Lake Okanagan (20 feet) - wake up early and go for an early morning swim or jog. River Channel (10 mins walk) - our kids' favorite activity, best way to spend 2 hours just chilling on the channel. Penticton Farmer's Market and downtown (3 mins walk)-pick-up fresh local produce every Saturday from May to October. Go for lunch at Brodo's (on Main St) or peruse through The Bookshop (new and used books, also on Main St). Naramata Winery region and KVR trail (5 mins drive) - go for a bike ride, jog or hike on the KVR trail and reward yourself with a nice coffee and treat at the local artisan bakery and coffee spot, The Bench Market on Vancouver Ave. Our favorite activity is to bike from our house to the Little Tunnel - approx 1.5 hr bike ride up a steady incline. You'll wind through lush vineyards and the view is absolutely amazing. The bike ride back home is all downhill and we like to reward ourselves with a delicious lunch (and a glass of wine!) at Hillside Winery & Bistro which is

Location was great, house was fantastic - loved having two floors/two livingrooms. AC had no problem keeping things cool and each day the temperature was in the 30's.

Perfect family holiday home

We loved the location, right across from the Lake, and it's close proximity to all of the child friendly attractions that Penticton has to offer. The unit was very well equipped, it even had lots of games for the kids to play, and the owner and property manager were very accommodating. Highly recommended, especially for families with younger children, although it would work for anyone wanting to be well located in Penticton.

Duplex or house?

We stayed at this property July 1 - 8th. There were positive and not positive features. I will start with the positive. Location is great right across the street from the beach, down the street from restaurants, parks and casino. The decorating in the house is very nice and it was clean (besides a couple of issues- that is in my not positive comments). The caretaker was really friendly. The unit is well stocked to cook all types of meals.

The not so positive features of this rental are it is the BACK unit of a duplex. The view of the beach posted on the website is from the top floor when you are standing you look out onto roof and lake you cannot see the view when you are sitting. There is a noisy window air conditioner that is located on the top floor where the bedrooms are. The unit is not air conditioned throughout. You have to keep your bedroom doors open to keep it somewhat cool in the rooms. I actually slept on the couch one night when our room was to hot because we closed our door. There were issues with all the bedrooms - bedroom 1 you can not run the ceiling fan with the air conditioner on - bedroom 2 the ceiling fan only runs on slow speed as the chain is broken - bedroom 3 there are no dressers to put your clothes away. The mattresses are not high quality. The first night we were there my daughter found 4 long dark hairs in her sheets she is blonde they were not hers. We thought maybe they all got stuck in the sheets so we went to change the sheets there are no extra sets. So 11pm the night we arrive I am washing sheets. Not impressed.

If you want the main level to have air movement you have to move the 2 fans from one level to another hauling the portable fans up and down the stairs.

We have rented many places through VRBO this is the first time that we feel we were mislead, we believed we were renting a house. There is no mention it is a back unit of a duplex. If you want to sit outside in the front of the house be sure to sit on the side where you are not blocking the view of the folks in the front unit (awkward).

The main level has the TV room which is the hottest room which also has the poorest selection of programs offered at any rental (not even a DVD player). It would have been nice to relax and watch a show /movie after a long day. I am being gracious saying there is maybe 10 viewable channels.

VRBO does not give the option to list as a multi family dwelling, however it should be disclosed in the ad by the owners.

Owner's Response: Thank-you for your feedback, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed some positive features of our home but sorry to hear about some of your negative experiences. First of all, I would like to clarify that we are very clear in our description that our home is a duplex. It is mentioned twice in our description, first to describe the size and then we also advertise that the whole house is also available for rent on the VRBO site. We have never misled any of our guests that this rental is a single house. After every booking, we also forward an email with full details of the house with ​a picture identifying the parking spots for the back and we make numerous references to the "back unit". With that said, there should absolutely be no confusion that our home is a duplex. We are also very clear in our description of where the AC is located - on the 2nd floor and that all 3 bedrooms and the dining / family room all have ceiling fans. We always provide extra fans should our guests require them, there is no need to move them. My property manager is always available by phone or text, she lives ​2 blocks away and always responds promptly. If you need anything such as an extra fan, more bedsheets, or any other household items to make your stay more comfortable, we are more than happy to provide them. Our job is to make your stay enjoyable and it is her job to execute that. We sincerely apologize for the hair found on your bedsheet, this should not have happened and we will ensure this will never happen again. We take great pride and care in the cleanliness of our home for our guests. This is the first and will be our last complaint on this as we will ensure the house and all the linens are checked and double-checked for cleanliness. We were not aware of the broken ceiling fan chain but now that you have brought it to our attention, we will fix it right away. We would never mislead anybody, our communication and description is clearly written on VRBO. It is unfortunate you did not read the full description and our welcome email that explains this is our back unit. It is also unfortunate that you tried to cancel this booking a week prior to arrival, which falls in the non-refundable period.

Very convenient location

The rear unit of this Lakeshore Drive duplex was as described and very well equipped with everything you could want. We were here ( 3 couples) for our sons wedding and it was convenient to everything and the venues were going to. The owner and the property manager were great to work with, I would highly recommend this place.

One of best locations in Penticton. Lots of room and quiet.

Loved our time here. We have 2 young kids so being able to walk out of door and accross the street to beach was amazing. 5 min walk to downtown along lakeshore or just steps away from restaurants in other direction. Convenient parking and quiet location. Place was in good shape with everything necessary for cooking. Airconditioning up stairs kept house nice and cool. Fans in downstairs circulated air nicely. We liked the 2 levels as we could get kids to bed and then talk, play games or watch tv. Great spot and would definatley return.

Peaceful, quality home in heart of Penticton holiday lakefront.

Nicely located to all Penticton beach holiday activities. Peaceful home with quality furnishings. Good separation of space with the up and down living areas. Our two families never felt crowded or too close to one another even with 3 kids. Very good attention to sound as we never heard our neighbors in the front unit. Out of control of the owners was the construction in the back lane which ensured we were up every morning at 7:30. (The City also uses a leaf blower to clean the sidewalks at 7:00 am). That aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Joanne and Fred Wescott's home in Penticton.
