Crisfield is a quiet town, located right on the gorgeous Chesapeake Bay, that prides itself in being "The Crab Capitol of the World", and is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Downtown you'll find great shopping and restaurants, daily fishing charters and cruise boats (to Tangier and Smith Islands), and boat and kayak rentals.
A short drive (or canoe/kayak paddle) gets you to Janes Island State Park, which has more than 30 miles of water trails within its 2,900 acre Chesapeake Bay saltmarsh island. Day trips to a number of wonderful places, include: Assateague, Chincoteague, Ocean City and historic Princess Anne.
If you love relaxing, waterviews, delicious crab and beautiful sunsets, you've found the perfect vacation getaway.
This is the perfect location if you want to see your children enjoy the family togetherness of crabbing and fishing, if you want to have a relaxing vacation, or if you want to enjoy beautiful sunsets over the water.
We stayed here again this year. The crabing was good. Fishing not so much.
The house was clean but definitely needs a roof. Some rooms show signs of leakage in ceiling.
All concerns were promptly addressed by owner. Convenient to all of Crisfield with its many new improvements in town.
Last year (2015) our friends rented this house and invited us to tag along. We had a blast and decided to rent it again this year. Very relaxing stay, great sunset views, lots of crabs, a few oysters (if you like to jump in the water and be adventurous) and even caught a some fish this year. We didn't have to pack our whole house with us because a lot of items in the property was already there. I would highly recommend this house to all who love crabbing and eating of course.
We just finished our stay and we had an amazing time. It was my wife's request to go crab fishing for our 25th anniversary and we caught enough crabs to bring plenty home with us. The house had crab pots available to use also. The house is set up perfectly to enjoy the whole week. Crisfield is nice and I would recommend the trip Tangier Island for a day. The owner was perfect and has answered all my questions and even a 7:00am phone call for a detail I had forgot on the day of our visit. Looking forward to a return trip.
This was our 3rd stay at this property. Our main vacation goal is to catch lots of crabs and relax. We are never disappointed. The sunsets definitely are spectacular so each evening, after a full day of crabbing, we love to sit in the Adirondack chairs and watch the sunset's varying colors. The house is comfortable and nicely appointed, with plenty of room. Everything you need in the kitchen is there, along with a nice new grill on the patio. The Water's Edge Cafe is a great place for a tasty meal. Right around the corner is a wonderful hand dipped ice cream shop. So, if you are looking for crabs, relaxation and plenty of room, this is the house for you!
This was our 14th stay in this house over the past 10 years, and as always, we enjoyed it immensely. The house is as described, simply furnished and easy to maintain during the stay. Jorge, the owner, is easy to reach by phone if needed and always very responsive. Bonnie, the cleaning lady, is delightful. (If you run into her be sure to ask her about her background on Smith Island!) Fishing this year was much better than last year and, as usual, there were plenty of crabs. We can sit on the dock for hours finding scenes in the clouds and contrails and listening to the birds. Sunsets from the dock can't be adequately described and the outdoor shower at the end of the dock really helps cool you off on the hottest days. Few neighbors were in residence while we were there so the area was even quieter than usual. For people who love the shore more than the beach (though there is a small beach nearby) and are looking for some quiet relaxation, this is a great place. Be sure to visit Gordon's Confectionery when the watermen are there. And a trip to Tangier or Smith Island is always a treat. There are small museums on both, which along with the Tawes Museum in Crisfield, are very informative about the area. Chincoteague is about 40 minutes away, and Berlin (about an hour), with it's small town charm and antique stores, are both worth day trips is you have the time. Can't wait for next year!
Very nice and relaxing place. The house is very clean and very roomy. The view is beautiful, lots of crabs. When we're there no fish in June. We really enjoy it!
