About Holly Porter
Former teacher who quit her job to restore her great-grandfather's home and turn it into a B&B. North Carolina native, previously taught in Charlotte, NC and Phoenix, AZ.
Why Holly Porter chose Traphill
The Holbrook House has been in my family since it was built in 1913. The house was always filled with guests and family from near and far. I'm am so happy to bring life back to it after a major restoration.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Filled with historical details, heart pine floors throughout and hand carved mantels. The Holbrook House is part of the North Carolina Historical Register under the Traphill Historic District.

A wonderful quiet retreat!
Holly is a lovely hostess..very warm and welcoming. Our room was very cozy and we had a great night sleep in the king size bed. The house has lots of character and we felt like we had gone back in time to a quieter age. A very enjoyable stay indeed!
Beauty, history and charm with Holly
A lovely home with history and anyiques. We slept comfortably and it was so quiet even though we were close to a traveled road.
The breakfast was delish and so colorful. Peach and orange juice, fruit medly, coffee, teas, and topped with a fritata. All fresh and tasty. I highly recommend Holly ' s lovely home with all its history and charm.
Words are inadequate to describe the joy we experienced staying at the Holbrook House. Firstly, the home is gorgeous. It's got all its original flavor on the outside with beautiful finishes on the inside. You walk into the kitchen which beckons like a lighthouse in a late evening fog. Striding through that room, you're led by the enchantment which is the dining room. This room sparkled with brand new paint and stain, without the noxious fumes that generally accompany such work. Going into the bedroom, you are met with a sleepy surrounding the likes of which I've rarely ever experienced. The bed greets you like the welcoming arms of your paramour and you sink into it comfortably and luxuriously, never wanting to leave your new lover. Once you enter into the bathroom, you instantly wish to strip naked and blend into the bubble bath you have drawn for yourself. You ask yourself, "why am I so blessed to be here in this place and at this time?"
While the setting of the home is mighty fine, the host is truly the reason for such unadulterated joy. Holly greeted us before we were out of the car, showing her attentiveness to her guests. Beyond affable, Holly's spirit is the type where one quickly develops a rich kinship. The three of us were laughing before we were even in the home. She's one outdoorsy, music-loving, positive individual. Anything we needed - she was able to provide. Her breakfast, an unexpected bonus, had my insides moaning with pleasure. The breakfast spread had us believing we were royalty from a distant land. Her concoctions - egg cups, fresh juice, bacon, croissants, and muffins - spoke not only to her capacity as a cook but to her heart as a host. Holly is a shining gem, and we hope that she continues to gleam with the brilliance of a thousand suns for all her guests, as she did for us that special night.
Stay at the Holbrook House. Enjoy the rest your soul will experience when you do. We will again, and we hope soon.
Wife and I enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Holbrook house, we had a great rustic room with ample space, homemade breakfast was awesome and upon arrival Holly provided complimentary wine and cheese for us --- she is such a gracious host! Our room had an updated bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and the bed was very comfortable. The only negative, there was no shower stall in our room and that was my reason for the 4 stars. I believe a shower will be added in the near future, as I could see the water lines are being prepped for a shower addition for the room. Also, we had an awesome time playing golf at Stone Mountain Golf Club which Holly recommended, the course was very affordable and had great scenic views....If you are going to be in the Stone Mountain Park area, the Holbrook house is a great place to stay, Thanks again Holly for your hospitality...
The room descriptions are very clear... so there is no surprise when guests book the room that has a Jacuzzi tub only. My other guest room has a shower only. If a bathroom with a shower is what they desired.. I wish my guests had booked that room instead of rating me as 4 stars over the room design.........and no... there are not any water lines in the bathroom to add an additional shower head... file that under fake news. It will remain a jacuzzi tub room only... as this is my most requested guest room.
I also wish my guests had least mentioned the fact they were not happy with the jacuzzi tub only room as this is the first time I am hearing about it . I heard nothing but good things and how they enjoyed their stay.
