Overview

About the property

One bedroom with full kitchen and bath with town and mountain views

Private apartment (562 sf) with separate entrance downstairs from family on 23 acres, separate bedroom with queen bed, walk-in closet, dresser, full kitchen with breakfast and dining table, bathroom with radiant floor heat, full-size W/D, quiet cork flooring, wifi, and TV/DVD. We are right next to hiking/biking/running trails which connect to the valley trail system. We live in a peaceful rural setting with views of town and mountains. If you are interested in outdoor activities in an educated mountain town, Bozeman in southwest Montana is ideal. We are ten minutes from town, twenty minutes from our local downhill ski area and from an Olympic-class cross-country course as well as one hour from Big Sky and Moonlight Basin Ski Resorts. We encourage you to visit our first national park, Yellowstone, filled with geysers, bison, wolves and grizzly bears. It is truly spectacular. Note that this is a smoke-free property--due to fire laws and the health of all of our guests, no smoking is allowed anywhere on the property. Thank you for your understanding. In the winter, we recommend a 4WD/AWD vehicle.

About Pamela Poon

We are two professionals who enjoy travel and outdoor activity. We have traveled extensively in Asia and some in Europe, Mexico, and the South Pacific. One or both of us enjoy rock and ice climbing, back-country and downhill skiing, and backpacking in wilderness areas. We are also love to read and go to local theater and performing arts events. We have two grown daughters who live in California and come home to visit when they can. We also have a very friendly 4 year old golden retriever.

Pamela Poon purchased this apartment in 1998

Why Pamela Poon chose Yellowstone Country

We chose this property because we enjoy the peace of a rural mountain life. The air is clear, red-tail hawks, great-horned owls and coyotes often sing us to sleep. We see snowshoe hares dance in the winter-and the occasional black bear comes by in the fall!

What makes this apartment unique

We are surrounded by more than 1000 acres of undeveloped land, but are close to town for work and entertainment. The mountain views from our house are splendid and the lights of town are terrific at night. Coffeehouses, an artisanal bakery, and even Walmart are ten minutes away but we away from it all too.

There just aren't words to describe how amazing this place is!

  • 5 of 5

I must say, my husband initially gave me a hard time about booking a stay at someone's home. However, after staying at Pam and Robin's, he couldn't stop talking about how "perfect" the set-up was. He called it an "eye-opening" experience to a whole new way of booking travel! First, the apartment was super clean!! I generally complain about cleanliness at hotels--he was glad I was comfortable as it made for a more pleasant vacation for us both--haha! Next, it initially looked as if it was pretty much in the middle of nowhere. However, it was a 5 minute (or less) drive into town! It was seriously the perfect location--gave us the feel of being in Montana without making us feel too secluded! Lastly, as my husband described the hosts--Pam and Robin--they are "good people". Just can't say enough about how beautiful Montana is and how much we enjoyed this experience! Thank you so much Pam and Robin! You are truly some of the nicest people we have met! We look forward to returning one day with the rest of our family!:-)

The Moose and the Horses

  • 5 of 5

A repeat renter from Massachusetts, I always value the privacy up on the hill at Pam and Robin's property at the end of a long day of touring and seeing family. The apartment is a great location with a short drive or bike ride into downtown Bozeman. If one is staying for any length of time, the washer/dryer is a bonus. Almost on a daily basis I found myself at the Stockyard Cafe at 7 am for a good breakfast and conversations with some of the local folk. I always try visit different areas when in Montana...this trek was no different as I discovered secluded areas on the east side of the Crazy Mountains, and the annual herding of a hundred of so horses up the mountain on the winding gravel road to Jardine. I also watched as the horses down the road, Bella and Mic, had a stare down with a moose at dusk one evening. Don't forget to arise at 3 am one morning, and go out on the deck, and view the wonder of the Montana night sky and stars.
