About David or Angie Wrightson
Angie & David came to Juneau in 1990 for what was supposed to be a visit, they fell in love with SE Alaska and never left. They built their current residence, nestled against towering pines and over looking Twin Lakes, the Gastineau Channel and Chilkat Range, in 1994, with the future thought of running it as a B&B. The views, the privacy yet central location, the wildlife that strolls through just screamed to be shared. In 2012, David started building a detached residence on the property. The thought was they would live in the new residence, run HTA, and operate the large residence as a B&B after David retired from the police department. Being the new build was going to be their 'new', smaller home, no expense was spared. The home was completed in late 2014 and hence the creation of the Vista Hermosa Executive Retreat. Since David & Angie are not ready to retire from their current jobs, they decided to operate the new residence as a VRBO and allow others to enjoy it's opulence.

Perfect Alaskan retreat!
The Vista Hermosa is a diamond in a stunning location. The added benefit of the tram pass and vehicle made our trip so easy and hassle free. The photos of the rooms were on point and the retreat is every bit as visually beautiful as indicated. Thank you for a wonderful first experience in Juneau. We will be back!
Beautiful modern apartment with a great view
My wife and I spent a week at Vista Hermosa the second week of September. Though the weather was often damp (typical in September), the time we spent in the apartment made it very enjoyable. The apartment has all the modern amenities to make it feel like home to us: spa shower, granite and stainless steel in the kitchen, comfortable recliner chairs, sleep number bed. Maybe more important than all that was the great view that we couldn't get enough of. It is 10 minutes from downtown and about the same from the Mendenhall Glacier, so it's location is excellent. The included car was in great shape and a really big benefit and the tram pass was nice too. David and Angie were not in town when we were there, but were readily available by phone/text to answer a few questions about how things work. The place is pretty high tech so a helping hand was important! All in all, we loved it!
Vista Hermosa defines 5-star accommodation
Exactly as described, the apartment was spotlessly clean and well appointed with the latest in high tech appliances and furnishings. The sleep number king size bed was a dream maker! (We thought we wanted one in the past but were on the fence if the price and gadgetry were worth it. After the way we slept, we're sure now.) The Forrester was waiting with a full tank of gas and clean as promised. Having access to a vehicle for the week is a huge perk and was so very much appreciated! The Mt. Roberts tram pass was also another great perk we took advantage of. Vista Hermosa defines 5-star accommodation. If pushed to list a drawback, it would be the need to go outside to the garage in order to use the laundry facility. That said, we only did a two loads of laundry on one day during our stay and the weather was great. Back to the positives: the location (quiet neighborhood and central, so nothing is very far away) and the views from the window of Gastineau Channel as the tide would move in and out was breathtaking. Many hours were spent looking out those windows appreciating the natural beauty.
We toured as much of Juneau as possible during our week in the house from Thane all the way up to the boat ramp at Point Bridget State Park. Favorites so far include: the Alaskan Brewery, where we enjoyed the tastings and talking with staff about their beer types and tourists from some of the cruise ships in port. The Mt. Roberts Tram downtown had amazing views! Seeing Lady Baltimore was a sad but special treat. Sad because she was injured and can never be released in the wild again; special because she was saved, she's well cared for and she serves as an ambassador for the Juneau Raptor Center (DON'T use flash photography around her). Other favorites are touring Mendenhall Glacier, Eagle Beach, Glacier Gardens and visiting the Shrine of St. Therese. Oh my goodness, the beauty of these places is better felt than described. We highly recommend doing the Taku Glacier Lodge tour. Preferring to cook at the the apartment (and having everything we needed to do so) we didn't eat out much but favorites include The Island Pub on Douglas, Rockwell on Franklin Street downtown and Bullwinkle's pizza in the Valley.
Angie and David were wonderful hosts - from the comfortable and thoughtful accommodations and perks they provided, how easy they were to communicate with and how they setup our stay for success. We definitely recommend Vista Hermosa!
Enjoyed our stay
Awesome property with a beautiful view in a quiet residential area. It was nicely laid out with plenty of room for the two of us. We loved the bed and the shower. Having use of the car was very convenient. It rained the entire time we were in Juneau and some of our planned activities were cancelled. We appreciated having such a nice place to spend our free time - much better than a cramped hotel room!
Beautiful Vacation Property
Vista Hermosa was such an amazing experience! It was so clean and furnished with everything you need when you are away from home. All the amenities including a washer and dryer make your time away from home so enjoyable and relaxing. This was our first VRBO experience, and I would without a doubt do it again! The shower was over the top amazing, and the bed was so comfortable! It felt so much like home, I can't wait to go back! Having the use of the Subaru was so convinient, and it was so fun to drive! Thank you to David and Angie for an awesome stay!
My husband and I stayed 5 nights. Had a fabulous time in the condo and the shower is to die for :). The use of the Subaru was awesome. The daily tram passes were a nice bonus. A BBQ on site would be nice and soap bars for the shower. Highly recommend this property!
Vista Hermosa Executive Retreat is centrally located in the Twin Lakes area between the beautiful Mendenhall Valley and historic downtown Juneau. It's central location allows for easy access to Egan Drive (Hwy 7). Guests can be sightseeing in town or walking up to the Mendenhall Glacier within minutes.
