Magical Cabin! Magical Mother's Day Weekend!
The Magical Log Cabin was exactly that! Our family had a truly magical Mother's Day weekend there! We hated to leave:) We loved the cabin's huge open living/dining/kitchen floor plan and the vaulted ceiling only made it seem more spacious. There was so much room throughout the cabin - more than you realize from the photos. We had room for all of us to spread out and feel comfortable. The decor is a mix of log cabin and whimsy. It was exactly right for us! And as wonderful as the cabin was, the best part of the property is the awesome area down by the creek! The gazebo, the fire pit, the swings, and the rushing waters of the creek are all so special and made our stay there amazing! Thank you Debra and Jeff for a wonderful long weekend! We can't wait to come again!
Spacious and comfortable bedrooms with king or queen sized beds. Owners easily available while we were there and took care of any issues that came up asap. Nice creek with opportunity for hiking up the creek to a water fall. Decks surround most of the cabin and offer sunny opportunities and the screened porch protects nicely if it rains. It is a healthy walk down steps to the creek which it is lit adequately at night. Great fire pit and the Gazebo has Bluetooth speakers to enjoy your device music. The location is close to shopping and many other things to do. If there is a downside it is the internet speed 4Mb max. and cell phone reception spotty. But that for some would be an upside. Our Family enjoyed our stay. The time just flew by.
Hi Ralph & Rose Marie & Scott too!
It was a pleasure meeting all of you and your family. We enjoyed hosting your 2 week stay at our Magical Log Cabin on the creek very much. So glad you made it down to the waterfall. We hope you will return soon!
Did not want to leave.
First off....pictures do this cabin not justice at all. We have rented different cabins every year in the Georgia/NC/Tenn area for the past 10 years. We have stayed in mountains, on lakes, by waterfalls...My wife wanted to stay near Helen this year. I was kinda sad that there werent any "mountains" here. Came across this cabin and my wife liked the idea of a creek for the kids to play near. I felt "eh" and booked it. Once we got there and I saw the place, it quickly became my favorite cabin we have ever stayed.
It was my wife, 3 kids and I, my college roommate his wife and 2 kids and my mother in law. The place had plenty of space for the 10 of us. The kids loved the shuffleboard. If you like food and shopping, Helen is 15 minutes away and is a VERY unique town with great German food. We hiked 2 amazing waterfalls (10 minutes and 20 minutes) and hiked up a local mountain (Yonah) which was a great workout and incredible views. A winery is also close by.
The grocery store in Helen is cute, buy EXPENSIVE. There is a cheaper option about 10 minutes outside of Helen.
There havent been too many times I really thought I would ever book the same cabin again. They were great but nothing magical. I would not hesitate to come back here. Between the close attractions, and the AMAZING cabin...you really arent left wanting more. Just set aside a day to spend outside by the creek and fire-pit.
Thank you Michael for sharing your experience at our Magical Log Cabin on the creek. We call it magical because you cannot capture the ambiance of this cabin in photos. Every guest experiences the WOW factor when they check in:) The smell of the mountain air, the sounds of the creek and the unique features of this cabin make for a 5 star vacation. They say that the Indians blessed this area before leaving on the Trail of Tears. The grounds here radiate positive energy and that is the magic of this property:) We hope you will return soon:)
We loved it!
My Fiance and I went up there with two other couples to celebrate our friends birthday and we had a wonderful experience. the photos do not do this house any justice! It's absolutely beautiful and has so many things to offer! Don't miss out on this hidden gem! the 6 of us have already decided to make this trip a yearly thing and we will most defiantly be returning to this house! Thank you Jeff and Debra for making this a wonderful weekend!

The cabin is spacious and beautiful. There is clearly pride and great care taken in this home. The owners were tremendously helpful and even mailed our computer to us after we left it at the cabin. We could not have been more pleased! This cabin, its location, which is near to so many sites and its owners come with the highest recommendation.
Dear Travis & Liz,

Helen is just the beginning. The history of our area is as follows.
The Legend Of Sautee & Nacoochee
The Legend of Sautee and Nacoochee is well documented. The first White settlers, coming up the Unicoi Trail, now known as Georgia Highway 17, heard the story as they stopped to rest in the shade of the giant white oak, still standing adjacent the Old Sautee Store. (Hwy 17 & 255).
One among them, George Williams, a young lad at the time, retold this story in his memoirs. The Cherokees considered themselves to be a superior race, as indeed they were. Handsome, tall and intelligent, they even had an alphabet, the first in America. They were not nomads, they built log houses and tilled the soil. They had but one grievous fault. This superiority was allowed to show. Naturally, this did not endear them to the neighboring tribes. One of these, the Chickasaws, was constantly at war with the Cherokee.
However, there were moments of relative calm. During one such truce, a band of Chickasaws was allowed to cross over Cherokee land, provided they stay on the Unicoi Trail and rested only at designated spots. One such spot was where two trails crossed at the junction of two lovely valleys, the same place where - a century later, a young George Williams stopped. As the Chickasaw band rested, in the shade of the giant oak, around them gathered curious Cherokees, trying to get a closer look at the dispised Chickasaws. Soon they were trading insults and obscenities. The Cherokees were hoping to bait the Chicasaws into making an overt act. But, the Chickasaws were too cagey to be trapped by such obvious maneuvers.
One of the Chickasaws stands aloof from this bickering. It is Sautee: young, handsome and a chief's son. He dreams of the day when he will be chief. And has the authority to negotiate permanent peace with the Cherokees. Some of this greatness must have shown, for Nacoochee, the Cherokee chief's 16-year-old daughter, is so taken by this handsome stranger that she stares unashamedly. Then their eyes meet. The magic alchemy of love does the rest. Not one spoken word - and yet a tryst was made.
That night Nacoochee steals away from her father's log house to meet with Sautee, under the giant white oak, now known as the Sautee Oak. By this time, they are helplessly and hopelessly in love. The rest of Sautee's party, counsels against this madness. No good could come of this flagrant violation of their truce. If Wahoo, the girl's father, learned of this meeting, all would be doomed. But, then, as now, teenagers feel they must defy the establishment. "Run, if you must," Sautee tells his followers, "but, I remain here with Nacoochee. Together we will make Wahoo understand. This must be the first step to a lasting peace between our two nations.
The couple secretly spent time together in a secret cave within Yonah Mountain. Despite their private affair, both felt compelled to bring their love to the Chief for approval, never dreaming that they would not receive his blessing.
To the young couples surprise, the Chief was blinded by anger when his daughter presented Sautee as the man she loved, not only ordering him away, but ordering him to be thrown from the highest cliffs of the Yonah Mountains. Nacoochee was forced to look on to her lover's demise. Overcome with grief, and unable to see a life worth living without Sautee, she too threw herself from the high cliffs. They were united at the cliff's basin, joined forever in death. Wahoo, the Chief, found the fallen couple in an endearing embrace, realizing too late that his daughter's love was in fact her fate. Wahoo becomes overcome with remorse, something he will live with the rest of his life , choosing to leave the couple united in death at the mountain's basin.
Today, that burial mound still stands at the Junction of Georgia Highway 75 and Highway 17. The valleys were renamed, one for each of the fallen lovers. While you're up visiting at the cabins in Helen, GA stop and to pay respects.
