4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom beach front cottage ideal for families.
Our Lake Michigan cottage is located on beautiful Cathead Bay, 8 miles north of historic Northport, MI and just south of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse on the Leelanau peninsula. Situated on a white, sugar sand beach that is studded with Petoskey stones with breathtaking views, it is the ideal place to spend your vacation. The Bay is perfect for swimming as the lake bottom is sandy and the bay is shallow. Or bring your kayak and paddle board for a relaxing cruise. For those windy days, bring your Catamaran and go for a sail or go bodyboarding for a more exhilarating adventure. Opportunities abound for those who like to hike as the beach is surrounded to the north, east, and south by state parks with hiking trails. Nearby, the towns of Northport, Leland, Omena, and Sutton’s Bay offer art galleries, museums, shopping and charming restaurants.
The cottage offers four bedrooms, each with a large closet, dresser, bed(s), pillows, blanket and comforter. There is a full bathroom on both floors. The main floor has an open concept kitchen, dining area, and living room with incredible views of Lake Michigan. There is a wood-burning fireplace for those occasional chilly evenings. On the lower level, there is a second family room that is perfect for playing games, putting together puzzles or watching a movie on the 42-inch flat screen TV with a Blu-ray/DVD player. We have provided an assortment of games, puzzles, books and movies that will appeal to all ages. The lower level family room also has a pull out sofa that sleeps 2.
Outdoors, we offer a deck with dining table, a charcoal grill, a picnic table, lawn chairs, a fire pit with rustic seating, and picture perfect sunsets.

Why Tim and Becky Salach, Pam and Hugh Sanchez chose Leelanau
We have vacationed at this property for more than 10 years and were thrilled when we had the opportunity to purchase it. Some of the returning renters have rented this cottage for 25 years. It is a special place that creates wonderful memories. We couldn't help but fall in love with it after our first visit.
What makes this House unique
This cottage is situated on Lake Michigan, the views are amazing, the beach is private. The water stays shallow for quite a ways, which makes it nice for small children. Some days the Lake is incredibly calm which makes for great fun playing catch or tag in the water. Other days, there are waves which are so fun to jump in. Just a short walk from the cottage's beach is a state beach that often has Petosky stones scattered on its shores. This is the perfect place to enjoy time with family and friends.

The house was beautiful and just perfect for what we wanted. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Even though the weather was a bit cool when we visited, we still had a fantastic time. We picked wild blackberries down the road, climbed the dunes, had a bon fire at night, and enjoyed sitting by the water and dipping our toes in a bit. There really wasn't a need to even leave...although we did visit the lighthouse (which is within walking distance) and Northport. Everything we wanted was right there. We came home relaxed. Will definitely come again and would highly recommend!
We had a fantastic stay at Clipper Cove!
The house was just as promised, clean, a very well-stocked kitchen and fantastic beach and views. The only thing missing was a washer/dryer but we were able to plan around that. Couldn't recommend it enough!
Absolutely loved Clipper Cove and will be back next year!
The place was perfect! Will be back next year...we loved it😎
Love Up North
We had a wonderful time at Clipper Cove Cottage on beautiful Cathead Bay. We could smell the newness when we walked in the door. We headed up stairs and were greeted by an outstanding view of the lake through the floor to ceiling glass doors. It was bright and light. We were in awe of the new kitchen. It’s open and bright and has lots of counter space and cabinets. We wanted to hang out there all the time. We loved standing at the sink and looking out the expansive windows enjoying the view. We can tell you have put a lot of work into updating. Great job!
We hung out on the deck a lot, reading, watching the lake and enjoying the sunsets. We enjoyed fires outside and inside. I climbed the dunes behind the house a couple of times, what a great workout. We walked the beach in both directions as far as we could, found lots of drift wood and some Petoskey stones. We did the hike at the Lighthouse West Nature Area as well as walking in the state park. Northport is just right, quaint with good restaurants and a micro brewery. We checked out local wineries and stopped by roadside stands for local produce and flowers. We decided to try foods we don’t find at home like whitefish pate, smelts and broasted chicken and we enjoyed them all. When we did cook at “home” we had all the equipment and utensils we needed and more. We even barbequed one night.
Becky and Pam, the owners, are very friendly and helpful. They love the cottage and their enthusiasm is catching. They are very knowledgeable about the area and are a good resource.
We will treasure our time together in a beautiful area in a beautiful home on a very beautiful lake. Thank you for the memories.
