The apartment has been obtained into the original structure of the deconsacrated Santa Maria in Chiavica church, which dates back to the XII century. The building now is home to three brand-new apartments, very quiet and elegantly furnished.
The property opens onto the living room, furnished with a double sofa-bed, a modern TV set and a dining table seating up to 4 people; the day area features wooden exposed beams and a curved wall: this is part of the apse of the deconsecrated church that has survived until now. The open-plan kitchen is fitted with induction cooktop, electric oven, microwave and dishwasher. The night area is composed of a bright bedroom with wardrobe and chest of drawers, which showcases ancient writings, and a bathroom with washing machine.
Cleaning (35 € for the entire stay) is not included in the final price.
Area The apartment is located in Verona city centre, only moments from the famous ‘Arche Scaligere’. The Arche -placed just beside the church of Santa Maria Antica- are a group of 5 funerary Gothic monuments built by the Scaliger to accommodate the family tombs. In the immediate vicinity you find the Piazza dei Signori -also known as Piazza Dante: once the beating heart of Verona political life, the square has now become a popular meeting point for the university students, who usually meet here on Wednesday evening. The square, dominated by a statue of Dante, is surrounded by the Palazzo della Ragione, the Palazzo del Podestà and the Santa Maria Antica church. Within walking distance you also find Via Sottoriva and the charming Piazza delle Erbe, one of the most famous places in Verona. At less then 100 meters there is Juliet’s House. In the area there are many typical restaurants (‘osterie’), a supermarket, some banks (in Corso di Sant’Anastasia) and a pharmacy.
Public transports The area is served by the bus lines 96 and 97 which connect to Porta Nuova railway station.
