About Rune and Kim Borgir

This Norwegian clan has gathered in Bend since the 1970s. This is a family vacation home. The siblings still meet here traveling from Germany, Berkeley and Seattle - with one sibling here in Bend.

Rune and Kim Borgir purchased this house in 2003

Why Rune and Kim Borgir chose River West

The feeling of being in the woods while being close-in attracted this hiking and cross country ski loving family to the house. Lay back, put your feet up - no fuss family home. You will not find the feeling of a hotel or even a vacation rental that has been set up solely for the purpose of renting out. This is a well loved and well lived in home.

What makes this house unique

The very best thing about this location is your proximity to downtown and all that is happening on the westside of Bend - but away from the congestion and parking issues of the busier neighborhoods.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. Rune and Kim were very responsive to any questions we had. The house has two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. There is a bathroom on each of the three levels. The kitchen is bright and spacious. We frequently ate breakfast and dinner on the deck with a view of the forest. Our dog loved the yard with a large grassy area and many trees.

We will be back!

Owner's Response: Hi - Happy to hear you liked the house and location. Your deposit was returned April 6th via VRBO. That was 9 days after checkout which is well within the two weeks. If you have not received it please let me know or contact VRBO directly. The last guests checked out the previous weekend. However, this is still our family's vacation home so there are lots of personal items. Best of luck on your future VRBO stays. Kim

Great Home & Host

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect. Huge fenced in yard for the pups, 3 great sized bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen (pots/pans, spices, appliances, etc). The pictures don't do the living space justice. It's open and bright and plenty of room! Would definitely stay at this home again

Lovely Fall getaway

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Far's house. It is cozy and comfortable and even though we went in October the weather was nice enough to sit on the lovely deck and watch the golden aspens rustle in the wind. The beds are comfortable. It is in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance of coffee shops, restaurants and a grocery store The kitchen has everything you need to make a decent meal. The property manager is great, friendly to work with and responsive. This place has the kind of warmth that I really appreciate when I take a trip out of town. I loved it. I will be back!

very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had to attend a week long class in Bend... renting this home gave us an added 2 hours per day to study. This is a split level house... one full bath and bedroom down a small stair case. Two bedrooms with a full bath up a long stair case. The main floor has a 1/2 bath, laundry, kitchen, dinning room, living room and really small wood stove. It is clean and comfortable. The only real difficulty is the driveway. It is extremely steep. We would carefully back the car down the driveway. When leaving up out of the driveway you must exit to the right or you may harm the bottom edge of your car... Just FYI. But a very nice home that fit our needs perfectly. I would absolutely recommend this vacation rental. Thank you for such a stress free stay!

Best Beds in Bend! Great Value!

  • 5 of 5

I think the other reviewers did a great job of summarizing this great rental. I just want to add that while all the furnishings are clean and functional, the bed mattresses and linens are newer, excellent quality, and very comfortable.

We enjoyed the large sturdy table, perfect for big-family meals and 1000-piece puzzles. A dual-recliner sofa might not be something I would want at my house, but we had a great time watching movies, fully reclined and comfy, with a fire in the wood-burning stove.

We walked to a wonderful breakfast place (CHOW) just down the hill on Newport. And possibly the nicest grocery store is Bend (Newport Market) is right across the street (from the restaurant).

I did have slight concerns before our arrival about the attached basement apartment, however, I actually forgot there was a person living below the house. The renter is a lovely retired woman and the entrance to her apartment is around the side of the house and in back. And we never heard any noise from her at all.

We are looking forward to our next trip to Bend and would definitely stay here again!
