Space 2,475 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 4 - 5 nights

About the property

Kea, also known as Tzia, is one of the closest islands to Athens. Kea is a hidden gem in the Cycladic Islands and has its own unique style. As there are very few hotels on the island, private houses are rented out, most or all of them made of local stone. The island has 45 beaches, most of them accessible by boat. Kea is the ideal island for those that want to relax and have a great vacation.

The villa has been constructed in a traditional way with local materials and with full respect for the island's architecture. It is a stone building of about 230 on three levels in a 2000 sq. meters plot of land on the seafront. The natural earth colors mix with the stone, the blue of the sea and the sky.The villa is situated in the unique area of “Treis Ammoudies” (“Three Sandy Beaches”), isolated and at the same time only 700 meters from the busy life of Vourkari with its shops, taverns and bars. Due to the archaeological character of the area there are only 12 other luxury villas built in the vicinity.

The view towards the “Three Sandy Beaches” is magnificent and gives the impression that the villa and its surrounding area floats in the air. From the verandas guests have the opportunity to admire the magic atmosphere of the sunsets and summer moonlight.

The villa extends on three levels, in a split-level arrangement.

On the upper level is the first entrance with a living area and a bedroom/playroom, with access to a large veranda covered with wooden pergolas on stone columns and direct access to the pool area.

On the same level there is guest bathroom and a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. On a lower (split) level is the fully equipped kitchen with a bistro like dining area.

The ground level, which leads directly on to the terrace and the pool area, has a living and dining area with a fireplace and a small office corner.

On this level there is a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath tub, and a second bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a utility room with a bathroom/laundry area. There is also an interior garden at the south end of the house and its own private entrance.

The bedrooms and the living room lead out on the a large terrace with a BBQ and open air dining area, as well as a swimming pool of 56 sq. meters, giving the impression of merging with the infinite blue of the sea.

The view is magic. All rooms have views of the sea. Large openings allow nature to come in, integrating the outside and the inside areas.

Immaculate inside and out plus a beatiful location (and great homemade mousaka if you're lucky!)

  • 5 of 5

The villa is set in a sublime little bay with essentially a private beach (shared by the 5 or so villas in the bay) 5 mins walk away. Great restaurants and bars in Vourkari are a walk/2 min drive away plus shops, banks, bakeries, supermarkets etc in Korissia a 10 min drive away. The internal decoration in the villa is exceptional, there is air con/fans in every room; bathrooms for each room; a decent kitchen plus washing machine/drying area etc. Outside is equally lovely with lots of terraces to choose from; outside dining and a BBQ. My only slight gripe would be that the finish to the pool is rough so kids hands and feet were a little sore at times. Overall though we have stayed in villas all round Europe and North America and this was easily the best combination of size, quality and location. (Plus the owner who stays next door some times, gave us some spare homemade mousaka which was probably the best meal we had on the island - and not because the food in the restaurants isn't great - what more could you ask for?)

Very comfortable house with a beautiful view and a refreshing swimming pool.

  • 4 of 5

The house was conform to what we expected, beautiful and well equipped (just one fork missing in the kitchen). Unfortunately we didnt know that the house was to sell and the first or the second day, in the morning, we had the visit of the agency with potential buyers. We were surprised and not prepared (having breakfast) but the guy of the agency insisted to come inside for a quick look..that was not very pleasant. It has been the only "cloud" in our holiday in Kea.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Sorry about the one fork missing. Unfortunately, I was not aware that the owners had arranged a viewing of the house with potential buyers. This of course is not acceptable when you are there for a holiday. I do apologize. However, I hope you had a good holiday apart from that episode.

Très bonnes vacances sur une ile authentique

  • 4 of 5

Maison comfortable, jolie piscine, magnifique vue.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. I am glad you had a good time. As for the toilet paper not been thrown in the toilets, this happens on most of the islands. Hope to see you again, you were great guests.

Kea was once called the Water Island, Ydroussa, and it is believed that the name is connected to the water nymphs, that lived here

according to mythology. Because it was such a pretty island, gods got jealous, and sent a lion to ravage the land. The nymphs fled, and as a consequence, the island dried out. The Keans then asked Apollo's son Aristaeus for help, and he built a temple to Zeus, who apart from being the highest god, also was the one who sent rain. This pleased him, and the nymphs and waters returned, giving Kea a fertile soil with good crops.

The island has been inhabited since Neolithic times. In the 13th century, the island was ruled by the Venetians, and 300 years later

by the Turks. Meanwhile, Kea was often raided by pirates, and the locals suffered greatly. It is therefore not surprising that Kea was

one of the first Greek islands to enroll in the War of Independence in 1821.

Vourkari, Kea: The little harbor of Vourkari is a 2 minute drive from the house and a delightful place popular with the yachting crowd. Although there is no beach in Vourkari itself, the lovely sandy beach at Gialiskari with its recommended beach taverna. Vourkari has quite a busy nightlife and there are several good fish restaurants and a couple of trendy bars. There is also a mini-market, a couple of arts and crafts shops and some boutique shops.

Otzias Bay are only an 8 minute drive from the house (there is a local bus service) and the pretty island capital Ioullis is a 15 minutes drive up the mountain (there is a local bus service). The Otzias Bay has a long stretched sandy beach with a lagoon section that makes it ideal for swimming for families with small children. The organized beaches of Spathi and Koundouraki, are ideal for those that like water sports. There is also an organized office in Vouraki for those that want to go scuba diving.

Unlike other Islands, Kea remains a quaint, low profile, rugged island, with few tourists, and an abundance of pristine beaches, beautiful blue-green waters, and ancient cobblestone marked foot-paths, bird-watching nature reserves, few hotels and mostly, privately owned houses.

Seasonally or permanently, to relax and enjoy, Kea boasts known names of the Greek and international jet-set in business, law, science, and art, as it appeals to the discerning visitor who seeks tranquility, authenticity and a genuinely Aegean environment.
