Cottage is conveniently located on the Gulf side of Dauphin Island, just a few steps from the water’s edge and is locally owned and operated.

Located directly across the street from our personal residence, we view, treat, and maintain this home as an extension of our own home. We hope all who enter as guests will leave as friends.

Great care has gone into planning every detail for our family and friends from clean, soft, comfortable well-maintained linens to a wide variety of cooking need utensils for your home away from home. To make your vacation more enjoyable and less stressful, we provide initial laundry detergent pods, dryer sheets, dish soap and dishwasher soap pods, full size bath soap, hand soap, 1 roll paper towels, 3 rolls of toilet tissue, kitchen trash can bags, gallon and quart storage bags, aluminum foil, Saran Wrap, basic pantry items, including spice rack, 9 beach towels, beach umbrella, assortment of beach toys, and 4 beach chairs.

The floor plan includes an open living/dining area with adequate seating for 9 people, beautiful views of the water, and large windows letting in lots of natural light. The kitchen is well appointed with everything needed for cooking family meals and includes a microwave, traditional coffee pot, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, hand mixer, blender, crock pot, convection oven, dishwasher, and all the flatware, glass, dish, serving dishes, and cookware needed for a family of 9. The center island is great for food prep and offers comfortable seating for 8. A rectangular drop leaf table provides additional seating for 2 people. A full-size gas grill and picnic table are available for cook-outs and outdoor dining.

There are 2 master bedrooms, each furnished with a king bed and private bath with single vanity and shower. The northeast guest room (mermaid room) is furnished with a set of twin beds and the center north bedroom has a full/twin bunk bed. The third bath is located off the hallway and is a single vanity with tub/shower combo. All bedrooms are equipped with flat screen TVs and DVD Blue-Ray players for your enjoyment.

The oversized covered porch is perfect for relaxing, dining, reading, or just watching/listening to the waves. When dolphins are swimming close to shore, they can often can be seen from the porch.

Before you request to book our home, please take time to carefully review the available sleeping accommodations (a total of 9 people including children, 6 available beds), maximum occupancy limit (9 people, including children), terms and conditions outlined in rental agreement, pet policy, and restrictions/policy on use of the home. Advance written approval is required to exceed the occupancy limit. If you have questions concerning these restrictions, occupancy limit, pet policy ($100 per pet, non-refundable, limit 2 pets, under 20 pounds each), etc., please inquire before requesting to book.

Dauphin Island is known for its shell collecting, fishing, bike and walking trails, a wonderful bird sanctuary, Estuarium and Sea Lab, and historic Fort Gaines. Other attractions in the Mobile area include the USS Battleship Alabama, Bellingrath Gardens and Home, and the historic antebellum homes. Or, you can take the ferry from Dauphin Island to over to Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores.

Summer Season: Reservations for the summer season are a minimum of 7 days and rental period is Saturday to Saturday. A reservation deposit as indicated on VRBO booking site is due at the time of booking unless other arrangements are agreed upon in writing. If reservation deposit is mailed, it must be received within 10 days of making reservation. The deposit may be made by mailed check or credit card or e-check using the VRBO web site. The balance of fees is due according to the schedule agreed upon at time of booking. Summer season rentals must be paid in full 60 days prior to arrival, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. See owner rental agreement for cancellation policy.

Payment of rental fees for stays of less than 7 days are due in full at time of booking, unless otherwise agreed to in writing.

Check-in is 4:00 p.m. on day of arrival and check-out is 10:00 a.m. on day of departure.

Mike and I live directly across the street from Ke O'hana Hale with our little Shih Tzu, LiLi. We are available to answer any questions or just sit and chat. You will feel like you already have neighbors. We have been island property owners since 2002.

What makes this cottage unique

A big draw for this house is the wonderful covered porch facing the Gulf and its convenient location. It is Gulf-side, a mere 90 second walk from the water. iI is perfect for citizens because it is not high off the ground like so many of the newly constructed rentals.

A True Home Away

This property epitomizes a “Home Away”. We felt at home the moment we stepped in the door. Kathy and Mike Stockton generously thought of EVERYTHING we needed for our spring break vacation. This was our first time using VRVO. Our daughter and son-in-law booked a house on Daulphin Island for a vacation with their six children and then invited us to join them. We agreed to come, but we wanted our own house. I randomly chose the Stockton’s house. Because it was big enough, I registered for four adults and four children on the chance that our son’s family would join us. Even though they declined, I was glad I’d done that because our daughter’s house was quite a disappointment. Ours was more than I could have imagined. Our daughter’s family arrived at their house before we made it to the island. When we arrived we went directly to their house, did a walk-through, and then found them at their beach right at dinner time. I’ll be forever grateful to Don for taking us in, poolside, at “Pirates’ Cove”. It was a beautiful evening and the kids were able to swim while we waited for dinner. It was a happy way to begin. Kathy Stockton let me know ahead that Daulphin Island’s grocery was small so we shopped for the major food items on our way. My plan had been to base out of our daughter’s house for meals. Our daughter wanted to see our house before we unloaded the groceries. While Kathy toured me through the house, those groceries were unpacked and loaded into our refrigerator and cupboards before I could blink. Our two granddaughters squealed when they saw the “Mermaid Room”, our oldest grandson ogled the “spare” room with the private bath and his brother drooled over the other “spare” with a TV. My mind planned individual “sleepovers”. The next morning all four (ages 13-5) showed up with their suitcases. Who could blame them? The truth is, I could not have “planned” a better vacation. Even when the weather wasn’t perfect, the kids were able to enjoy the beach and fishing at the pier. Cooking in Kathy’s well-equipped (including every spice I could want!) kitchen with my granddaughter was a pleasure. Fresh Blue Fin Tuna on the grill, DELICIOUS! When mom and dad left after dinner with our three-year-old twin grandsons, the rest of us had a great time with the house games and movies. The Stocktons’ respect for their guests is evident by the personal touches they share with us. I noticed a new feature every day. I hope every guest appreciates this "Home Away".

We love this house and the owners! We stay here year after year and it gets harder and harder each year to leave both this place and our second family! Girls getaway

What a wonderful cottage! Can't beat the location, either. Both Kathy and Mike went beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and tended to our needs when necessary. I would definitely go back and bring my family next time. My peers loved this place and are already talking about going back for our next girls' getaway. Thanks, Kathy and Mike!

Perfect Location and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!

Loved this house with great view of the Gulf and literally less than a one minute walk from porch to sand. You get beachfront benefits without beachfront prices. This house has everything, and I mean everything you could possible need except swimsuits and sunscreen. If cleanliness is important to you, you're gonna love this place. SUPER CLEAN! Comfy bed with soft linens. Kathy contacted us after arrival to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again.
