About the property

The Pura Vida is a luxurious newly constructed lake house w/ Property Manager

The Pura Vida is a luxurious, newly constructed, 4 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom waterfront lake house on the PUBLIC side of Lake Anna.

***The house has a maximum capacity of 11 people, including children, at all times in the house and the property due to the small size of the septic system. Large parties/events are not permitted, only small "get-togethers." We also have a minimum age requirement of 25 of, at least, one or more adults.***

The house and décor embody the meaning of the term ”Pura Vida.” It is a phrase used in the Costa Rican culture which literally means “Pure Life,” but is commonly used to mean 'full of life' or 'this is living!' The beauty and serenity of the house and Lake Anna is truly “Pura Vida” living.

This lake home boasts breathtaking views of the lake from several rooms with over-sized Anderson glass windows and sliders throughout the house, including a stunning wall of windows expanding up 20 feet in the main level great room.

This two level 3200 square foot home has two master bedrooms both with lake views, king beds and private master spa baths with custom tile work and rain shower heads; one family bedroom with one queen bed, a twin trundle bed and a private bathroom, and a 4th bedroom with a queen bed. The sofa in the basement recreational room also has a queen sized pull out bed. High quality towels and bed linens are also provided. Enjoy the gourmet kitchen which is open to the dining room and living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with stainless steel appliances and utensils. The dining room table has 2 leaves and can accommodate up to 10 people comfortably with 2 additional people a few feet away at the kitchen island. The screen porch table can accommodate 6-8 people. There are 2 outdoor patio tables on the deck and patio that can accommodate 4-5 people at each table.

The outdoor living at the Pura Vida is just as spectacular as the indoor living. Enjoy dining and hanging outdoors at night or snoozing during the day in the large screened-in porch with dining area and huge sofa sectional. The screen porch is located via sliding glass door off the kitchen. Dine, grill and enjoy sun bathing on an expansive 60 foot deck which is the entire back side of the house. It wouldn't be “Pura Vida” living without hammocks, swing, lounge chairs, and more.

Guests will have use of one large covered boat slip, for one boat only, in a shared boat house that is very close, on a gentle slope, from the backyard of the house.

This house is designed for entertaining! Bring your family and friends down for a long weekend to enjoy the game or a holiday. The house has 2 large 55-60 inch Smart flatscreen TVs, 1 40 inch flatscreen HD TV, A state of the art- built-in surround sound systems on the lower level, basement recreation room, deck, ping pong table room and even the basement bathroom, so you don't miss a moment of the big game.

For rainy days, the house is also stocked with an Xbox 360 and games, DVD player, Satellite TV, High Speed Internet/Wi-fi, movies, books, board games and more.

The Pura Vida is located in one of the most exclusive communities on the lake called, Wyndemere. Guests of the Pura Vida can enjoy all the community amenities in Wyndemere including 2 parks with gazebos and picnic areas, community basketball, volleyball and tennis court, and more. Bring your bikes, scooters and/or jogging and walking shoes to explore the community!

The Pura Vida is located on a quiet, calm cove, a no wake zone, on the Public side of the lake. The cove is very safe for swimming, paddle boating, paddle boarding, fishing, kayaking, and more. Unlike other houses located on the main part of the lake, which can be very loud with choppy waters, the Pura Vida’s quiet cove mutes loud weekend and, even, early morning noises from boats and jet skis. The Anderson windows and upgraded sound proof insulation silence the noise from the inside. Enjoy 'gas' heat/HVAC and fireplace on a cozy winter weekend retreat.

Explore the creek on the shoreline behind the house with fish, turtles, and salamanders and, perhaps, spot the local Beaver.

The location is central and only minutes away, both driving and boating, to many areas on the lake including the Lake Anna State Park, the Boardwalk with restaurants, Food Lion shopping center, Lake Anna Winery, and much more.

Enjoy the “good life” at the Pura Vida!

About Jocelyn Rogers

We had vacationed at Lake Anna for several years and fell in love with it on our first visit. We boated on the Bay, but preferred the quiet serenity (and my husband would also say the fishing) at Lake Anna. We decided to name our lake home 'Pura Vida,' which literally means "pure life" and is translated to mean "this is living or the good life." We kept that thought process in the open flow, easy living design of the house and decor.

Jocelyn Rogers purchased this house in 2014

Why Jocelyn Rogers chose Mineral

We picked the waterfront lot for many reasons. It was in one of the lake's most exclusive communities, Wyndemere, which has many amenities and is well kept and beautiful. The lot is close to the water with spectacular water views, and has a gentle slope to the water. The cove appealed to us b/c it is off the main lake, which can get loud and busy, especially on the summer weekends.

What makes this house unique

There are numerous benefits of the house and lot. The Pura Vida was custom designed for the lot and for the water views. It is a long house, not deep, so many rooms boast beautiful water views.

The amount of glass in the house is stunning. It makes you feel like you are outside while enjoying the comforts of the inside of the house. All the windows are Anderson windows and are very energy efficient. The windows are all over-sized windows in the front of the house and the back. All the doors on the house are also glass, including the front door and the over-sized 3 pane slider doors. The 20 foot wall of windows in the living room are the house's most stunning feature.

We also upgraded to propane gas heat for maximum comfort in the cold months. Most houses on the lake have heat pumps.

The large screen porch with sofa sectional and dining table was another must have custom design.

The tilework, rain shower heads and spa-like extras in the bathrooms are exquisite.

The custom designed surround sound entertainment systems and huge Smart TVs are another big perk.

Lovely home!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house for a long weekend with our children and grandchildren. The layout was great. We enjoyed ping pong, the screened in porch and the kayaks as well as the deck and the back yard. Beds were very comfy.

Very convenient to Lake Anna State park where we took a family hike.

We are from Maryland and were very happy to get delicious steamed crabs from Dixie's Den (about 30 minutes away but they had larges and the closer Tim's place only had smalls) and eat them on the deck.

Beautiful view!!

Great family vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 generation family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is nothing not to love about the house! The layout of the bedrooms gave everyone their privacy, and access to their own bathroom, which was great. We especially loved the screened in porch, for eating our meals, and the huge deck. There is just so much space to spread out and just relax! We rented a boat, which was delivered right to the slip, and enjoyed tubing and swimming off the dock. And the neighbors we met were all very welcoming. The kayaks and fire pit were also great additions. I would totally recommend this property to anyone!

Gorgeous home in family friendly neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved Pura Vida! The home is beautiful and is perfectly set up for family vacations. Every bedroom has it's own bathroom which is ideal for families that plan to vacation together. The living room is large with an awesome view of the lake. The basement is perfect for kids - TV with gaming system, ping pong table, foosball table. The screened in porch and wrap around deck is awesome for dining al fresco. The grocery store, gas station, and dining options are a quick drive for convenience. We are looking forward to booking our next trip!

Wonderful family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Pura Vida is perfectly set up for family vacations! We loved the large screen porch off the kitchen, large decks and patios, fire pit hang out area, and the backyard. The cove is tranquil - the perfect setting for morning paddleboarding. The property is in an ideal location just minutes from food stores and short scenic boat commutes to the state park. Local property managers answered all our questions immediately. Everything about organizing our stay, paying, and accessing the property was easy. Enjoying our vacation - that was the easiest part of all! We highly recommend Pura Vida for your next vacation. We are going to reserve the property annually for family get-togethers and work/writing retreats.

Beautiful home and view

  • 5 of 5

House was exactly as stated and living room was larger than most rentals which meant individuals in the kitchen could interact with others. Kitchen supplies are not robust and some items need to be replaced (adequate mixing bowls, skillets) to easily cook for a large group. Overall, loved the rental

Wonderful house!

  • 5 of 5

I visited with my family and extended family over Mother's Day weekend and we couldn't have been happier with this property. The house is beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped. Great lake views. We loved sitting out on the deck and grilling/eating dinner on the screened-in porch. Location was great as a couple of us raced in the Kinetic triathlon and the house is only about 10 minutes from the state park entrance. Would love to stay here again!

Lake Anna is the second largest lake entirely in Virginia, with 250 miles of shoreline and 13,000 acres of beautiful water. The lake is 17 miles long and surrounded by rolling farmlands and hardwood forest. It is located in central Virginia between 3 major cities; Fredericksburg, Charlottesville and Richmond, and only an hour and a half from Washington, DC.

Lake Anna is unlike any other destination in the mid Atlantic eastern seaboard region. As you sit by the water in the afternoon sun, it doesn’t seem you could be only an hour or two away from major metropolitan areas, from the Shenandoah Mountains, from world-class universities and from both the capital of our nation and the place of its birth --- but you are.

Lake Anna was originally created by Dominion to provide cooling water for the North Anna Power Station. In 1968, clearing of the land started for the lake and in 1972 Lake Anna as we now know it was formed.

Lake Anna is 17.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide and has over 200 miles of shoreline. The lake is divided into two different sections, the Private side and Public side. The lake has over 9,600 acres of water on the Public side and 3,400 on the Private side.

The Private side is where the Waste Heat Treatment Facility for the power plant is located and is commonly known as the “warm” side. There is no public access to the Private side leading to the Private name. The Public side is larger and has several marinas and boat launches open to the public.

In 1972, the Commonwealth stocked the lake with over 5.5 million fish and continues to stock the lake periodically. There are over 33 different species of fish that thrive in Lake Anna including Large Mouth Bass, Striped Bass and catfish.
