About the property

One bdrm in historic home w/ great porches and beautiful furniture.

Located in the Historic Cummings-Taylor house on a cobblestone downtown street, this cozy 1 bedroom/1 bath condo has original wood floors, beautiful furnishings and fantastic outdoor spaces. Although the condo is small, it is elegantly appointed and has two porches - a covered porch off the living room and an open porch off the bright kitchen.

The home was built in 1889 and has been converted into three units with this property occupying the third (top) floor of the house. There is a full kitchen and nice dining area. The bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed and a pull out couch so the condo sleeps four. There is also a washer and dryer.

The home is located in historic downtown Wilmington but is far enough from the lively downtown 'scene' to ensure you enjoy being in this great city while still being able to relax. Walk four blocks to catch the FREE downtown trolley that will take you anywhere in the historic area you would like to visit. The trolley runs every 20 minutes. Downtown Wilmington has so much to offer - great shopping, delicious restaurants, lively nightlife, historic homes and buildings, horse drawn carriage tours, and so much more. There are fantastic beaches within a 20 minute drive from the house.

Make this home your home away from home while you explore this great city!

About Michelle

Our family lives in Charleston, SC. We love to travel and enjoy getting away to Wilmington. I grew up in the South and my husband grew up in the Northeast but came south as soon as he could. I graduated from Clemson University and he graduated from Norwich University in Vermont. We have a ten year old daughter and an eleven year old yellow lab.

Michelle purchased this condo in 2006

Why Michelle chose Wilmington

We fell in love with this home as soon as we saw it even though we had told ourselves we would never buy an historic home. For the first few years we owned it the home was rented to mostly students at nearby UNCW but we recently decided to completely renovate the house and once we saw the beautiful results we decided it would be a great homebase for people visiting the area.

What makes this condo unique

This home has so much charm and is in a great location close to everything downtown and an easy drive to some of the best beaches in North Carolina.

LOCATION LOCATION!! This apt located in the historic district offers easy walk to downtown, close proximity to free trolley and is on the public bus line. Comfortable, cozy, the apartment offers everything needed for a wonderful stay!! Enjoy sunrise and or sunset from the porch and the quiet neighborhood! It is clear that the owner enjoys the home and we all benefit from her gift of sharing! We will most definitely return.

Charm in the treetops

  • 4 of 5

Great little top story flat near everything downtown! Michelle decorated the place beautifully and it really has almost everything you could need. She was a great hostess as well, being very prompt in her replies to inquiries. The side porches were our favorite part about this apartment; you literally felt like you were in a treehouse! Suggestion- pullout couch in living room for any additional space needed would be better than the one in bedroom (or in addition to), and bed in bedroom is comfortable but quite creaky and woke us whenever we rolled over/changed positions while sleeping. It was nice and cool up on the top floor though, so air conditioning unit worked beautifully. Great spot to stay and would recommend to others!

Charming Apartment

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful and charming apartment. Parking was easy and access to the apartment was simple, both interior and exterior entrances. Everything about our stay was easy. The only complaint I have is that some of the living room furniture did have some unidentifiable spots. Overall, highly recommend.
