Overview

About the property

One bdrm in historic home w/ great porches and beautiful furniture.

Located in the Historic Cummings-Taylor house on a cobblestone downtown street, this cozy 1 bedroom/1 bath condo has original wood floors, beautiful furnishings and fantastic outdoor spaces. Although the condo is small, it is elegantly appointed and has two porches - a covered porch off the living room and an open porch off the bright kitchen.

The home was built in 1889 and has been converted into three units with this property occupying the third (top) floor of the house. There is a full kitchen and nice dining area. The bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed and a pull out couch so the condo sleeps four. There is also a washer and dryer.

The home is located in historic downtown Wilmington but is far enough from the lively downtown 'scene' to ensure you enjoy being in this great city while still being able to relax. Walk four blocks to catch the FREE downtown trolley that will take you anywhere in the historic area you would like to visit. The trolley runs every 20 minutes. Downtown Wilmington has so much to offer - great shopping, delicious restaurants, lively nightlife, historic homes and buildings, horse drawn carriage tours, and so much more. There are fantastic beaches within a 20 minute drive from the house.

Make this home your home away from home while you explore this great city!

About Michelle

Our family lives in Charleston, SC. We love to travel and enjoy getting away to Wilmington. I grew up in the South and my husband grew up in the Northeast but came south as soon as he could. I graduated from Clemson University and he graduated from Norwich University in Vermont. We have a ten year old daughter and an eleven year old yellow lab.

Michelle purchased this condo in 2006

Why Michelle chose Wilmington

We fell in love with this home as soon as we saw it even though we had told ourselves we would never buy an historic home. For the first few years we owned it the home was rented to mostly students at nearby UNCW but we recently decided to completely renovate the house and once we saw the beautiful results we decided it would be a great homebase for people visiting the area.

What makes this condo unique

This home has so much charm and is in a great location close to everything downtown and an easy drive to some of the best beaches in North Carolina.

Charming and Cozy

  • 4 of 5

We had a great experience in this little apartment. It has a lot of stairs to get up to the 3rd floor but it's worth the climb. It has a covered deck off the living room that we used every day. It's about six blocks to the corner of market and front Street so we walked down town several times.

The care taker was very friendly as well.

It would be nice to see a recycling bin next to the garbage in the house but other than that everything that you need to make it a week or two is there.

Over all it's a great place!

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is charming, with everything a guest could want or need. Morning tea out on the balcony, listening to the birds in the towering magnolia, is a memory I'll cherish in Michigan winter. The location is perfect--seemingly every house is a gem, with dining and shopping all walking distance.

Cozy, private and cute!

  • 4 of 5

This unit is represented well as pictured. Plenty of space for two, clean, two porches for outdoor relaxation. It was just what we needed for a four night stay for a wedding. About four blocks from downtown, in a quiet neighborhood. Thoughtfully outfitted, although we didn't cook while we were visiting. I would definitely return.

Great downtown apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for our weekend stay in downtown for a wedding. The house is charming, street parking was easy, walking to downtown restaurants and bars is easy, and the neighborhood is so fun to explore. Really appreciated that linens and basics like soap are included. Apartment was clean and well- maintained. Enjoyed the two porches and the surprise stained glass window in the bedroom closet. Would definitely book here again!

Sweet cozy home, amazing owners!

  • 5 of 5

This home is so charming and in a perfect location. We love walking and it's just a quick stroll downtown. It was comfortable, clean and stocked with everything we needed.

We had planned a weekend getaway while my parents watched our two young boys and our trip was cut short when they called and said our youngest was sick. I texted Michelle to let her know we had left early and without even asking her she had refunded my deposit and one nights stay since we left early. This was so kind and unexpected. We can't wait to return to finish our trip!
