Cozy Cabin With Beautiful Scenery!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is the perfect getaway for our family. Second time we have stayed here over Christmas/New Year break and just love the rustic cabin feel and beautiful scenery. Plenty of room for our family of four. Great amenities from cooking utensils, washer/dryer, great heater, fireplace, perfect water pressure and hot water. No electronics help the family come together in the evenings to play board games and spend great quality time together. Pack light for the stairs up!!

Best View in Taos Ski Valley

  • 4 of 5

OMG, this view is the best. The house was nice. I wish the bed were off the floor however. We had a nice stay, and it felt homey. Being from Kansas and no time to acclimate to the altitude, we did need to stop 3 times up to the top of the stairs. However, by the last day we could make the climb non stop. Our car made it up the gravel switchbacks to the cabin fine, but if rain or snow, better have 4 wheel drive.

Spectacular Vies of Ski Valley

  • 3 of 5

My wife and I had a few days away in the mountains and this cabin has spectacular views. A few things that folks need to know is there are 82 steps leading up to the cabin so it's not for the faint at health or heart. Maybe it's my misunderstanding of what was expected but we were not greeted with any instructions on what was or was not required upon our arrival and departure. No bathroom condiments are furnished (i.e., shampoo nor soap). There was 1 coffee filter and enough coffee for one morning. Again, maybe it was my misunderstanding but these would be essentials in a motel/hotel so guess I just thought they would be provided here as well. I would suggest the owner spray for bugs as we did fight bugs often while inside. Might suggest a professional cleaning as well. Cob webs and dust layered many surfaces. I don't want to really be negative, just suggest some improvements. We did really enjoy our stay and, once you get to the cabin, the view and peaceful atmosphere are worth the stay.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry about the coffee filters- there should have been more. There is coffee in the freezer. There is shampoo and soap below the bathroom sink, I'm sorry they were not in plain view. Also, there is a welcome letter on the kitchen table. Was this missing? The cabin was professionally cleaned on Monday, unfortunately dust does settle in the 6 days until your arrival. I believe the steps and intensity of the cabin is clear in the listing: I believe 'not for the faint of heart' makes it clear. Indeed, this is the Mountaineers Cabin. Sorry it did not meet your expectations. Potential guests: there are many condos available for rent at the base of the ski valley, a more mellow experience in many ways.
