Charming Summer Home with Stunning Views on Private Cove

Bedrooms 6
Half Baths1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 0 - 7 nights

About the property

The panoramic view from the spacious deck of this classic and authentic New England cottage is unlike any on the coast of Maine. From your bed, you can watch the sun rise over Wood Island and the lobstermen heading out to haul their traps. During the day, you can swim in our cove, kayak over to the old lighthouse, walk or run on the 2 mile sandy beach or bike around the charming, quintessential Maine village of Biddeford Pool. At night, enjoy a lobster feast in our large backyard and watch the fireworks across the bay in Old Orchard Beach. The great restaurants and museums of Portland are only 30 minutes away.

Our six bedroom, third generation family home comfortably sleeps 8-10. The first floor has two bedrooms (one full, one king) that share a bathroom, and four (3 queens, 1 single) on the second floor with two full baths available. The downstairs has a modest but well-equipped kitchen, pantry, dining room, living room, study, half bathroom, and laundry area. We have a flat screen, smart tv, cable and wifi.

We also have 4 bikes, 2 kayaks (with lifejackets), high quality sheets and bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, books, puzzles and games, gas grill, wood burning fireplace and a new, private outdoor shower!

It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your family as you embrace the simple joys of life.

As it is a beautiful venue, we have had several weddings (including both of our daughters') during the off-season months of June and September. In addition to the spacious front yard, we also have a large barn which can seat 80 for dinner or be used for an after-party. In addition to the rental of the house (for use by the immediate family) there is an additional fee for the barn and yard. If you are interested, please inquire.

NB: The house is not winterized. The water is turned off from mid-October to mid-May.

Wonderful Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful family vacation this summer. It was a welcome gathering for us, our grown children, and infant/toddler grandchildren. This home is on a spectacular property with a large lawn sloping down to the ocean. Breakfast time and cocktail hours on the deck overlooking the ocean and Wood Island lighthouse and romps and games on the lawn for the grandchildren will always be memorable. The home exudes the charm of the Maine coast with the nostalgia that only a multi-generation family home can provide. The home comfortably handled the comings and goings of our family with a couple nights at full capacity. It is well-equipped, and we lacked for nothing. We had fun family dinners each night around a large dining table followed by Olympics-watching in the living room or star-gazing on the deck. The location provided a multitude of activities for everyone: daily walks to the big beach for playtime in the ocean, kayak trips, walks and jogs throughout Biddeford Pool, a charter fishing trip producing a large striped bass, and excursions to Portland and Kennebunkport.

Family Vacay to Remember

  • 5 of 5

We hosted our children and grandchildren on Philips Cove for 10 days. Loved every minute. Each couple had a cozy, but ample, bedroom--and the layout of the house provided a quiet suite for us. The yard enjoys plenty of space for play, kayaks await, and the little town store was our go-to place for a lobster roll, morning coffee or newspaper. Perfect. Bicycles made for easy exploring of beaches and hiking trails, and day trips to Portland or Kennebunkport were easy and interesting. In all, a perfect getaway for our growing family. Good for all ages.

Portland is a great city to visit about 30 minutes from BP. It has world-class restaurants in addition to great shopping, art galleries and museums.

Saco and Biddeford are closer, smaller cities that offer fun restaurants and bars as well as golf courses and public tennis courts.
