Perfect House For Family For A Bit Of Extended Stay In Bay Area
This house is our home. It has 5 bedrooms and is approximately 100 years old. Three bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs on the first floor. Downstairs bedrooms have 2 bathrooms either in or adjacent to the rooms.
There are 5 bedrooms -- sleeps 9. Hardwood floors through out the living area of the house
Perfect for staying if you remodeling your home (Piedmont & bay Area).
There is small bedroom downstairs and larger bedroom with office , and 3 bedrooms upstairs -- living room, dining room -- and of course WiFi, cable TV, etc. Comes with washer dryer.. House has nice, sunny front lawn -- and garden in back. Views of Bay and SF and Oakland. Kitchen is fully equipped. Very comfortable ambiance. Neighborhood is one of the nicest in the entire East bay. Neighborhood is close to Lake Meritt, Piedmont, and Montclair Village with nearby Trader Joes. Shopping, coffee shops, Sequoia Lodge are also very close. Photos depict the street.
Plenty of on street parking. Parking in Driveway may be possible.
Easy to get to BART which takes you into San Francisco. I have personal assistant in Oakland who can assist you if something arises.
The neighborhoods consist of houses all built around 100 years ago -- so it is a very nice and safe place to be. 100 yards away is a school play ground if kids need to run around. Easy Parking. If one would need a home office; that could be made available under separate arrangements.
For your convenience -- if you are going to a wedding or big picnic, we have camping chairs, bar b q materials, and a small wagon to haul the stuff in. (:)
LAKE TAHOE: We are fortunate enough to own a condo in Tahoe City -- close to the lake. If you are interested in combining your stay with a stay at the lake; please let us know.
The Condo is in Tahoe City close to the lake and Town.

Why John Preston chose Trestle Glen
Great location and older home with Bay views -- relatively rare in Northern California. Very nice older, established neighborhood. Spacious and comfortable. Nice garden in rear of house. We live here, so kitchen is very well equipped. House has artifacts from around the world
What makes this House unique
Back deck overlooking the Bay; Views of South Bay. Plenty of space; very comfortable 1920's home.

Comfortable home in great location
This rental worked out very well for us. It has 5 separate bedrooms, all with lots of room and comfortable beds. The location is in a very nice neighborhood with lots of street parking available. It offers easy access to San Francisco, as well as other great locations like Napa and Sonoma Valley. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Oakland is undergoing a renaissance and offer a host of great restaurants and night spots.
The Owner was very responsive and easy to deal with. The pluses and minuses of this property are mostly related to being an owner-occupied (when not rented), older home. John has a well-stocked kitchen, with comfortable furnishings and some fascinating art pieces. The negatives would also be related to the age of the house, with a steep staircase to the upper 3 bedrooms and an odd bathroom arrangement: a small half bath on the main level with the full bathroom inside the office/5th bedroom. Upstairs the 3 bedrooms share a full bath. Unlike many full-time rentals, much of the bedrooms' storage (closets, dressers) is filled with the owner's stuff.
There is a deck out back with a partial bay view that was perfect in the evening; the neighborhood is very quiet. Over all, this home was an excellent base for us for a week of exploring the SF bay area.
Thank you for your review. For the most part it is quite accurate.
Just for clarification upstairs there is one empty closet and each room has at least 3 drawers available and there is a completely empty a dresser in the hallway.
For most guests there is more than enough closets and dressers
I am glad the place worked out for. Them
Perfect place for a big group
This large house on Clarendon Crescent fit our needs perfectly. We had a family wedding at the Piedmont Community Center five minutes away, and as many as nine of us were able to stay there comfortably. It has five very usable sleeping spaces, 2-1/2 bathrooms, huge living room gathering space and a large dining room. We made good use of the deck out back for morning coffee, with outstanding views of the Oakland hills and the bay. Shopping was about five minutes away by car. The only glitch was a minor dispute over damage that was resolved with a few texts with the owner. Overall, we were very pleased and would recommend this accommodation.
Very nice people.
Oakland Hills Home
We stayed 4 nights at this older but lovely home in the hills of Oakland Ca. All of the accommodations were perfect for our family. The home was very well equipped, clean and well maintained. There was a lovely back deck overlooking the garden and if you stood on your tip toes you could see San Fran Bay. Most important was the ease of communicating with the owner who was accessible and very flexible. Would use again in a minute.
Perfect location, wonderful light & space
Like several other past reviewers, we used this house as home base when family gathered for a wedding weekend, and we were very happy with our selection. We used every bedroom at least one night, and everyone commented on how comfortable the beds are (one bedroom does not have window coverings, but we worked around that fairly well). The kitchen is well stocked, and the dining table seats 10, in a spacious, comfortable room. The bathrooms are dated but perfectly workable, though the the half bath is tiny and awkward to use. As noted elsewhere, the stairs are narrow and steep. This house is old, and if you are looking for perfection, you might not be fully content (and if you are bothered by knowing there is a tenant in a basement apartment, look elsewhere...didn't bother us; we never saw him/her). We like character and light, and this house has that, plus a lot more. Finally, we loved walking the neighborhood which is beautiful....and John refunded our deposit immediately. Thank you!
Thank you for your thoughtful and accurate review
You left the house so clean
The tenant will be leaving this summer and is rarely around
I am so glad everything worked out for you
Great house, outstanding value for the pirce
I chose this house for it's proximity to my friends house and venue (for a wedding) - I needed something with more than two bedrooms.
This house worked out great - it's beautiful inside, the porch has a lovely view, the decor is comfortable and attractive, and the layout was perfect for accommodating a large number of people. Two of the bed rooms are downstairs, which was perfect for my mother.
The kitchen was great. Contemporary appliances, good knives and cookware, and a useful selection of utensils.
The house is about a mile away from a main drag with shopping and dining - we used ride sharing to get around, and we were never waiting for a car more than a few minutes. It's very close to Lake Merritt, and centrally located in Oakland.
It's a really great property; one of the better houses I've rented, and an incredible value.
Comfortable Stay For Daughter's Wedding
We totally enjoyed our stay. It was a great place for a headquarters for our daughter's wedding. We were able to have others from the wedding party over and enjoy the very comfortable space to visit in a relaxed and open atmosphere vs. a hotel setting. We had 6 people sleeping and had plenty of rooms and bathrooms even with the bride's party getting dressed with photographer and all. Quiet area near a school that was far enough away to not encroach our own privacy. The location was 5 minutes from our wedding venue at Piedmont Community Center. The owner's were gracious, easy to work with and met our every need. We would certainly stay there again if we had a similar need.
Near Sequoia Lodge. We also have a condo in Lake Tahoe if you would like to add that rental to your stay.
