About the property

Comfortable open air ocean view home 200meters from Playa Largatillo

Rancho Largatillo is located between the beaches of playa negra and playa avellanas on a secluded locals beach called playa largatillo. The home is a 200 meters from the water and the beach at most times will be empty. The beach is great for low tide pools to sit in and the crescent shape part of the beach creates a sand/pebble bottom for easy swimming. This beach is also known to the locals for an outer reef surf break and incredible inshore fishing.

The Home is a 4 Bedroom 4 bathroom open air home with private path to a secluded locals beach Playa Largatillo. All 4 bedrooms are air conditioned. The Kitchen is great for the family cook, stainless steel counters and large six burner commercial gas range to prepare and enjoy freshly prepared meals. Enjoy the upper deck with screened in sitting area and outside(no screen) sun deck. The dining and living area downstairs are naturally cooled by the breeze from both on shore and offshore winds as well as having fans above all sitting areas. At the end of the path to the beach enjoy our sitting area right at the edge of the ocean front enjoy the sounds of crashing waves.

The master bedroom is set as a queen size bed but is possible to be separated into twins.

the two additional rooms upstairs are set up as twins.

The fourth room is also set up as twins.

The animals around the home include monkeys, green parrots, parakeets, iguanas.

There is fruiting trees around the property. Guests are welcome to enjoy them....if you can get to them before the animals!!

A great location! Quiet neighborhood, close to beach.

We had an excellent time staying at Kevan's house. It is a great house for a group of people wanting to share dinners and beach time. The kitchen is big and clean, the patio/dining area is comfortable with fans and a breeze, and there is a beautiful, secluded beach a short walk away. The bedrooms have air conditioners and the wifi worked well. The house is not for people looking for a fancy, all-inclusive resort, but wonderful for people looking for a rustic, quiet beach experience.

A little rustic but beautiful comfortable and clean

  • 4 of 5

Unique park like property behind the house leads to a gorgeous secluded beach. Lots of space and a bed for every body. Matresses are extra firm but the hammock was an option for me for two nights and worked fine. We really enjoyed the patios and pool table. Accommodations not luxurious but that's not what we were after. There's a great hangout spot about a mile from house calls Lola's. The road there will rattle your teeth in your head but became part of the ambiance of the whole experience. Rent a four wheel drive for sure! Kevan a really nice guy ; available and helpful. One of my very favorite vacations

Perfect beach house, great layout, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We went here for my mothers 60th birthday and had a great time. If you are looking for a private, quiet, beachfront experience, this is it. The house is great; it is rustic, spacious, and has great common areas. The ACs in each room were essential for the heat, as was the large outdoor living room that offered plenty of shade. It was windy when we were there which kept us cool and kept the bugs at bay for the most part. The location is off the beaten path but within a 10-30 minute drive to most activities / amenities. The roads are bumpy out there so make sure to have a 4x4 or a car with good clearance. We rarely saw Kevan but he was very helpful and answered our questions quickly. There were lots of iguanas, birds, and neighbors horses around the property. The beach was very private behind the property- it is a little rocky in places but there is a cove where you can swim. We were a little worried about talk of crocodiles but we did not see any. There are other more public beaches within a short drive- many are popular for surfing. Great place!

Rustic Luxury on the Gold Coast. Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We had three families (6 adults and 5 small children) stay at this house for a week in January. What a perfect choice! First of all, Kevan, the owner, lives on site in a separate small house by the road and is great. He's extremely reliable, takes incredible pride in his property and will do anything he can to make sure your stay is perfect. He hasn't owned the property for too long and has been fixing it up after years of neglect. So there are still details that need work (when we were there there were missing shower heads, water not very hot, dishwasher not working, etc) but it was just what we were looking for. Clean, rustic and comfortable, on the beach, far from the crowds and at a good price. And it sounds like he has some incredible future plans for the property so it will only get better over time.

We absolutely loved living in comfort but with the nature... the resident iguanas, hermit crabs passing by, geckos, parrots and monkeys all at your doorstep, or sometimes even closer! Just be careful leaving food out and close the kitchen when you step out... the local gang of bluejay-like birds are always looking for an easy snack. The beach was beautiful, just a two minute walk away and our kids loved exploring the tide pools at low tide. There are very few people on the beach all week, except for Sunday, but it's still certainly not crowded on Sundays either... you just might not find an available tree to set your beach chair up under : )

There are three bedrooms upstairs with air-conditioning. Two of them share one bathroom and one has it's own bathroom. The fourth bedroom is the bunk room and is completely separate from the rest, downstairs on the opposite side of the house, but it does have AC. This was an issue for us because we weren't comfortable putting our small children so far away. But instead we just made beds for them in the screened in porch by the bedrooms upstairs and they slept outside... and they LOVED it! There is also a full bathroom and half bath downstairs.

The AC is nice but as long as you're not in the sun, and have air moving, you really don't need it. I was worried we'd be hot in the open living area, but we never were.

In the end, we didn't want to leave and are making plans to go back. I can't recommend this place enough!!!
