we rented this house for the month of March this year and it really ticked off all of the boxes. It is spacious, well equipped and very private. The beach is sandy and you can walk out for ages on a sandy bottom with no ocean undertows. The place is perfect for couples or family and Bob and Cristy are prompt in dealing with issues. There were no issues to speak of, but when the coffee maker died, it was replaced before the next morning. The whole area is safe and comfortable to be in. The locals are friendly and welcoming. Lots of good restaurants. This is the real deal.

Relaxing Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Santorini for a week at the end of May / beginning of June 2017 and had a wonderful time! We were there with our two kids (ages 7 and 4) and they had a blast in the pool and at the beach. The house was perfect - plenty big, with everything that you would need at a beach house for the week. The nearby restaurants were easy to find with great food, and the locals very friendly. We drove into Progresso a few times to go to the larger grocery stores, and one day we went out to X'Cambo to see the Mayan ruins (we were the only people there, so if you're looking for a truly off the beaten path experience, X'Cambo was really cool), but mostly we relaxed at the house with the kids. Bob and Christy were also wonderful hosts and very accommodating and flexible with checking in and out, providing details about the house and helping us get settled. Having the windows open during the day was perfect for letting in the ocean breeze and keeping the house relatively cool, and the A/C units in each bedroom were surprisingly very efficient and cooled the bedrooms down quickly at night. We highly recommend Casa Santorini for your stay in this part of Mexico.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My husband I just returned from a wonderful week's stay at Casa Santorini. The house was very well maintained, spacious and the King bed was very comfortable. We didn't sleep in the other beds. The ocean breeze was more than sufficient to keep the house cool. We didn't need any air conditioning at all! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed for cooking and creating frozen tropical concoctions in the powerful blender. The swimming pool and surrounding area was perfect with palm trees and beautiful blooming plants. Very private, no noise from neighbors and very safe. Bob and Christi were the perfect hosts to ensure we had everything we needed and provided recommendations of local restaurants and customs, and even gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate our wedding anniversary. You definitely need a car, because nothing is within walking distance. If you are looking for a Spring break type atmosphere and night life, you need to go to Cancun. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing get away without crowds or souvenir shops, I would definitely recommend staying at Casa Santorini.

We couldn't get enough... So we decided to stay forever!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came here to look at the area to possibly find a permanent vacation home. We've been to resorts in the Rivera Mia area several times and had a dream of owning a beach home some day. The home we rented from Bob and Christy was a perfect way for us to understand if we would like the area and if a beach home was something we would like long term. If you have never been to Mexico, this area of Chelem is probably not the place to go. The area of Chelem is "old Mexico". It is not a resort area and you will not find nice resorts and upscale restaurants. Here, you will find pleasant, hard working Mexicans and a bunch of retired American and Canadian expats who have found the perfect place to peacefully relax and enjoy life inexpensively. Being from the Dallas area and being accustomed to some of the finer things in life that Dallas can offer, I was afraid my wife wouldn't like the area and at first I don't think she did but once you spend a little time there you soon look beyond the dirt roads and old buildings and begin to see the beauty of everything this area has to offer. In short, My wife and I fell in love with the area and the people and decided to purchase a home in Chelem. A special thanks to Bob and Christy not only for this wonderful rental home that came with a bottle of wine but more importantly for helping us find our perfect, dream vacation home just a short distance down the beach.

Extremely relaxing

We had an excellent time here. Bob and Cristy were extremely cool. Get some pork tacos in the town square (Tortas y Tacos). Enjoy the ocean and the pool.

Highly recommend.

My wife and I an.d two friends spent 8 enjoyable days at this nicely updated home. The compound is finshed nicely and the pool offers a refreshing way to cool off. The home lived well for two couples.

Bob and Cristy were excellent hosts and did everything they said they would do. We would use them again to book a home.

The house served as a good location for a quiet retreat after a day of exploring but it was a 30 min drive back to Merida.

The location of the home is set off in a small set of homes many of which are deserted and in ill repaire . If the the surroundings are important to you this may not be a great choice because the beauty comes from the home itself.

The beach is not in good shape nor is the ocean so do not think you are going to walk out to a beautiful blue ocean with a superb beach. The area offers small very rustic stores so do your shopping before you arrive. The local restaurants are superb but NOT fancy in any way-- very basic!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, we always do our very best to serve our customers. Yes, this house is beautiful, and the pool is to dye for, as for the ocean, you arrived in the time of year that the seas were rough, this making the water not as calm and blue as it is in the Hot Seasons. Yes, the area, is not beautiful as it is in Port Morelos Mexico or Playa Del Carmen, but this is why the house is much more affordable then that part of Mexico. The restaurants are many, and if you love seafood, this is the place to be, of course, they are not fine dinning. And we thank you again for renting Casa Santorini and we hope you return. Bob & Cristy ps. We feel it should be 4 stars!!
