This beautiful one bedroom, one bath air conditioned ocean front condo offers a feel of being miles away….. with no traffic noise, but is just a very short walk from the down town Kailua Kona area. Relax on the Lanai with an exquisite cup of local Kona coffee while taking in the spectacular ocean views or enjoy watching whales during the season or dolphins all year around.

The complex has an elevator, central air-conditioning as well as several ceiling fans throughout the condo. Hale Kona's friendly, comfortable and peaceful ambiance offers a wonderful alternative to the fast-paced, expensive resorts and lets you experience the Aloha Spirit of the islands. The complex is located ½ mile from a white sandy beach.

The oceanfront, heated salt water pool is a great place to relax and meet new friends. There is a BBQ area to prepare that wonderful stay at home meal.

Wake up every day hearing the waves just outside your bedroom window.

The downtown Kailua-Kona, just a short walk away offers easy access to shopping, businesses, waterfront restaurants and hotels. Watch the people and the cruise ships come and go from the Kailua Pier. Visit the famous Farmer's Market. Enjoy a shave ice or a cup of Kona coffee, have a light snack or a gourmet meal, buy an inexpensive souvenir or a piece of fine art, book an activity, go for a swim or hang out on the many beautiful beaches.

But the town of Kailua also "hides" some very important Hawaii Island historic spots. Both the Hulihee Palace and the Ahuena Heiau are located on Alii Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. The Ahuena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by Kamehameha himself and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.

The Kailua Bay pier is a short 10-minute walk, from which most of the boat excursions on the Big Island's west coast depart (snorkel, whale watch, dinner cruise). The pier is the starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (October) and a great place to watch the sunset.

Up the coast is a busy marina with Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, dolphin and whale watching and other ocean activities. This unit is conveniently located, and a great home base to explore the many wonders of the Big Island including Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea Observatory, coffee and macadamia nut farms, artist communities, and more!

I travel to Kona about 3 times per year, but this was the first time I have stayed at this location. Hale Kona Kai is really close to restaurants with a short walk. The unit overlooks the pool and also the ocean. The unit had all basics I needed. Not all Kona condo's have elevators or A/C, but this complex had both. I thought the unit was priced just a bit on the high side for the size, and could use some updating but I would stay here again and would recommend it to others.
