prepared for the noise or hope for courteous tenants who will keep in mind you are downstairs (we did not get that courtesy), it does look like it is a fairly large unit so there were a lot of people moving around and kids jumping and banging on the floor ALOT! So again, just be prepared if someone is upstairs. The neighborhood was not bad, not the greatest but definitely not the worst and rhe street the home is on is very well lit at night. There are numerous restaurants and a small grocery store (has staples like milk, eggs, bread) a block away on 14th Street that we took advantage of, the metro bus is at the end of the block, and the metro rail (which is what we used for the most part) wasn't too far of a walk. The only thing that would keep me from going back would be the noise from upstairs, and mostly because even if the owner asked them to be mindful of those downstairs I don't know that he could control it.
