About the property

Tube on the Little River or Fly Fish or take a walk on the bike trail.

River Mist has a great location right on the Little River. This was a 1950's house. Fixed up to be more like a cabin. But the bath rooms are still the same as it was when built. Making it very special if you like retro and modern together. Short distance out the front. There's a walking/bike trail that takes you the full length of Townsend. Ride or walk to store or restaurants. Big yard to play in. Black top drive pulls right into a 2 car carport. Having 2 nice size bed rooms, 2 baths. You have enough room for extra people to put out our roll away beds and have privacy. Nice size front room with Satellite TV, couches with recliners to relax. Big full kitchen with everything you will need to make snacks or big holiday meals. You can sit at the kitchen table and take in the river view out the sliding glass door. Cabin has plenty to offer for everyone.

About Randy Schultz

Moved here years back. Reason being, you will never find a prettier town or village to live in. Work 25 years in a Tool Factory. Came here and started a cabin rental company. It's been the best think I have ever done. There's no place closer to thinking your in Heaven than living in the Smoky Mountains

Why Randy Schultz chose East

River Mist offers some super moments. You never know what your going to see fly over or land in the river. My see some otters or baby duck and geese swim by. The water color changes with every season. The winter is the best. It turns to a emerald green. But still crystal clear so you can see the fish and turtles.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

You can fly fish, kayak, tube, or just lay back and enjoy the cool water in the summer months. It can get pretty funny watching the tuber float by sometimes. The hot tub is under the carport. So you can cool down in the river. Run back up and warm up in the hot tub. With a big yard there's plenty of room for all the family to play.

My stay was good. But I do not like being continually about giving.

My family and I loved this house! It really is right on the river, great for tubing. Also, really convenient to get to Cade's Cove.

Nice vacation

  • 4 of 5

Not fancy but clean, comfortable and easy check-in/check-out. Great convenient location on the river but a little too busy/crowded for us old folks with all the tubers coming and going. Great for kids, our grandson had a blast. Fishing was pretty good early and late before and after the tubers. Caught small mouth and rock bass (red eyes) but couldn't get the trout to bite anything. Would definitely come back after tubing season for the fishing or any time of year with the kids. Randy was very responsive and easy to deal with.

Located on the Little River in Townsend, Only 10 miles to Cade's Cove, bike , walk , tube

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented River Mist for the weekend in Townsend. We loved being right on the river. The house has large back decks so you can be just steps from the river's edge. We rode our bike's Sunday am from the rental on the walking / bike trails there in Townsend. No loading up the bikes, just jump on them and go. We love Townsend, the peaceful side of the Smokey Mountains. It is only 10 miles to drive to Cade's Cove. We went to Cade's Cove to hike and bike the 11 mile loop. House was clean, everything we needed. Hot tube was nice , located on the carport, over looking the river. I would rent again. Randy was helpful and answered my calls and texts promptly. We had trouble with the internet and he helped correct that.

Very comfy and welcoming.

  • 4 of 5

The house was great. It had everything we needed and was absolutely spotless. It's right off the parkway, easy to find and you don't need four-wheeled drive and nerves of steel to get in the driveway. The river is right out the back door, although it might be hard for an older person to get right down to the bank. The house itself is very accessible with only a few steps to get in and there were sturdy railings on all parts of the deck. The river is also pretty deep at this spot, better for fishing than some places. It was very quiet and private, not squeezed up against another cabin. (Tubing season was over when we were there, I'm sure it's more noisy during the summer.) The only thing that I could recommend would be some instructions for the TV/DVD, we never did totally figure it out. Oh, and Verizon did not have a good signal at the house, enough to talk on the phone, but not enough to reliably get online. There are plenty of places in town that do have a decent signal, you just have to remember to look up your restaurant reviews, information on attractions, etc. when you're out. It would be great for keeping kids engaged and not huddled over their phones all day. We had way more room than we needed and would love to bring the whole family sometime soon.

River Mist is right on the Little River. So you can go swimming, fishing, canoeing or kayaking any time you want. Bring your own bikes or rent them here in town. Bike/walking trail is a right up in front of the cabin. You can go the full distance of town on both sides of main road. It's almost 5 miles from one end of town to the other. Great way to enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains surrounding our wonderful town.
