Nice house and hosts. Everything needed was provided. Lovely garden to enjoy the sun and have a barbecue. House is really clean and tidy, a pleasure to be there. We even received little souvenirs on departure! Thank you for everything!
Really really loved it , the host were awesome and really really helpful
From the first day until the last day the host were great always really helpful and courteous , i would recommend anyone staying in Porto to stay there , if i go back i would definitely do , thank you olivieira family , god bless
Lovely fishing village and beach. Excellent house - well equipped and comfortable
The area of Vila Cha is lovely and old fashioned. It’s twisty roads have prevented a growth of hotels and commercialism. Locals all know each other and are friendly with visitors. Great local fish in small restaurants which are very inexpensive. Good access to Porto using the very efficient metro. But you do need a car. Our only criticism is that the house was on a road which was cobbled and
noisy at night. Otherwise it was a fabulous, relaxing holiday.
PS - The last instruction on how to get there is wrong. It should say “41 metres past Rua da Formosa on the left.” It should also include the address of the house as we had difficulty finding the property.
Hosts helpful & views amazing!
This was a great location by the beach, and a perfect room and facilities for a night on the Camino!
Spotless and Spacious.
A very nice property, lots of space and very well equipped. The owners were lovely, friendly and helpful. Superb location for beach and for sight seeing.
Amazing walks you can walk for miles along the board walks in both directions. There were an abundance of wild and cultivated flowers all along the coastal footpath and lots of wild birds and amazing lizards sunning themselves on large boulders. There was an excellent bakers just up the road for fresh bread and irresistable cakes! also a great butcher for fresh meat and of course fresh fish straight from the quayside.
We would stay again.
Off the beaten path, yet house/ area have all the amenities and charm coastal Portugal has to offerf
Home is nestled in a seaside village about one block from the beach. The welcoming family could not have been more accommodating, providing a welcoming bottle of Port wine, and many suggestions of where to eat, how to buy fresh fish from the local boats, oysters from a nearby shellfish wholesaler (you'll need your own oyster knife to open them). There is a small neighborhood market immediately next door if you need something in a pinch. Recommendations for an all day market in the next village over, places to visit in Porto (Graham's Port Cellars), ease of travel up the Douro River valley for a luncheon getaway. From the hosting family's recommendation for a restaurant just one block away, we had several great fresh fish dinners. One evening we arrived a little late. The owner had sent his cook and English speaking waitress home. He called them back in to provide us with another great meal! Through the restaurant owner we met a local, now retired, boat builder/fisherman. While it was off season (early to mid February) Vila Cha has a small maritime museum, but it was closed. The manager of the museum just happened to be the boat builder. He opened the doors for us plus called a good friend who spoke English and gave us a personal tour.
We spent five days here during our three weeks traveling in Portugal. We would have to say the property owners were a great help in making us feel at home and offering local bits of information to make our stay a rememberable one.
Thank you very much for your kind comment! It was a pleasure to receive you in our property!
Robert and his group were amazingly nice, likeable and fun. I would recommend without hesitation to any host!
We hope to receive you again in the future.
Kind regards from Vila Chã,
Vila Chã, be sure to visit the area of the fish market to get involved in the fishing village atmosphere, walk or eat fresh fish in one of the local restaurants. You can visit the city of Porto (~ 20Km), Vila do Conde (~ 10Km) or Povoa de Varzim (~ 15Km) featuring several quick access, as the metro and motorway (A28). The metro is roughly 3 km and offers direct access to the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (about 37 min.). The area includes several restaurants, cafes, beach bars, and Vila do Conde the style outlets (3 km).
