Our home’s amenities include a massive game room with a ping-pong table, air hockey table, foosball table, video games, couches, bean bag chairs and flat screen TV. Aside from the massive kitchen that can hold 50 people by itself, we have a huge family room with a wood-burning fireplace and piano, dining room with a butler’s pantry, a whole-house sound system, whole-house vacuum system, intercom system, two gas burning fireplaces in the Master bedroom and kitchen, a walk-in pantry, spacious mud porch, a bedroom size laundry room, a backyard porch that faces the sun with a large BBQ, a playground area, and if I keep going I will rethink renting our house and move back in, so I’ll stop now.

About Jim & Kim

We discovered Port Angeles while vacationing here in 2003. Within a year, God opened up the opportunity for us to move here and the rest, as they say is history.

We built our home in 2006 for our family and our 4 children. This home is a tremendous blessing that we have been able to share with friends and family. As our children grow and head off to college, we've decided to share our large home with others since we have the ability to live in other locations. We are keeping our retreat as a vacation rental for now and in the future, as a retirement home for our family.

Jim & Kim purchased this estate in 2006

Why Jim & Kim chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

We really fell in love with the large parcel of land and the privacy of the park-like grounds. Being surrounded by large evergreen trees and the daily visits from God's creatures really confirmed building our home here.

What makes this estate unique

Looking for an outdoor wedding venue? A place to gather for a family reunion? How about a vacation destination to drop your bags and tour the Olympics? A gathering point for your group or club? We have the location and setting to handle whatever your lodging and/or wedding needs may be.

We have cell phone service and wireless internet for people to stay connected with the world beyond the Lodge. We exude a positive and rejuvenating atmosphere both inside and outside our home.

Our backyard faces south bringing lots of sun into our large and private backyard for entertaining and relaxing, while being protected from the north facing wind.

Great weekend in a beautiful, spacious house

  • 5 of 5

Had several friends visiting from out of town for my 40th birthday party. This home was ideal for a comfortable stay and a great celebration. The bedrooms are all decently sized and very comfortable. The master bedroom is huge! Several bathrooms to ensure guests aren't contending.

Of course the kitchen is a convergence point for any vacation, and this kitchen is ideal for hosting large meals. There's 2 of everything! Lots of space for storage, prep, and serving. The kitchen is well appointed with nice appliances and cookware. The grill is large enough to cook for a big group as well.

The property itself is beautiful and open. You really feel as if you are in a private retreat. Deer are your constant companions.

The only suggestion is to bring eye masks for in the morning. Especially in the master bedroom, the large windows don't include blinds. Given the beautiful scenery I can understand the thought process, but it does mean that in a Seattle summer, there is a lot of light in the room at 5AM.

The location is a good launching point for Olympic Penninsula adventures.

Large, Well Equipped

  • 4 of 5

Nice to have so much space and facilities for our large family (10 adults). Kitchen was well-equipped with two ovens and two dishwashers as well as a large stove top. Additional refrigerator and freezer space was available. Owner responded to our comments and problems. Enjoyed our stay.

September Wedding

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful Home! My husband and I chose to rent this home for our wedding weekend. We were looking for something cozy and warm so we could host our immediate family and our wedding party. The rooms are large and spacious allowing us to comfortably accommodate a party of 16. The house is so large, it didn’t feel like we were piled on top of each other. We arrived on Thursday and this gave us the full day on Friday to setup, decorate and play, before the craziness of the wedding started on Saturday.

Jim allowed us to come out several months before the event to walk around and gave us some tips on how others had done their events in the past. He was very responsive to any questions that came up before the wedding.

We had about 80 guests at the wedding. The kitchen has two large ovens and a warmer. In the pantry is plenty of storage, a full size refrigerator and a full size freezer. We had room to prepare dinner for all of our guests. We did rent some additional warmers and brought 2 additional bbqs, because our menu included prime rib and salmon.

On the 10 acres, there are several locations to have a ceremony as well as the reception. We chose one of the ponds as our ceremony location. It was perfect! The reception was in the back. I put guest table and chairs in the gravel which allowed our guests to socialize on the patio. We set up lawn games, cornhole, ladder golf and badminton for those who are not so into dancing…. Basically, what I’m getting at is there is plenty of room for activities!

For events like a wedding, Jim hires a parking attendant (you pay, but he hires them), which definitely worked for us! They directed traffic and parking. Also, because we chose to have the event in the front of the house, the parking attendant stopped cars from coming in once the ceremony started. They would have to park and walk in so as not to distract the guests, photographer and of course the wedding party! Also, a family member will be on site to monitor the event. Jim’s daughter, Noelle, was there the day of our event and she was very sweet! It is to ensure their home is being respected and have an extra set of eyes on things. Make sure your guests know not to wear their shoes inside the home, or they will hear about it! We tried to keep our guests outside as much as possible with the exception of using the restroom.

We loved it! We have already discussed the possibility of using it again for a family reunion! Will share some pictures soon.

Great stay overall

  • 5 of 5

House was fantastic. The game room was a fun addition that we somehow missed in the original description. Everything in the house worked well. It was spotless on arrival. We had zero complaints and enjoyed our stay there. (8 people in total).

Wonderful Second Visit

  • 5 of 5

This has to be one of the best vacation homes for family groups that exists anywhere. The way that Jim and Kim keep the property in perfect condition is amazing. The deer herds that show up in the morning and evening were delightful. We knew from our stay last year that we wanted to come back for a special family time together and were just as pleased as we were last time. You will thank yourself if you choose this lovely home for your family or large group events.

Spacious, generously appointed home, perfect for large family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

More than just a house--this is truly a warm and welcoming home, with everything one can possibly need for a large family get-together in the sublime setting of the Olympic Peninsula. The location is perfect for day trips of all sorts: hiking at Hurricane Ridge, beachcombing at Dungeness Spit, whale watching out of Port Angeles, and more. The home itself is situated on a beautiful, large lot with gorgeous views, visiting deer, and a terrific playground for the kids. Inside is perhaps best of all: generous bedrooms with great big beds, a few with in-suite bathrooms, and a spacious shared bathroom upstairs. Loads of fluffy towels, extra air beds if needed...basically, everything has been thought of and provided. The kitchen is huge, well laid out, and perfectly appointed with everything you need to cook up great meals for a crowd. The game room is unbelievable--ping pong, air hockey, foosball and more--everything is in mint condition. Jim is a great host, very gracious and helpful. This place is one in a million!
