The view deck and forest deck both have a barbecue for your use. The 'back 40', our backyard, is also available for use and has an infant tree swing.

Idyllwild has been designated as one of America's 100 Best Art Towns. Our cabin is in a quiet beautiful residential area, close to hiking, biking, restaurants, shops, and the many cultural and art events. You are also less than an hour's drive from the desert and Palm Springs.

We will be there when you arrive, ready to help plan your stay and assist you as needed. We'd like to invite you up on the deck in the evening to enjoy a glass of wine, beautiful sunsets and conversation.

When we're in Idyllwild, we feel at home. People are friendly and the pace is easy-going. Our neighborhood, in the Upper Fern Valley area, is just over a mile to the village with its outstanding restaurants, antique shops and many unique art galleries. Music abounds 'on the hill', at restaurants, our local wine bar and numerous special events like Jazz in the Pines in August. The Idyllwild School of the Arts provides multiple artistic performances throughout the year. Then there's the Rustic Theater if you want to take in a movie.

Natural beauty surrounds you in Idyllwild. Hiking, biking, climbing and winter sports (when there's snow!) are all popular activities. Mt. San Jacinto, Lily Rock, Devil's Slide, Suicide Rock, Dark Canyon, Marion Peak, Lake Fulmor, Lake Hemet and much more await your exploration! We can recommend some of our favorites if you like.

Our cabin has lots of level, easy access parking and is on a regularly plowed road, so snow is not a major problem.

About Bob Greenamyer

We are avid travelers and hikers. I am retired and Corinne is a holistic health practitioner, specialing in massage, energy work and homeopathy. Our most recent adventure was a two week trip to Turkey. Our biggest recent adventure was completing the 500 mile Camino de Santiago in Spain. We live in San Diego but spend every possible moment we can in Idyllwild.

Bob Greenamyer purchased this studio in 2014

Why Bob Greenamyer chose Idyllwild

We looked at several properties, but when I saw this one, I knew it was 'it'. It was the right size for our family and the studio was an added bonus. When I called Corinne from the view deck, I said, ' I think I found our future home!' And we had. We have had great fun fixing it up adding dual pane windows, a forced air heating unit, repainted deck, refurbished fireplace and much more. I have a lot of future projects in mind, but for now we are very happy on 'the hill'.

What makes this studio unique

We are only two hours away from 'Idy' so it's easy to jump in the car and take the beautiful drive up the hill. When I make the big turn after the Idyllwild town sign and I see Lily Rock, I let out a big sigh and feel like I'm home. The people in Idyllwild are very friendly. We've found each has a unique story to share. We're surrounded by artists, musicians and talented people of all kinds. We look forward to the day when we can become full time 'hill folk'.

Quiet, clean, and pleasant place in nice neighborhood above the town.

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice studio beneath the main house with a separate entrance, a suitable kitchenette, plenty of parking, and a covered patio. For guests there's also a pleasant deck surrounded by pines, and a grill we could have used, but did not. The owners, a retired elementary school principal and wholistic health practitioner, are friendly and well-organized. Walking sticks and umbrellas are provided for guests if needed. Walk-in closet. Cable. Shower, no bathtub, which was fine. Good Wi-Fi reception. The location was great for us. This place is about five or ten minutes uphill from the town by car, convenient, but just far enough away to not hear the hub-bub. The owners can make good recommendations about restaurants, events, and local hiking trails. This is about a fifteen minute drive from the Idyllwild Arts Center, which was what brought us here this summer. In the future, we'll be back here just to enjoy this peaceful little place to stay, and the whole Idyllwild vibe.

Perfect quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

Bob's lovely, fully equipped garden studio has a huge deck and a fenced acre of cedars and pines for a back yard. Located on the north side of town by about 3 miles (all uphill), you're 1/4 mi from the Ernie Maxwell trailhead, where we saw a Bobcat(!) among other critters. Manzanita was in full bloom everywhere. We missed the lilacs by about 3 weeks, but they positively dot every landscape--have to come back next Spring a little earlier. With the full kitchen we had all the comforts of home and only went to town to take the Nature Center hike and hit up the fancy new brewpub. Casa de los Cedros is a keeper for sure!

Owner's Response: Hi Geri, Thank you for your kind review. We enjoyed hosting you and hope you’ll join us again soon. One correction; we are only about 1.2 miles away from town. It may feel like three, but it’s actually much shorter and it’s downhill to town but uphill on the return! Thanks again for joining us this past weekend. Happy travels! Bob

Beautiful modern and comfortable studio

  • 5 of 5

The place is modern clean and very comfortable. I and my wife really enjoyed our stay there. It has everything one needs to be cozy without being cluttered or redundant. This studio made our Idyllwild town visit very pleasant! It is located on a beautiful quiet street with a forest in the backyard and yet is only a 5 min drive to the town.

A few side comments just for additional info but not to take away from the comfort and our high rating of this place:

- Kitchen is fully stocked and is designed to be very comfortable and modern. It could use lids for the pans, but in a pinch an improvised lid can be also made from aluminum foil!

- I love the intelligently arranged furniture in the place. There are no ideal desks there if one wants to catch up with some work in late evenings or early mornings. But the dresser or side stand can be used in a pinch, though not as ideal. Though this can only by noticed by workaholics like us.

- Bedding is very comfortable and make resting a pleasure. Though the bed was just softer than my back likes. I may just be too tall or too heavy for the bed though, plus I prefer fairly firm beds. Likely not an issue for others.

Overall the place is just great! Also the owners are Very nice and really gave us some tips on how to enjoy our stay. It really made the experience even better. Thank you guys!!

The studio was fully stocked with kitchenware, warm blankets, games and Netflix! Making breakfast and watching the well fed squirrels through the kitchen window offered us lots of comfort and tranquility. Highly recommended!
