About the Property
This remodled home is rustic with modern conveniences, for couples or family fun
Surrounded by redwoods, Douglas firs and maple trees, the house is perched 120 feet above the Russian River .
. The Russian river area also offers a multitude of activities including wine tasting at world--famous local wineries, shopping for antiques in Healdsburg and art in Sebastopol. The area is a haven for birdwatchers: so far we have seen or heard eagles, hawks, cranes, woodpeckers, and many species of songbirds. There are hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. Or you can canoe or drive to the Pacific and watch the sunset, and at the end of a rewarding day, find a delicious dinner in local restaurants along the river and in Guerneville. In fact, great restaurants are found in all directions.
The house is filled with art and an eclectic, elegant mix of antique and modern furniture. The great room on the upstairs floor includes a living/kitchen/dining area with a comfortable leather couch (a fold out for extra visitors) and easy chairs, TV, Wi-Fi, HBO and a stereo system. (We also have games -- chess, checkers, dominoes and scrabble.)
The updated fully equipped kitchen is newly remodeled with granite counter tops, new cabinets and fridge, and the latest stainless steel appliances, including microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and blender.
The master bedroom, also upstairs, has plenty of closet space, a Cal King bed and an en suite bath with a shower. Like the great room and the dining area, its sliding glass doors open onto the main deck. The comfy rocking chair and the outdoor dining table and chairs for six, create a delightful indoor/outdoor living experience with views of the forest and the river below.
On the carpeted downstairs level, are two knotty-pine paneled bedrooms with queen beds, ample closet space, access to an updated bathroom down the hall, shelves of books, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer, an iron and an ironing board. The first bedroom downstairs leads down to a side deck where there is a gas grill for outdoor cooking. Both rooms have lovely views of the forest. Guests have told us how delightful it is to wake up surrounded by green.
There is parking for two compact cars on the road above the house .

About the owner: Michael and Frances are a semi-retired professional couple in San Francisco, with kids and grandkids in the East Bay. We love to hike, hang out at the beach, enjoy the river, explore the coastline, and relax. We enjoy literature, the arts, music, and love to spend time here in the winter when it is green and quiet. In the summer, we blend being social with SHP residents, visiting with our families and friends. and enjoy the outdoors, canoeing, swimming, and hiking.
Why the Owner Chose Summerhome Park, CA, USA:
We fell in love with the view of the river from the deck, and being from foggy San Francisco, we LOVE the summer warmth. We were fortunate to find a house in Summer Home Park, a hundred year old housing association, safe and secluded at the end of the county road on the sunny side of the river. Among the many charms of the association are friendly neighbors. We have also come to love the romance and solitude in the fall and winter and even the wild rainstorms this year.
