Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Victoria,

Thank you for letting us use you beautiful home. It was so well appointed with beautiful artwork, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I am an avid cook, and I really appreciated the fact that you had the kitchen stocked with everything I needed to feed our guests and family -- beautiful pots, pans and baking dishes so I could make my bubbling apple-cranberry cobblers, Chinese noodle salads, chicken and cashew stir-fry dishes. We had so much fun cooking we never even went out to a restaurant. It was much more fun making the food together and eating in such beautiful surroundings, just relaxing and enjoying each other's company, rather than having to drive to a restaurant, eat, then having to get up to leave to go home.

We also enjoyed being so close to Stowe -- we took in all the sites and especially enjoyed renting bikes and riding the Recreation Path that winds throughout the Stowe meadows and streams. After a fun day, we returned home and had a bonfire every evening, and then retired to the beautiful family room, sitting in front of the fireplace playing games and telling stories.

Thank you for creating a wonderful inviting atmosphere in your home to make our stay so enjoyable for myself and my family.

Beautiful home convenient to Stowe and Waterbury

  • 5 of 5

This was an excellent home base for our group of 8 adult family members in town for our son's wedding in nearby Waterbury. It was nice that each guest or couple had their own bedroom with ensuite bathroom, yet we could all gather in the open, expansive great room/kitchen area. Mike, the property manager, met us when we arrived and was very friendly and responsive throughout our stay. The garden surrounding the home is just beautiful and with the bedroom windows open at night we could fall asleep to the sounds of the waterfall by the nearby mill. The weather didn't cooperate for us to try out the hot tub or fire pit, but they both looked very inviting. The kitchen had anything we could possibly need.

The place is great and the location is very nice. Be very careful. Especially, if you have any kids or plan on cooking in the kitchen. The owners charged us for a lot and asked us to claim insurance. I would just be cautious.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate reviews and pride ourselves in trying to help our guests enjoy their stay creating fond lifetime memories of Stowe. Accidents happen. We cast no blame but rather just expect the property be brought back to the original condition in which the guests found it when walking through the front door at the beginning of their rental. Hot tub servicing with this particular guest was required as the hot tub was unusable at the end of the rental. As with this and every guest that may need assistance (tripping an alarm, locking themselves out, etc.) we continue to offer our help. It is unfortunate that this particular guest misinterpreted our willingness to assist with their insurance claim. Additionaly, this rental took place over Thanksgiving and it appeared that a Thanksgiving feast was enjoyed. We contract out the cleaning service and it took 3 times the normal length of cleaning required to bring the kitchen and dining area back to the original condition. It is sad when parents cast the blame on children when it is their responsability to respect the rental property.

Beautiful home in a quiet area of Stowe

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Heron's Nest for a week In March while my son raced in the Eastern Championships at Stowe. What a beautiful, comfortable home it was to stay in! The owner has taken great pride in the amenities of the home. Every detail is thought of. Plenty of cooking supplies and dishes. Tons of seating for dining and lounging. The home has a fabulous great room with tons of windows for natural light and a cozy gas fireplace for the evenings.

Each of the bedrooms had very comfortable beds and each has it's own en suite. There is also a private bedroom and bathroom with living space in the silo. This was great as my son's coach stayed with us and it offered him complete privacy.

The owner, Vickie was great to work with and answered all of my questions. When there was a problem with the wifi, the care taker, Mike had it fixed in less then an hour.

I can't say enough great things about Heron's Roost. Thank you, Vickie! If we ever need to stay in Stowe again, I know just who to call!

What a great time. My family and and spouses all arrived to this beautiful Vermont home for a weekend wedding in July. what a spacious and comfortable home for the 8 of us. Lots of room to enjoy each others company and still have privacy if needed. great outdoor setting for running, walkng and exploring. Close to Stowe Village and a fantastic shop right around the corner for the best fresh baked apple turnovers. I give this the highest recommendation and can't wait to get back again. Thank you Ron and Victoria.

We spent a week with my husband and friends in that luxurious home. Very well appointed and comfortable, you feel like at home. The kitchen has everything and more. The bedrooms are spacious with large and soft beds.

We enjoyed this house as it has space to accommodate our large group while still leaving space for quiet areas.

The large glass windows open on the garden, and let the sun inundate the huge living room. We loved the feeling of being part of nature ( while sitting comfortably in the plush fauteuils. ). It was our first time in Vermont and we will return in this house.
