Quiet, private getaway w/ above & beyond service!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week at the chalet! Millie and Jack are fantastic hosts, who provide lots of thoughtful extras to make you feel welcome. Very clean, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds for all. There was a nice selection of board games and some movies for rainy days. We made good use of the hot tub & fire pit after our day's activities--some amazing stargazing!

We went whitewater rafting on the Nantahala and had a blast with our guide Will at We did some hiking near the Tellico Gap, which is only about 10 minutes away, up to the Wesser Bald Lookout Tower. (FYI, the tower seems to be a party spot for some locals on the weekend, so go on a weekday if you want a more peaceful viewing) Also went to the Cherokee Museum (enlightening, heavy topic, but definitely worth the trip!) and stopped by Bearmeat's Den for some authentic Native American goods. We went to see the old growth Joyce Kilmer Memorial forest, with 400 year-old poplars--beautiful & easy hike!

We vacation often in cabins, and this is one of the few to which we plan to return!

Secluded Getaway

  • 5 of 5

While the place had all the amenities of satelite, dvd, internet, etc our family enjoyed the place without taking advantage of them. The inside has a true cabin feel and is updated with nice woodwork throughout and more than enough room for our family of 6. The added bonuses left by Millie and Jack are a nice treat.

Beautiful surroundings and a lovely cabin

  • 5 of 5

Millie and Jack really know how to do hospitality. We were greeted and asked if there was anything we needed and then they left us to ourselves. We were welcomed with home baked treats and sent off with treats!

The decor is very nice with plenty of seating inside and out. It's quiet except for the birdsong! All surfaces were clean and we had all the supplies we needed. There was plenty of linen. Just wonderful! If we are in the area again, we would stay here.

If you are kayaking the Nantahela and nearby rivers the location is convenient. It is 20 min. from Patton's Run put-in. You drive up a scenic little winding road along a creek with waterfalls to this beautiful wooded mountain setting.

Really enjoyed the "little house"

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay, and the treats were great too. Bought some honey from the hosts and gave some to family when we returned Winston Salem. I would highly recommend staying here.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Millie and her daughter Kim. 1st of all I would like to say thanks again to them both for allowing us at last minute to book this cabin despite Millie having surgery days before. My daughter was also scheduled to have a serious surgery the following Monday and it was my daughter 15th birthday so it meant so much to her and our family. When we arrived Millie had placed a birthday card and some flowers that she hand picked for my daughter that was sitting on the table along with some lil goodies. (So very thoughtful) The next morning Millie came and showed us all the ins and outs of the cabin. Let me just say this is a home not just a cabin. It is so nicely decorated and so so NICE. The woodwork is truly amazing and the Jacuzzi and inferred grill was just an added plus. The beds were quite comfortable too which made the weekend quite relaxing. The beauty of the location is amazing and so close to some amazing rivers and small waterfalls too. only about a 45 minute drive to Cherokee and 25 to Bryson city. We loved it so much I have it booked again for the end of April so me and my man can do some trout fishing. Don't hesitate to book this GORGEOUS place. You could not ask for a better host EVER. They even checked in on my daughters recovery over the past week and I am so thankful and blessed to have met them.
