Property type house

About the property

4BR 3BA Old Family Creek Home

Escape the fast-paced demands of life and find tranquility amid the breathtaking views and salty air this water-front, peaceful creek home offers. Built in the 1950s and having survived Hurricane Hugo and Hazel, Tranquility embodies the ‘creek house’ feel with the view and history to accompany it.

For sixty plus years, generations of our family have built memories from this home playing in the pluff mud, water-skiing, shrimping, and fishing the inlet waters. Gathering under the moonlight on the dock to tell inlet ghost stories of the Gray Man and Alice Flagg has been a favorite past time as the original home of Alice, “The Hermitage,” was just across the water. Tranquility will feed that inner nostalgia for a simpler, beautiful way of life.

Located in the heart of Murrells Inlet on deep water (dredged 05/2017), the covered dock opens to a large floating dock with a ladder for swimming and boat cleats for tie-up. The house features central H/VAC, cable TV, wireless internet, living room/dining room combination, washer/dryer, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, outdoor Walton Style Dining Table, Grill, Hammock and enclosed outdoor shower. Within the upstairs are three bedrooms. The king bedroom has its own full bathroom and faces creek-side. The two bedrooms with two double beds each are connected by a bathroom. A screened in porch is both on the creek side of the house and the parking side. One large screened in porch includes two dining tables off of the kitchen. The other screened-in porch has comfortable sitting for enjoying a sunrise, reading a book, or drinking your morning coffee. Off of the carport downstairs is a secluded bedroom with a queen bed and full bathroom. A laundry room with a washer, dryer and overflow refrigerator is also off of the carport. Room for parking is plentiful with the ability to fit more than a dozen cars. This house is ideal for enjoying the activities, serenity, view, salty breeze, and much more that Murrells Inlet offers!

Bedding consists of 1 King, 1 queen, 4 Double beds, 1 sleeper Sofa in Living Room

Bathrooms*: 3 full bathrooms. 2 with bath/shower combination and 1 with shower only. *Outdoor shower off of carport.

Close to Huntington Beach State Park (pass available for renters use), Brookgreen Gardens, Garden City beach, & North Litchfield Beach. House is on the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway which provides miles of paved continuous pathway. The house is walking distance to shops, the inlet’s best seafood restaurants, and less than a quarter mile from the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk and a block away from Sunnyside Plantation House a popular wedding venue.

The house is located about a quarter mile from the public boat landing, and provides easy access to the ocean.

Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time staying at Tranquility and would stay here again!

Plenty of chairs for dining space outside and was just the right amount of space inside for relaxing. We had 5 adults and 1 child (2 year old) stay at the house. The sandbox was a nice plus for the 2 year old. Plenty of pool noodles for everyone to use while swimming off the dock. When we were wanting beachtime, we went to public access area in Surfside one day but then went to Huntington Beach State Park all other days. Since it was August, the state park was pretty quiet which was wonderful and had great tidal pools.

It's hard to think of any cons here, because I wouldn't change anything about our stay. The kitchen is a bit tight and some might describe the interior as dated but we thought it added to character of the charming creek front home and also, we weren't spending all that much time inside the house anyway. Inside dining space is limited, but we ate outside most nights on the screened in porch.

We had great weather in mid-August and enjoyed living by the high tide and low tide schedule and trying crabbing. The house is on a quiet street but we could faintly hear the music from the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk at night on the weekend which we didn't mind at all! In fact, we loved that part when sitting out on the dock at night and no one was ever disturbed by the music once inside the house. Speaking of the Marshwalk, this was a very short walk (5-10min max) to the first restaurant on the northend of the Marshwalk which was perfect if we wanted to eat lunch or dinner out. We also walked up to Prosser's BBQ for their breakfast buffet a couple of mornings.

Owners were super helpful when needed for planning, but we didn't have anything go wrong while we were there. They were quick to respond leading up to the vacation and I am sure they would do the same if anything had gone wrong during our stay.

Thanks for a wonderful place to stay during our vacation!!

Great place to stay with a big Family we had a great time !

  • 5 of 5

Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay with a big family. King bed, four full beds, and a full roll out couch upstairs. Also a queen bed in a separate mini separate apartment downstairs. Was pleasantly surprised to find two swings and a sandbox for our kids to play in. A fire pit outside if you chose to use it. Two hammocks an almost new gas grill. Tons of cookware and dishes and a crockpot as well. My only two negatives if you could call them that is that the two rooms that had the four full beds had no TVs which was not really a problem as people were only in there when they were ready for bed. The other would be that there was no living access to a bathroom both upstairs bathrooms were inside or accessed from the bedrooms. This also was not a problem but it means that at least one bedroom needed to be open at all times so that the people sleeping on the pull out couch had access to a bathroom. The queen bedroom downstairs has its own bathroom and shower. Large patio area downstairs completely covered with tables. Two hammocks and the dock was great we used that a lot. Two screened in porches one with rocking chairs and the other with dining tables. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Unless you expect a five star resort you should be very satisfied with this place. Would not hesitate to return. Was exactly what we needed for a big family getaway. Very close to Huntington Beach state resort park and comes with one free annual pass. We spent all our beech time there and also swam a lot off the dock with the swim ladder just make sure to stay in deep water barnacles and shells will cut you if you try to swim toward shore. You can plainly see them when the tide is out. Found a nest of fire ants during our stay that could have been a problem but two days in a pest control agent showed up and we pointed out the nest and he took care of it. Neighbors were very friendly. Only nose was a restaurant/ bar up the street that you could hear outside at night but was far enough away to not be a problem. Probably forgetting things but again great place.

Tranquility was perfect for our family.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was so homey and comfortable! We loved eating together on the porch, catching crabs and fish on the dock, and the convenience of being just minutes from everything! The pass to Huntington Beach was an extra nice perk. We will certainly be back!

Best Vavation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

Tranquility was the absolute perfect place for my family to enjoy two weeks on the beautiful Murrells Inlet waterfront. The house reminds me of a lovely vintage cottage equipped with everything you could possibly need on vacation. The view is simply unbeatable. We spent our afternoons fishing and crabbing off of the dock and enjoying the cool breezes and beautiful sunsets. The location couldn’t be more perfect. All of MI’s best restaurants are within walking distance and offer some of the best seafood on the Grand Strand. I couldn’t be more pleased with our stay, and we are already looking forward to our stay next year! Thank you, Jed, for creating such a “tranquil” place to vacation. You nailed it!

Tranquility...says it all.

  • 5 of 5

Excellent antique waterfront home. The pics of home and property do not show the true beauty of this hidden treasure. Jed was a great host. My husband, myself and our two fur babies were fortunate to find this last minute as a stopping point on our travels to/from FL and really enjoyed every minute. Just so happened to be bike week, had we known, we would have booked longer.

Will definitely be back again. Ken & Lynn
