Our lovely home is nestled in the middle of 40 acres with glorious meadows, majestic redwoods, amazing hike and bike trails, and more. We are only minutes from the town of Mendocino, offering the best of both worlds.
This comfortable country home was originally built on the property in 1921 and has been lovingly restored by us over the past few years. The light and sun filled house is surrounded by acres of meadows and forest lands. There are views from every window, as you are completely surrounded by natures majestic offerings. World class hiking and biking trails surround the property.
The beds and bedding are all new and highest quality. There is a river rock fireplace for ambiance, and the house is comfortably heated with a propane heater. We have wood floors throughout the house with throw rugs for added comfort. A bathtub for soaking, and a tiled shower are both available in the main bathroom along with the toilet and vanity. There is an outbuilding that hosts a second bathroom. A glass house lit by a sparkling chandelier is a sweet place to enjoy a favorite beverage, some quiet time and the natural surrounds. A queen size bed in the private bedroom sleeps two, a small second room holds a single twin bed, and a fold out couch in the main room could hold two more. The tent cabin is a wonderful place to sleep up to 2 more people. A queen sized bed with a heated mattress pad, real windows and doors, plush rugs, a lounge chair and side tables with electric lights make this a great annex bedroom, just 30 paces from the main house.
The privacy of the house is yours to enjoy. The complete kitchen is fully supplied with all the cookware, appliances and dishware that you will need to prepare a fine meal using the new appliances including a propane stove, dishwasher, and full size fridge.
Interaction with Guests:
We are happy to help you get settled and give you any information about our place and the general area that you request. We are on the other side of the 40 acres, and are available if you need us, but will plan on leaving you to enjoy your privacy.
Jackson State Forest surrounds us, and is a terrific place to hike, bike, and enjoy nature. Big River is a few short miles away from us, and is a perfect place to spend a day either at the beach or at the river. Kayaks, canoes and bicycles may be rented from Catch a Canoe, downtown. There is the option to go sea kayaking too.
Mendocino is full of art galleries, fine restaurants, shopping and parks. Anderson Valley with its world class wine tasting is only one hour away. The Skunk Train and Botanical Gardens, as well as the Starr Center aquatic park in Fort Bragg are enjoyable ways to spend a day.
Having a car is important here, though there certainly are people who do what they need by bicycle.
Other Things to Note:
You will enjoy your time here without a strong connection to media and electronics. There is only spotty cell service at this property, and there is no television or internet access in the house. If you want to watch movies, you could bring your lap top or other device. A Bose stereo for playing your music through your i-pod or phone is available. Board games, books and lawn games are supplied. We hope you'll embrace this special opportunity to relax around a fire and laugh + sing + play together.
Please treat our house with respect and care.
If you are looking for a place to host a gathering, we are willing to discuss possibilities.
Very well behaved dogs may be considered, with an additional pet fee.
This is a non smoking house.
