About Paul Nicholson

I inherited the house when my mother passed away in 2005. I own bicycle shops, my wife is a Professor at the University of Oregon. We love hiking, biking, and boating, and outdoor recreation in general.

My wife and I live in Eugene, Oregon, so the Cottage is a vacation home for us. Much of my family still lives in the Marion area.

Paul Nicholson purchased this house in 1982

Why Paul Nicholson chose Marion

As the eldest, I had first choice of Marion family properties. I chose this one because it is such pleasant comfortable house, and right in the center of the village.

What makes this house unique

Great location in the center of one of New England's charming historic villages. Within 100 yards of our cottage, you will find both Village Restaurants, Tabor Academy, the town pier and beach, the post office, the library, the art center. the general store, and dozens of historic 17th and 18th century houses and churches.

Great Location in Heart of Marion

  • 5 of 5

Well kept home in a private setting within walking distance of Tabor, the dock, General Store and especially Harriet's take-out next door! Even though the kitchen is well equiped for cooking, it was just too convenient to walk a few steps to Harriet's and pick from all the deliciously prepared foods. We really hate to tell

everyone about this little gem because we want to keep it to ourselves.

We will return for a longer stay.

Thank-you Paul.

Unforgettable time in Marion

  • 5 of 5

We stayed one week in the very nice cottage. An ideal point for relaxing at the beach or sightseeing at the east coast of USA. The cottage is very well, comfortable, clean and we found all the necessary comfort we need. The cottage were clean and well-maintained. All machines and items were available as we saw in the offer. Together with friends we used the cottage and we found place for all activities. I'm sure it wasn't the last visit in this cottage. The customer se vice by the owner (outside) and his sister (she lives near the cottage) we're excellent. We would like to say THANK YOU for the unforgettable time in this area!

Some recommendations for restaurant: The Turks and Brew and Fish - here you can find excellent dishes with fish, lobster, shrimps and also burgers or salads! Furthermore near Marion you can find Cape Code, Newport, Fall River..... All places are good for relaxing, sightseeing (like Museum of the USS Massachusetts) and other activities. We loved to walk the complete Cliff walk in Newport and to see one side the coast and on the other side the very nices houses or better palaces.

A simple cottage with a convenient location in lovely Marion

  • 5 of 5

11 Cottage Street was perfect for us, we walked everywhere particularly to our water related activities. Air conditioning and the absence of fussy curtains made the house feel cooler in the blistering hot weeks we were here. The shady driveway is also a plus for the car.

Paul was very responsive when we had problems; an entirely satisfactory person to deal with. The cottage is certainly on our rent again list.

Easy-breezy cottage in lovely coastal town

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Paul's Marion cottage. The house was more spacious than we anticipated with an airy cathedral ceiling in the living room, three generous bedrooms, two full baths, a separate sun/TV room and pleasant open kitchen. Furnishings are pretty minimal (no decorative touches such as drapes or wall hangings), but that didn't matter much to us. More important: the beds were comfy and the place simply felt good. Renters may want to be aware that the house shares a driveway with a (delicious!) catering company, so there is some truck and car commotion, though that didn't trouble us. All in all, we found this a pleasant and affordable home in a truly lovely seaside town.

Light, airy very comfortable and clean. Two minute walk to town, and harbour. I loved the house and will stay there again. Lovely wrap around deck too. One week not enough time, would rent for two.

Wonderful!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Marion. It is such a charming little town and a great find coming from the west coast. Paul's house is perfect! It had everything we needed and you could not beat the location. It was clean as a whistle and felt very homey. It was a plus having Patty's deli right next store for quick treats. We will be back!!!
