The 'Villa Maria Guest Rancho' is a recently renovated heritage farmhouse on a still active cattle ranch - ideal for vacationers, only 20 min. from the Montevideo airport and in short distance to some beautiful sandy beaches and local shopping - here you find this classic house from the turn of the last century with a colorful garden, shady patios, and tranquil pastoral views. It's the ideal place for somebody that enjoys to connect to country and people, likes countryside living, and to explore the area - but does not like to stay in the city nor the busy seaside towns.

The Villa Maria is furnished with a delightful mix of modern and antique furniture and offers two spacious bedrooms, one bathroom, a great kitchen/dining area and two living rooms as well as three covered patios - one with an outdoor grill (parillero) - and private courtyard. The main living/dining/kitchen area has a insert fire place for heat for cooler nights. The 2012 undertaken renovation of the entire building and it's outbuildings has produced an appealing and harmonious mix of heritage elements and modern amenities that gives it's unique and warm environment. To the west the farm house is surrounded by the pasture of the farm with a year around creek that invites for strolls through the property. The tall Eucalyptus trees along the creek are home to a year around parrot colony and many other birds.

From the farm it is 10 min. to the next bigger city - Pando - which offers all sorts of shopping, restaurants, and some cafes as well as a weekly market on Sundays. From here it is only 15 min. to the beautiful sandy beaches south and north of Atlantida. For city lovers - Montevideo, with it's sights and buzzing life is about a 30-35 min., the well known area around Punta del Este is about a 90 min. drive.

(For safety and security - the house is equipped with an alarm system and the caretaker, Jose, lives two house next to the main house)

WE BOUGHT IT AS A AGRICULTURAL PROPERTY, BUT THE OLD HERITAGE FARMHOUSE INVITED TO DO MORE - SO WE RENOVATED AND BUILT - AND ENDED UP WITH WHAT WE BELIEVE IS A LOVELY COUNTRYSIDE HOUSE WITH ALMOST ALL MODERN AMENITIES AND CLOSE TO THE CAPITAL AND THE VERY NICE BEACHES.

FOR US THE PLACE IS THE PERFECT SPOT TO HAVE A COUNTRYSIDE STAY - BEING CONNECTED TO PEOPLE AND COUNTRY - COMBINED WITH THE OPTION OF GOING TO THE BEACH WITH THE KIDS IN THE LATE AFTERNOONS AND ENJOY SOME BEAUTIFUL SURF CLOSE BY. FOR SOME EVENINGS OUTINGS WE SOMETIMES CHOOSE TO GO TO THE BIG (!!) CITY, ABOUT A 35 MIN DRIVE - BUT ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO BE BACK AT THE FARM. THE LOCATION MAKES IT CENTRAL PLACE FOR MOST OF THE AREAS THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST - DAY TRIPS TO MONTEVIDEO OR PUNTA DEL ESTE OR FURTHER UP THE COAST ARE IN EASY REACH AND IN SUCH DISTANCE SO YOU CAN BE BACK FOR YOUR GLASS OF LOCAL WINE ON THE PATIO BY SUNSET. TALKING ABOUT WINE - THERE ARE QUITE A NUMBER OF WINERIES CLOSE BY.
