About Steven Pinto

We are a family of 5 that lives east of Boulder and try to make it to the mountains often as we are active skiers, hikers and enjoy taking advantage of anything the mountains can offer. Our vacation home is an extension of our family. We want to make it a warm and inviting place to relax and forget the worries of everyday life.

Steven Pinto purchased this condo in 2014

Why Steven Pinto chose Northwest

We love that our mountain home is just a short drive away. You can't beat the privacy, views of the mountains and the proximity to skiing, golfing, shopping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and more. Our home is not near any busy roads and is quiet and peaceful - what a Colorado vacation should be! The new guest clubhouse is one of the best in the area and compliments a relaxing vacation. In addition, the HOA has the largest reserves of all the condos in the area so we know it’s well maintained and will be for years to come. We picked this particular unit because of all the ones we've looked at it was the only one with alot of natural lighting.

What makes this condo unique

We offer direct owner communication. We will make your stay more pleasant by providing you with additional information about hiking areas, ski rentals, lift tickets, restaurants, etc. We do not use a management company and so we are able to maintain very personalized and competitive rental rates. Our clubhouse is one of the best in the areas as it large and has so much to offer.

We Loved it

  • 5 of 5

6 night stay February 2017. Working with Steve on booking was a pleasure. Only two people this trip, so obviously, there was enough room. The cleaning crew came after the last folks moved on and left the unit clean and ready to occupy. The kitchen didn't have an abundance of supplies as noted in other reviews, but it wasn't a problem. We bought what we needed to cook meals at the City Market across the highway. City Market is tied to Krogers Loyalty pgm, so it took our phone # to get the store discounts. There were plenty of pots & pans and utensils to cook and everything worked as expected throughout the entire condo. Steve has his own router, so the Wi-fi was strong throughout the entire condo. A few light bulbs were not working or missing, but this didn't really impact our trip. I bought a couple of bulbs to brighten up the second bedroom. In a prior review, the bed in the master was noted as having been replaced recently, however, the bed I slept on had the same symptom of sagging in the middle. We did not use the complex's laundry facilities, but did hang out in the Hot Tubs/pool area. There are three decent sized hot tubs and the area was clean.

We skied Loveland, Copper & Breckenridge and snowmobiled up in Heeny (10 miles North) at High Country Tours (which was Awesome btw). This condo is in an excellent location to experience the area. Keystone and A-Basin are nearby as well as several other snow mobile options.

Overall, this was a nice condo and met my needs perfectly. I would stay here again on a future trip to this area.

A few tips:

1) The address for Treehouse Condos is to Lodgepole Cir. However, for this unit, you enter on Ryan Gulch road. Turn in where you see the 4 yellow posts and the G, H, I sign on either side of the drive.

2) If 2-wheel drive vehicle and snow on the ground, park close to the trash bin, it is flatter there.

3) Take Windernest Rd all the way up or down to avoid speed humps for other routes offered by Waze.

4) Great service and equipment rentals at Virgin Island Ski Rentals in Silverthorne. Best in the area?

5) Restaurants we liked: Dillon Dam Brewery in Silverthorne (crowded on Friday night), The Lost Cajun (Frisco), Noodles and Company (Silverthorne)

6) finally....not for everyone, but there is a great yarn store called The Quilted Purl in Georgetown just off I70 (My daughter loved it)

9 Month Stay

  • 3 of 5

Upon arrival, everything was clean and orderly. There was a fully stocked fridge of condiments and everything that you need. Lou and Steve were very easy to work with as well. I stayed for 8 months for work and never really had much time to venture around the city. However when I did, the location was prime. There are many fishing spots, hiking trails, etc. During the winter time, the home gives off a cozy feeling. I definitely Enjoyed my stay and will hopefully use the home again!

One small hiccup other wise a good stay

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed at the treehouse condo the week between Christmas and Newyears. Arrived Monday evening and initially had issues trying to find the condo, all of the other units (A, B, C, D, E, ec...) had properly marked parking lots, after a third loop around the complex we finally found the correct lot and found the building we needed. This isn't a knock at the owners renting out this unit, this is more so a knock at the property management company not properly replacing signage.

We got un-packed, found everything we needed, unpacked out groceries and had an enjoyable first evening at the condo. Beds were mostly comfortable, the master bed is an older mattress that "sinks" in the middle, my wife found it comfortable but I couldn't get comfortable at all through the entire week. If you can sleep on an unsupporting mattress then you'll be fine.

That same evening, I woke up to the condo colder than when we went to bed, I thought that my kids or wife had turned down the thermostat, I turned it up, and the heat never came on (radiator baseboard heat), turns out the pumps for the boilers went out, we later learned that the hot water for showers was also out.

Thankfully the main lodge, which is a cold 10 minute walk from building H, had a shower, only one shower per bathroom. They were occupied with a line waiting for the shower as others from building H as well as those using the pool/hot tubs were waiting. On the walk back to the condo, we got let into the owners lodge that also had a shower. This too had a wait but less than the main lodge. The hot water issue was resolved but it took until late in the afternoon Wednesday before it was finally fixed.

The only other issue/complaint I would have is that the ceiling of the condo isn't finished, it is exposed beams and wood slats from the flooring of the condo above. Whoever was in the condo above was very heavy footed, and you heard constant tromping around the condo. Thankfully that only lasted until Thursday morning but at times during heavy traffic it got very loud.

After the hot water/heat issues were resolved we had no other issues with the condo and we made the best of our stay here. The size of the condo is great, very large, more than enough room for my family of 4. Couches were clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensils and cooking ware needed for the week.

All in all, I was ok with the condo, its not a 5 star hotel, but I wasn't expecting that.

Owner's Response: Joshua, We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. As we discussed during your stay, we would make this right. We refunded you a nights stay for the issues you've experienced. One of the main reasons we chose to purchase at the Treehouse instead of the many other condos in the area was due to their very reliable association. There was a big discussion about the boiler issue with all the owners and unfortunately it was something that was unforeseen. This was the 1st time anything like this has happened in the several years we've owned the unit. They'll sometimes turn off the water and/or heat for a few hours for maintenance reasons, but they do that in the summer. The association knows the holiday weeks are the busiest and do everything they can to make sure everything is in working order. The main bed was actually replaced last season. The previous one was pretty terrible and I myself noticed it sinking in the middle so we replaced it. We use the unit often throughout the season and we highly value our comfort. We'll be staying there next weekend so I'll see if the bed needs to be replaced. We also have a humidifier that helps with the comfort level. It's extremely dry in the mountains. I myself can't sleep unless I have that humidifier running. I'm looking to get one to accommodate the entire unit. It turns out the building letter was stolen from the road. To future guests, I highly recommend using the map we provide in the welcome packet.

Cozy and beautiful winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I need a place to stay nearby Copper Mountain during our ski trip. The "Winterland", as they call it, was fantastic! The interior is beautifully decorated and very cozy. All the amenities we needed were right there. In fact, the living room was larger than I imagined from the pictures.

Steve and Lou gave clear instructions on how to access and treat the unit, so no problems there. I would certainly recommend the Winterland to anyone that needs to stay in Silverthorne. I'll probably be back for the next ski trip! Just a few things to keep in mind:

1) The residential area is a bit out of the way from the main large roads, so if it's snowing heavily (like it was for us), make sure your car can handle driving on snow. Some parts like the parking lot in front of the building don't get serviced by snow plows until the next day. Be careful.

2) There's a queen bed in one bedroom, and a bunk bed in the other (full on bottom, twin on top). Those could probably fit 5 adults as long as the two sharing the bottom bunk are on good terms with each other. You could have another person curl up on the couches (we didn't test if they were pullout beds), but if that's not an option you probably wouldn't want more than 5 adults in terms of sleeping arrangement.

Ski Trip to Copper Mountain 2/22/16 - 2/25/16

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and another couple shared the Treehouse condo for 3 nights during a ski trip to Copper Mountain. The accommodations were exactly as the photos showed on the VRBO website. It was clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for us and we enjoyed our stay. The owners were very responsive to our questions and the ease of checking in and out was great.
